That was great , finally I got to see the J2 flying over a city ,,,,,, it actually puts some closure to the series. Thank you so very much for sharing this video with us all , wonderful.

Great video, but that theme song looping over-and-over-and over...….Oh, the humanity!

Still very cool for me too. The sound in flight is a classic sound. As a kid, I would look forward to the episodes where the J2 lifted-off and landed and when it was in space. Irwin Allen put a lot into his show's vehicles.

His are all classic shows and movies in my book - you can tell from my user name. I liked the early LIS episodes the best while it was still serious sci-fi, but Dr. Smith kept all seasons fun! I have all seasons on DVD and lots of LIS memorabilia. Now if I could just build my own house in the form of the J2...what a dream life that would be! Ok, I know I'm weird.

@grueha the exaust vaports could still be appropriate. they had rocket thrusters on each side for additional manuvering, maybe they had a rear booster too.
@61seaview15 жыл бұрын
A great video but I agree the continuous music is distracting. It would be much cooler just to hear the sound of the J2 engines. Whoever made this, can you remove the music loop?
@tcevatt509 ай бұрын
Jupiter 2 uses EM and gravity to navigate..no thrusters. Episodes were forced to use them..
@Spidious9 ай бұрын
Actually, they did use thrusters to navigate. Just watched an episode this week where they used thrusters to avoid hitting a planet. It didn't work, but they tried.
@scottburris43186 жыл бұрын
I agree. One loop of that music was plenty, even back in 1966. And as for the take off...was Debbie flying it? Or was there a 200 mph cross wind on initial take off? Maybe Dr.Smith was attempting to drag his feet.
@rumbers17 жыл бұрын
Great stuff Spid. Very realistic. It would be better if dubbed with the subtle incidental score rather than the theme music however.

Holy cow, it almost struck the ground when the gear came up and why the low altitude departure?

I did a remake of the derelict in 4K using studio models and Filmora 9 video editing software. Check it out at this link below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nGqWoKJ6Yq2Xjtk

Remember escape velocity from Earth is about 24,000 MPH. The Jupiter looks like is going about 150 knots... that won't get you to the moon.
@cidron92016 жыл бұрын
cant do those speeds over populated areas unless you want to cause .... just a bit of havoc. Jets dont fly low at any high speeds for the same reason, and definitely not at 25k mph !
@clementvining24874 жыл бұрын
Yes for rockets but not for some kind of inertia distortion drive. Basically antigravity or inertia mass damping. This kind of drive could over come gravity without high acceleration. It would also be able to do slow reentery without a heatshield. In fact a ship with enough constant thrust could do the same thing. We can't do that at this time because we don't have a propulsion system capable of doing that without running out of fuel. Once you are outside the atmosphere you would go a lot faster than we can now.

If the Robinsons ever returned to Earth maybe Alpha Control would let them have the Jupiter 2 as a house.They could fly it anywhere on Earth.Say they could land it in Australia, Colorado,Mexico,even Chicasaw Falls Michigan(ha ha).John could use the chariot to drive to work or drive a regular car.They could extract their own water and have their own power via deutronium(no connecting to the grid).Course Smith would be arrested when they get back.Smith might con his way to house arrest .

John Sinclair just turn your music/sound off. As far as the rockets. The one on the show had them. Almost looked the same. But they didn't use them very often.

Oh the pain the pain. That is the weakest ship I've seen. Almost crashed 10 sec after liftoff. Add in the music over and over. I used to like the theme song. But after this video I'm sick of it
@Spidious3 күн бұрын
@@donovanbryan5000 sorry to disappoint you. This video was made a long time ago. Basically on very poor editing software. I agree with the music. But I didn't have a choice on the length of it. And no I didn't almost crash shortly after take off. I was skimming about 30' above the surface.

A moon hoax believer??? I didn't think there were any of you left still. Even the makers of those hilarious Books and Docuemtaries never believed in the Moon Hoax. What they did believe is that that there are enough schmucks out there like yourself that would fall for such BS....they are laughing all the way to the bank.....PT Barnum was right.
