This video sold me on moving up from my well used S-8. Just received my Z6 and absolutely love it! Tried my first FLAT WHITE and it's wonderful. Got the milk cooler as well. Can't say enough about this combo. Now ordering a cup warmer. Never leaving the house...or sleeping again ;-)

Hi Strato, Thanks for the comment! Z6 represents some of the finest technology available in super-automatic machines. Flat white happens to be my favorite as well!

This machine is awesome ... when it works! I bought one a year and a half ago at Sur La Table and recently it needed repairs. That's fine, things happen and that is what a warranty (2 years) is for. My Z6 stopped grinding beans all the way and I sent it in to be repaired under warranty. I got it back, it made one cup of coffee and then failed again. So rinse and repeat, I sent it in for repairs again, and it came back and now powers off intermittently. Today I sent it in for a third time. I sure hope the 3rd time is a charm! Talked to their customer server over and over again, I think they know me by first name now. Even talked to a manager at Jura about getting something done, he flat out said he wouldn't replace it with a new one, they would have to wait to get a used one to trade out with me. Not what I would have expected from Jura.

The Z6 and ENA 8 seem to have similar features and the main differences seem to be size (machine and beans/water) and one vs. two spouts. I have a hard time deciding between the two. Is it an issue that the Z6 is 4 year old? Is the newer ENA 8 a better machine? There is a big jump in price between these and the Z8, so any advice would help. Thanks for all the great reviews!

Can the machine be programmed so that you can make a coffee with the PEP method as well as an espresso? or is the difference so subtle that it can't be noticed in a full coffee as opposed to a espresso?
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
Hi, The PEP process is used for all brewing for deeper extraction of the coffee.
@duguyisheng8 жыл бұрын
In your video, when he pushed the coffee button, he brewed a cup without PEP. Is that machine just set up for demo purposes or are there some brews that don't use the PEP?

Great video. Noticed the Z6 doesn’t have for whatever an actual caffe latte. Short of buying the z8 any suggestions?
@Wholelattelovepage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, Thanks for the comment and question. The Z6 does not have a specific caffe latte. But, it does have the latte Macchiato. Stir that after prep and it's a caffe latte. Another option is the flat white which is more espresso with less milk. Marc

@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
You are welcome! Fat level in milk is a personal choice. Here in the US full fat is usually called "Whole Milk". We think this makes the best tasting drinks. There are milks with higher (fats added) fat levels. Some are referred to by names like half n half, cream etc. Milks with added fats tend not to froth as well as they have a higher fat to protein ratio and it's to some extent the protein in milk which helps hold together the air bubbles in froth. You might try a milk with a lower fat content and see how that works.

How does this machine handle Almond Milk? We are dairy free and love our late and coffee... What are your favorite top 3 machines for almond milk late and regular coffee? ... of the Super-Automatics machines $1500-3900?
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
Hi Suzzane, In our tests Almond milk froths fairly well. Check out this video in which we try Almond, Coconut and Rice milk using an autofrothing wand: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIPCd2yQntCKrJo All the super-automatics use a similar process for frothing milk so results should be similar. We like Jura machines and the Z6 featured in this video incorporates their latest technology. In particular it's one of a few SA machines that can adjust milk froth density while making a drink. Also one of a few that for some drinks, like the flat white, makes the espresso first and then froths the milk at two different densities. At the lower end of your price range is the Gaggia Accademia: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-accademia-espresso-machine It has 3 levels of adjustable milk density but can't change the density while the milk is in progress like the Z6. But, the Accademia does have a manual steam wand in addition to a detachable milk carafe. It lets you froth milk however you like - even a fine microfoam capable of pouring latte art with a little practice. You can see that in action in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZW3naqXmLeDhrM

I was wondering how this machine fits with the earlier Z9 - is this machine meant to replace the Z9, or is it a lower-speced model? Clearly, the Z6 has a number of new features that the Z9 does not have (eg. flat white, pulse extraction process, better filters, easier cleaning process, milk temp control), but the Z9 also has features not contained in the Z6 (eg. 2 thermoblocks vs 1 and dedicated one-touch cappuccino spout). I am just wondering if a newer Z9 will eventually be released at some point in the future, or if the Z6 is meant to be the replacement - it is a bit confusing as if you go on your website you still sell both models, but the Z6 is actually priced lower versus the Z9. One possible thought I have is that perhaps Jura is moving away from having separate cappuccino and espresso spouts, as the Z6 appears to produce all drinks - both coffee and milk-based product - from the same espresso spouts - I think this is probably a much better idea, although I do wonder how high the espresso spouts extend on this model (do they adjust to the same height as the dedicated cappuccino spout on the Z9 to accommodate larger glasses?) If you are able to clarify between these two models it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Robbie, Thanks for your question. Sorry I did not get you some answers earlier. I was actually at Jura's North American headquarters in NJ yesterday. The Z6 (they like to call it the Zet 6) incorporates all of Jura's latest features like the PEP brewing and the intelligent water filter. PEP brewing makes for a deeper extraction. By pulsing it extends the shot timing out to something more like that of a semi-auto machine. I did side by side taste tests with and without and it makes a big difference! The Intelligent water filter setup is a nice feature. With proper filter use you never have to descale any of Jura's machines. Problem was many users ignored going into the menu to tell the machine a filter was installed. Without doing that you'd eventually get a notification to descale the machine even though it was not necessary (assuming proper filter use). When you change the filter in the Z6 it automatically sense that. So no need to go into a menu and tell it you did - so no unneeded descaling alerts. While it's possible the Z9 may be updated there is no information on that at this time. I would say Jura is moving away from seprate spouts on their high-end machines. I was at Jura going over their high capacity Giga line of machines and they all have integrated spouts like the Z6. Spouts on the Z6 go to the same 6" as milk spouts on Z9. The Z6 does have 1 boiler vs 2 on the Z9. But, it's a little more powerful and updated design means it's comparable in speed to make a drink. Here is a side by side technical spec comparison of the machines: www.wholelattelove.com/product_comparisons/show?products%5B%5D=jura-capresso-impressa-z6-p-e-p&products%5B%5D=jura-impressa-z9-one-touch-tft

Love my Z6, but like to directly plumb it through a much bigger & better filter. Changing the filter each month seems kinda' silly, and rather expensive. I did this on my previous Jura with a float valve in the water tank, and it worked great. I contacted Jura, and they simply preached their company regiment,... only commercial makers are plumbed. Has anyone made available a retrofit plumbing kit? Many thanks!
@Wholelattelovepage4 жыл бұрын
Hi J, I responded to your comment left on the D6 review. I'll add here that the filter is part of Jura's convenience. Use as directed and you never have to descale a Jura machine. No other machine manufacturer offers that. Plus with the RFID smart filters changing is easy with no need to go into menus to tell the machine the filter has been changed. Marc

Is it worth upgrading from a 10-year old Impressa Z5?
@Wholelattelovepage7 жыл бұрын
Hi RD, Nice to hear your Z5 is still cranking it out after a decade! Is it worth an upgrade? Well, depends on what your are looking for. If you are happy with the drinks you are getting now then maybe not. On the other hand we do like the PEP extraction process and other new features. Combined with Jura's new grinder technology PEP does make a better espresso/coffee.

Have had the Z6 for about 6 months, and have wandered over to the Smart Connect (works great on its own) and Cool Control Wireless, which the later really helps with low milk detection and splatter issues. My question is, with the U.S. Version of this machine ever be compatible with Interfacing the Jura Smart Connect with the Cool Control Wireless Interface, as my Smart Connect does not, its either the Smart Connect Bluetooth Device or Cool Control Wireless Bluetooth device. Perhaps because the Smart Connect Fob I have is from Australia and is a software issue? Please advise, thanks much.

Hi Brian, I'll admit I'm not familiar with compatibility of Smart Connect feature between international versions. I think your question will be best answered by Jura customer support. Their contact info is usually inside the machine or with literature that came with it. Here's a link to Jura's Customer Care website: us.jura.com/en/customer-care

I live in India New Delhi. Initially i was getting good quality milk froth from the machine. Now I am not getting good quality froth from the machine with same brand of milk. I am using Amul Gold Pasteurised full cream milk
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
Hi Adil, A couple of things that may cause declining frothing performance. Most common reason is frothing components that are not completely clean. Components should be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Small passages can be plugged by dried milk and inhibit air injection. Also be certain all components are correctly assembled. Another less likely reason is decreased steam production due to scaling of the thermoblock boiler.

A flat white is a "reversed cappuccino"? That's the first time I've ever heard that. A flat white is a ristretto with microfoam combined to create a bolder milk based drink.
@Wholelattelovepage8 жыл бұрын
+AS41199 I've heard them called many things. A wet cappuccino, short latte w/double shot and so on. Now, interpretations vary but in general most consider a classic flat white to be made using a double shot of espresso and 4oz of finely microfoamed latte style steamed milk. Baristas from serious cafes in Australia or New Zealand are welcome to give their interpretation/opinons. Sbucks baristas...not so much. I rarely go to the SBucks, but think the ristretto thing is part of their marketing to make a flat white sound a little hipper. Would love to hear from Sbucks baristas on how they make a flat white. Are they pulling true ristrettos using same shot timing as an espresso but grinding finer to produce less volume? As for the reversed cappuccino reference, it's Jura's way of pointing out a unique feature of the Z6. One of the only machines we're aware of which makes espresso first and then does the milk. Most every other one-touch super automatic machine does milk first then the espresso to produce a latte machiattio. Another unique Z6 feature is the ability to switch froth density while making the flat white. Most super autos make a drink with some obvious layering. Switching froth density helps encourage mixing of milk and espresso while producing a drink with nice texture and mouth feel.
