JUNNA 天下五剣 Tengagoken/HAGANE Drum Cam

Three days ago I saw HAGANE perform at the Tokyo Polytechnic University Festival. It was an outdoor stage in the rain, but I would like to say to the whole world that JUNNA's actual drum play was a monster, even more so than the video, and NAGI's vocals were not overshadowed by the drums at all.

Nagi is an incredible find! When the news came that Hagane was back from the ashes, with Sakura and Sayaka adding KZbin drum superstar Junna, I was stoked at such an insane lineup...but didn't necessarily expect much from rookie vocalist (this is her very first band) Nagi. And boy was I wrong! How can someone with so little experience have not just such a strong voice, but such confident, commanding stage presence?!? A born rock star...

To be honest, this is not a Junna cover. This is a cut from a Music Video by her new band Hagane so she is not recorded live. She is miming the drums. She is just good enough that you can't tell.

As has been posted, she's miming here, as this is from Hagane's video shoot for "Tengagoken." Along with the regular video, the band released these isolation videos for each of the members' performances (the one for virtuoso guitarist Sakura's part is intense, too). This band is absolute fire.

Junna is the new drummer for Hagane - They have a full band video for this song, as well as focus videos on the guitarist, bassist, and drummer. They have two other live videos - Hero Time and Life Goes On. All fantastic!

Others have asked about her mics. In one of her videos she uses multiple video images of her playing at various gigs and in the studio, all in one video, so it is possible that she is playing over one of her live performances, which might explain the "missing" mics. That being said, we both know that the actual performance and drumming is 100% JUNNA, no fakery. Might just be something she does for the few videos she posts on her channel. All speculation on my part.

I am quite surprised. The video and the sound do not match up. Or? Maybe, the drums is only lower in the mix than I am used to when seeing Junna covers 🙂 Seriously, I do not hear the cymbals?
