One small correction I need to make to this video - I'm using the Trespasser CE mod, not ATX. It doesn't really make much difference in the grand scheme of things though.

I remember I got stuck near the end of Level 5 for several months, then just before Christmas (I'm not sure if it was 1999 or 2000) I had a dream where I managed to proceed to Level 6. The very next day I was able to solve the puzzle I was stuck on and proceed to Level 6. Level 6 looked identical to how it looked in my dream.

The SPAS-12 is not just a pump action shotgun. It's also semi-automatic. The Pump was when using low-pressure ammo that couldn't cycle the weapon properly, like tear gas or beanbag rounds.

@@It_is_I_Rogal_Dorn LOL. Honestly it's more that I miss Dinosaur games. The popularity of Jurassic Park skyrockted them in the 90's/early 2000's, with not only a lot of really good JP licened games, but also stuff like Turok and Dino Crisis. Plus just everything about this title screams VR, from the physics and complete lack of hud, to even the only dialoge been in you own head or you talking out loud. The health tattoo is an additional bonus, but honestly I feel a remake wouldn't include that, because, well you know how certain groups overreact these days.

"Why play this if it's such a disaster?" Why do people watch disaster movies? Why do people watch "When animals attack" or high speed police chases or NASCAR? It's an intrinsically human thing to observe in awe as things go horribly wrong. We don't necessarily enjoy seeing other human beings get wounded, injured or harmed - unless you're psychotic - we just enjoy witnessing the unfolding of chaos.

This IS a fascinating disaster of a game. Helps that you know what you are talking about. Interestingly enough as buggy as the raptors are, I like that not all of them attack you and some go after other creatures. More realistic that way versus some games where every creature on the planet decides that you must die.

Oh wow, now this brings me back.. back to 98 and onward. I remember running this on an old gateway and custom builds we had. I think we had it when it came out, but as with many games back then and even now you need decent hardware or a slew of issues ensued. The velociraptors scared the living daylights out of me trying to outmaneuver. once you get used to the awfully clunky controls and overall.. uh "feel" it's really amazing.

"The controls are a bit odd" I don't think so. I mean my usual control set up is E to jump [space] to crouch. This is cause I tend to try and stealth in most games I play. So I hit the crouch button more frequently than jump and holding [space] down with my thumb is effortless. Also works wonders in Minecraft. Most people whine their fingers tire holding shift all the time, I'm over here moving crouched without issue for hours cause my thumb is just holding [space] down.
