Jurassic World Evolution 2 REVIEW | Beautiful, Buggy, Incremental Improvement

Quick addendum to this review: I finished the Campaign mode and, wow, my first impression goes entirely unchanged. First few missions are just tutorials, then the last one almost leaves you to go about it's one objective (to collect a bunch of carnivores) at will. But lacking any of the park management stuff it's only value is to unlock a few dinosaurs you may not have gotten in other modes yet. Also finished all the Chaos Theory modes. Still enjoyed this mode but the quality of missions varies wildly. Jurassic Park 1993, San Diego, and Jurassic World were honestly really good scenario-based park building challenges, while JP3 and Fallen Kingdom were railroaded objective based missions which kinda sucked. (JP3 was just a cycle of "go find this dinosaur, put it in an enclosure, get it's comfort to 80%, ok now get rid of it, next". Map wasn't that interesting, and neither Spinosaurus nor Pteranodon [the two biggest things that movie added to the franchise] played any real part in the gameplay)

The campaign is super short and gets better as it goes. The restrictions are pretty much gone after the first mission. But yea sandbox, challenge, and chaos theory modes are really the main attractions here

Makes one wonder what in the world Universal is forcing in the contract, Frontier knows full well how to make this type of game. RCT3, Planet Coaster AND Planet Zoo are literally this with very minor tweaks...RCT3 sure was a different engine. But the other 2 share an engine with the Jurassic World games...so to see a lot of these issues, knowing what Frontier has made...is very jarring.

I also feel like someone needs to tell frontier that they can ease up on the simulation aspect somewhat when making these games because the gold standard for Jurassic Park simulation games is still operation genesis followed by Dino Island (only because you could actually make crazy ass hybrid dinosaurs in dino island years before the Jurassic series even considered it) and while you could also argue Dino island is more in the vein of the cartoony simulation type of thing and you wouldn’t be wrong the point I’m making is both of those games are for one reason or another more fun than the more modern games whether it’s the staff trying to sabotage you in evolution 1 or all of the realistic park management aspects basically being complete shit in evolution 2 no matter how many improvements we get we fall short of the gold standard that is operation genesis which is sad because a game that came out 20 years ago (holy shit it’s really been that long) really shouldn’t still be the best option out there

Is it perfect? Haha, hell no. Not even close. It definitely has some annoying issues that, hopefully, get worked out sooner rather than later. Preferably through free patches/updates. Am I still having a lot of fun with it? Oh absolutely.

Frontier thought the action of damage control could save their I.P. product. But now, even their shareholders have decided this sequel is garbage like the last one. It's a shame really.

I'm here because I lost a Mosasaurus due to my MVU abjectly refusing to heal it. Then the game crashed, took out my graphics driver, and forced me to restart my computer. I'm in the mood for some negative reviews. The game made a few, small improvements over the original but those are vastly outweighed by how unstable this clearly unfinished game is.

Campaign mode is abit of a letdown, I enjoyed unlocking the new islands by making my parks high level on JWE1, this can't be what the fans were asking for, they cut a decent campaign for chaos mode, not really an equal comparison if you ask me, but still its fun so can't complain too much

You have to manually put essence on car ??? Isn't the point of being a director is taking big important decision and having subordinate to take care of meaningless task ? Can't change price for every restaurant too, God that big production games where nobody listen to "this is tedious, this is crap"

Manually put essence? Do you mean manually control? You do not have to, but you can take the wheel of any vehicle: and given how sometimes unreliable the driver AI is, it's sometimes a good idea in an emergency.
