Played that junior year! I even played that little bit in measure 105 that wasn’t written in the part but you can hear in the recording.

@@hornguy04 I’ll be playing it this year on mello too! I noticed that part in 105 wasn’t written in the music but is in the recording. How did y’all play the part in 105? It sounds like maybe a rip from a concert G (d on horn) to a D (a on horn) but I’m really not sure.

I played this in 1986 when it was first released as a Jenson chart. Terrific writing and emotional impact, and the snare/percussion at the push and finale are amazing. I still get goosebumps hearing it.

Okay, I’m a bells player for this song, but I can still say this. There’s too many bell rolls. Sometimes you just have to let the note go without any rolls. It’ll sound better that way

You understand this is for a football halftime show, right? I've witnessed total country bumpkins stop eating their nachos and watch/listen to this arrangement. Yes, it's different, and intentionally so. I love the original, too- one of my top 5 orchestral pieces (I'm a teacher of music). However, this is probably the most timeless adaptation for marching band halftime ever written. Take it for what it is.
