I still have no idea why the filmmakers refuse to go for a tone and aspect of the Jurassic Park movies that is so clearly wanted and loved that it’s unavoidable when fans talk about it. Modern movies are written terribly and they need to clean that up. But why have they outright avoided Site B in the films plots entirely?
@BrewingStorm-og6yn

I'm not entirely sure either, given that Dominion strayed very far from what most people expected from an idea of Dinosaurs overtaking the world at large, it's a wonder why they aren't stepping back and asking themselves if that is the tone they really want. My only sincere hope is that given the writers strike that just ended, Hollywood isn't going to keep much of the other writers around, they're going to want to cut the fat out of their system, with cutting out what isn't making them money comes bringing in better ideas that potentially could bring in money for their films and in turn have something people want. It's a morbid thought and I don't wish people to lose jobs over something that more than likely isn't their fault however given the bloat that's in Hollywood as of then that purge needs to happen. My big take away in this is that the people saying Dominion was the jumping off point for the franchise to start are dead wrong, the Lost World is the jumping off point that has potential for MUCH to be explored. While I liked Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, I feel very much that they've basically jumped the gun and lost the plot for the most part losing sight of what made Michael Creighton's tone very relevant to the franchise. It isn't simply Dinosaurs and genetic power, it's what happens when either of these were mishandled and everyone else has to deal with the consequences of a few people's actions. Lost World gave us a T Rex in LA, now imagine a stampede of various Dinosaurs running through a neighborhood. That's what SHOULD have been in Dominion.

Kinda like how fans make consistently better games than the official license holders, but get shut down by the license... and then the license holders decide to churn out complete garbage games instead. It's as if studios and executives, shareholders etc, are hellbent on killing themselves.

Probably because they believe it’s more brand friendly to keep things watered down. They don’t take risks unless they believe it’s a safe option; which of course defeats the purpose.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but Sorna needs to come back. The island may possibly be the most lore rich location in the franchise and yet it's been criminally underutilized. I don't just want to be told of what's going on with Sorna, I want to see it. There's a lot of potential for great storytelling if they go back to Sorna.

I just want Jurassic Park to continue featuring outdated technology like in JP1. The style of the technology and facilities looking '90s was such a huge part of what made JP1 so unique and (for me) it became part of the rugged expedition/safari branding of the JP franchise
@skycloud4802

Also ties in better for a 'run before you learn to walk' kind of arrogance. Accelerated genetic power and playing god, all whilst the limited computing and infrastructure technology of the 90s holding everything back. Things stopped working the park. Nothing was perfect. Also the plot can be more tighter and urgent, eg No smartphones, relying on radios only to call for help. Slow running computers and crude backup systems during moments of urgency.

I like your comment because it made me realize the risk of exploring this subject. Many times the thrill and excitement comes from the mysteries and the unknown. However once the veil has been removed and we know what's inside, that feeling is lessened. If anyone played Subnautica - it's an underwater survival game that plays more like a horror game - the first playthrough is amazing and chilling. The second time, you already know what to do and what to expect, and much of that horror is lost. I'm afraid that if we explore "too much" of Site B we will have "solved" all the mysteries of the franchise and then there is nothing else left to wonder about. Many beloved franchises like The Lord of the Rings, until this day have unknown lore and mysteries. It keeps the fans engaged, the discussions going, we will never know the answers and that's what makes fans keep coming back to think about it. Once everything is "solved" then there are no more theories or discussions to be had, so the conversation (and the stories) will die out and be forgotten with time.

The dinosaurs were really unique too. The camoflage scene in the second book in particular was wasted not using it on screen. Hidden ambushing dinosaurs make a creepy and fun spin on the usual 'roar and chase' theropods we're always seeing.

They only want to see the monsters with no self preservation hunt people as their dinosaur movie. They missed the point of the first 2 films (let’s be honest that those behind the helm of JW2+3 didn’t read the novels) that established the setting and lore. “People love dinosaurs!!” Then have the baryonyx throw itself at lava in order to kill the people… seriously, wtf?

They can easily work it in a script. First half is a “what happened back then on site B” and the second half is coping with survivors guilt and turning around to saving the crew from a new big bad from the island that survived. But that would take some effort and Hollywood is a field of AI writing and bloggers masquerading as screenwriters. It’s full of nepotism, you only fail upward if you’re in bed with the right folks in the entertainment industry

The creepy potential of Sorna is an absolute gold mine that Universal needs to let someone have a field day with. I'm practically drooling over the possibilities. The "black-site" nature of Sorna could make for some incredibly thrilling, creepy, and suspenseful stories that could come out of it. They even have plenty of space to explore the hybrids as well as some of the lesser known and more dangerous species.
@KingRumar
@KingRumar 9 ай бұрын
Right, take the tone of the 3rd film with the abandoned lab as a centerpiece for the new film. What were they doing here?! The spino can be reapproached knowing it’s a hybrid but truthfully, I think a direct mention by someone like Wu would be more than sufficient, show us some aftermath of the rampaging Spino. Keep the main Dino villain as the novel version of carnotaur. Have it as the unknown for the full movie, have it pick people off at critical moments, give us a Thing twist where we don’t know if we can trust those with us as we have an unseen nightmare hunting the protagonists! Imagine the entire setting with the scary fuel of the novel with the camo carnotaur. We don’t have to have the Rex or raptors to make a successful Jurassic Park/World film.

My take: a dark, gritty, solo survival exploration horror movie where lore is hinted at or slightly revealed as the movie plays out. Dino on dino carnage in abundance. You know just recently, I've had an idea for a darker more mature Jurassic Park TV show mixed with something like Narcos where the Cartels of Central and South America get involved with the 5 islands and begin poaching Dinosaurs from Sorna, where we'd get to see the original Carnotaurs from the Novel, the Dilos again, some of the ideas we had from Trespasser, and even some new Dinosaur threats. Along with Dinosaurs making it to the mainland because of the criminal activity and wrecking havoc on the ecosystem and the different countries down there, akin to Escobar's Hippos in a sense. We're talking literal "Chupacabras" in Mexico and Equator, or the scene from the books with the Compies in the nursery. I felt like Jurassic Park as a dark horror series still to this day just hasn't been touched to that degree and it's something we've all wanted to see, even as kids growing up.

I'm a massive fan of background 'compounds' I guess one could say. Resident evil has all these secret labs hidden away, massive complexes where research is done, with other complexes that were used to test their weapons and the like. JP is much the same, very much so in fact. Would have loved to see more of the San Diego compound and everything that would have gone into that. A complex to house such massive creatures would have had made something like Sea World look small in comparison. Site B has a handful of laboratories, the massive aviary which would be wicked to have seen up and running in top condition. These franchises have such amazing material that content could be made from and fans would love it.

Isla Sorna I’ll admit has rich potential, hell I even love how you described a scenario where even if you’re prepared, an unexpected species could ruin all your plans. I think a great idea spanning from this would simply be a mistake on the Dino list. The list may have carnotaurus, but no other details, and when they expect the carnotaurus to be as we seen on Nublar, we instead get the carnotaurus from the books, a subspecies with camouflage similar to a chameleon. That would reignite the terror and force people to try and survive. Imagine someone using a strobe light that interrupts the camo, revealing the carnos and giving people something they can see and work with. Can definitely imagine hunters taking time to observe and go over information they have on raptors, and this is where I believe some hunters would have 3d printed raptor vocal chambers like what billy had and use them in the presence of raptors to confuse them long enough to take advantage and either get away or shoot.

Isa Sorna has unlimited potential for anything like sequels, prequels, new species or even alternative species (for example a camouflaging carnotaurus as portrayed in the lost world novel) Then we could have a Trespasser Remake, which, if done carefully and adapted to fit the overall canon, could become one of the greatest games of all time They literally have any option whatsoever so hopefully one day we will see Site B back in all it's glory an maybe even more

0:00 My favorite line in the entire franchise. Jurassic Park is mostly about wonder/horror in regards to dinosaurs. But this questions the ethics of cloning in general. Which is a valid point, and opens a whole can of worms. Are cloned creatures considered alive, or real, or worth the same as naturally born creatures. Where does it end, What are the evolutionary implications. The list goes on. It brings a kind of existential dread, that the franchise never really acknowledged again.

Site B is perfect for the survival horror game the franchise needs and fans have been asking for. There’s a lot of narrative gap to work with to craft a scenario, work a story that pits you against dinosaurs both known and as yet unknown. The TellTale game definitely has atmosphere and nightmare fuel, but the QTE gameplay can be off putting and the game was removed from digital platforms ages ago.

I really wish they would go away from the bombastic looking stuff we get on screen now, but into the really messed up stuff like the Troodon's from the TellTale game, or the JP Extinction horror house. It just has so much potential and in a way encapsulates the JP franchise so well. Just the whole "we didn't clone dinosaurs, we created monsters" feeling the first book tried to emphasize. The whole "oh we used that technology to clone humans" implication got me interested and invested into the new movies again, and it's sad that they didn't build up on it. I want unapologetically evil corporations hiring sensible or crazy maniancs to do the impossible for some nefarious reason, with the whole ladder being riddled with shady suits that try to get rich and/or famous, and protagonists getting thrown into hell. Run wild. Go crazy. Go dark and horrible.

I came up with a story with the raptors evolving on the mainland and ending up on a ski resort. They were winterized and smart enough to use guns

I bet one of the places Site B shipped to (before Universal mucked up the story) was Isla Aventura a.k.a. the Jurassic Park River Adventure in Orlando.

It would be fun to maybe have new characters head to site B after the events of Dominion to find InGen's roots and the creation of several species that are found on the mainland only to find many of their hidden projects which could include species like Nothosaurus or Albertosaurus.

I just wish someone would make a new Jurassic Park/World movie that broke away from the contemporary ‘formula’ method of movies that come out today and just did something new. What made the first Jurassic park movie so legendary was it had in it things NO ONE EVER SAW BEFORE!!!!!!!

I’d say to introduce the Cryolofasaurus from Antarctica… around the size of an actual adult Dilo, if not bigger, which would be just larger than the Indo Raptor… perfect size to be a larger-than-human menace, but small enough to sneak up on the camps unnoticed.

I would love to see a story set in the Jurassic Park universe, where an international investigator of some type is called out to inspect the report of a missing commercial fishing boat. Upon arrival, there are signs of a large alpha predator attack (the mosasaur). When they get the lawyers representing InGen involved, InGen holds to claims of the mosasaur's "official demise" which they claim was carried out years before. Meanwhile, an expert has come to the area to determine why the marine life ecosystem is wildly out of balance. In the end, they have to hire a whaling expert to help them hunt for the mosasaur that "shouldn't be alive". Yes, it is a retelling in the spirit of Spielburg's Jaws but in the modern day of the Jurassic universe, much like Spielburg did using the Jurassic universe to make his retelling of the classic stop-motion Lost World. I'd love to see Spielburg himself craft and direct it! It would in many ways give him the chance to reflect on his gained wisdom and his new thoughts on the story and the messages he told over 40 years ago.

Read. The. Book. It literally explains all of the species on the island as well a ingen/biosyn’s intentions w the animals, as well as the animals behavior in a natural setting. Also explains the Apatasaur presence. The only thing i wish they brought to film would be the pair of chameleon carnataurus terrorizing the island, running off the workers and dominating the raptors in the worker village. They were literally the reason the site was abandoned and the movie completely excluded that.

Sorna is much bigger than Nublar, and deserves its own spotlight. One problem I always had with the franchise is that it only really explores dinosaurs, except a few reptiles (flying and swimming reptiles) and a couple synapsids like dimetrodon and lystrosaurus. Expand on the franchise in order to really drive home the point of how new humans are and how little we really knew about these impressive, weird, ugly, regal, deadly animals with power we weren’t meant to experience. Instead of changing the franchise name from “Park” to “World,” change the name “Jurassic” as each movie gets more expansive. “Prehistoric Park” is a great name. Honestly, I’d have argued from the beginning to make it the name of the whole franchise so that you’re not limited to one time period, and we could’ve gotten “Prehistoric Park” segueing to “Prehistoric Planet,” should the animals get loose into the world. Or just start out with Jurassic Park, and the sequels, with the new trilogy called Prehistoric Park, and then Prehistoric Planet. But imagine the lore they could create with a massive gorgonopsid, something bigger than the real life inostrancevia and a lot creepier...with only small patches of hair, a ripped up lip-line with exposed teeth, and killing everything from the soldiers to the raptors. The massive gorgonopsid from Primeval is basically how JP would have made it look...or they can make a different one that looks more spindly in its limbs and slightly human in the face. Make it a large theracephalian that uses the venom from its mouth to slather onto its claws and swipe at prey to disable them...kind of what we ended up getting with the scorpius rex, but it wouldn’t even need to be a hybrid. Just make it a creepy stem mammal since a species here and there are considered to possibly have been venomous anyway.

Would love to see them do a true to book version of JP. With all of them beat up in the interrogation rooms at Costa Rica recollecting the events of JP and flashing back to everything that happened. With the dark tone all the gruesome deaths and having the original characters die (Hammond and Malcom) with good build up and suspense and short and quick deaths none of the junk action like the Malta scene of Dominion with extended action scenes .. takes away from the feeling that the actors are in any sense of harm whatsoever..

My beef is that Universal Studios abandoned the 5 Deaths and didn't utilized Mantah Corp to the full potential with Cenozoic animals and a good Spino/Sino hybrid (a creature that lives on swamps plus one on grassland resulted on a cold dependent creature, not even Smilodon was like fully cold dependent).

I often wonder how James Cameron would have made Jurassic Park had he acquired the rights to the book like he wanted. Stories say Spielberg beat him to the book rights by about an hour. Cameron (and the rest of the world) was ultimately pleased with JP with Cameron saying that Spielberg did it right and that dinosaurs should be for everyone. Cameron is reported to have said he would have made Jurassic Park as "Aliens with dinosaurs". Now there's a thought.
