These were... interesting ways to compare the games. Does the power management really warrant the same weight in scoring as the animal models? The latter is foundational to a dinosaur park simulator and both games have the option to remove the former entirely. There are so many other factors to consider: JWE2 has a larger roster featuring Palaeozoic creatures and Lagoon & Aviary exhibits but is arguably quite repetitive in some areas, whereas Prehistoric Kingdom has mini-exhibit creatures and Cenozoic mammals but lacks representation of iconic groups like Stegosauria and Ornithomimidae. The modular building in PK is in-depth, sure, but that depth can be overwhelming to many people might cause them to prefer the simpler but much easier to grasp construction in JWE2. The animal AI in JWE2 allows them to flock, graze and socialise but does lock them into 1v1 fights that feel more like pokemon battles than two real life animals in conflict, as opposed to PK that doesn't have any of that; the animals look nice, they wander around and eat and drink, but that's it (more animal social stuff is planned for PK early next year). Animal skins in JWE2 can pick from a combination of base colour and pattern colour, but the pattern itself stays the same and not every colour combination works together, while PK has only 3-4 skin options per animal, but each skin has an entirely different pattern, can feature different skin textures, and can represent alternate species or even alternate genera that would not have got a look in otherwise. PK is PC exclusive, but JWE2 can be played across multiple different platforms. I recognise that none of these points resolve into a neat scores for either side, but each of these games are being produced by different devs with different goals and different constraints, so treating them like top trumps cards is never going to accurately assess the positives and negatives each game presents. 👍

However, I do just want to jump in and say that if I started allocating different categories different amounts of points, or giving them different weights in the overall score it would get complicated fast. Both games also need a biome blender so we can make grass, rock etc look more natural instead of having to constantly tap to try and blend it together

I've just started watching and I have to stop and write a comment. JWE2 and relatively realistic, scientifically accurate dinos? You only need to have minimal paleo knowledge to know that most dinosaurs in this game have nothing to do with being scientifically accurate. Practically everything is too big, almost twice as big, and some models, such as Deinonychus, Giganotosaurus or Spinosaurus, are pure fiction. There are very few realistic dinosaurs and almost all of them are DLC content for which you have to pay extra. Btw I think it was worth mentioning existence of paid DLCs, which constitute half of the game's content. I dont know how JWE2 won education category. I won't go into detail because I just did it. Even if there is a lot of information, the appearance of the dinosaurs alone should mean an automatic win for Prehistoric Kingdom. In JWE2 vast majority of players will never even read all this information. They will just play the game and consolidate a false image of dinosaurs in their minds. JWE2 should get a minus point for this... I don't want to be overly negative, but I don't like this... Preferences are one thing, but giving false information is another. Not everything is bad, of course, but those false informations outshines the rest. I hope you will make more reliable materials in the future.

Prehistoric Kingdom outperformed Jurassic World Evolution 2 in a lot of these categories, even though it’s in early access! I’ll be making an updated video in the future after it releases to see how far it’s come.

Prehistoric Kingdom takes it for me. There’s more variety and the effort being put into everything to give players what made them love tycoon games of the past like Zoo Tycoon really shows as the team continues to give updates. The JWE games seem more like well done cash grabs that don’t give as much as Prehistoric Kingdom aims to. That might be a business move, but still leaves stuff to be desired.

I respect your opinion, but as for the education point I have my issues. While it is more comprehensive on in-game mechanics, I think it’s important to differentiate what’s meant to educate you on THE in-game animal and what’s meant to educate you on the irl animal. If you refer to the former then yes, I believe JWE2 gets the point, but if we are talking the latter, then undoubtedly PK should get the point, as accuracy is the most important aspect when talking education on the irl animal

I appreciate that and I respect your opinion too! In hindsight, in this category, I would have also considered the education that Prehistoric Kingdom provides through features like information about dig sites, more about Nigel Marven, and, as you mentioned, consider the educational difference between the in-game and IRL animals. I 100% agree with you that Prehistoric Kingdom achieves that better than Jurassic World Evolution 2, and I do believe that it is important to talk about _both_ IRL behaviours and game mechanics I feel like JWE2 achieves the latter especially, but it does touch on the former. However, Prehistoric Kingdom only focuses on the former, which I feel like is a point it misses out on. I know I’ve rambled a lot in this comment, but what I’m trying to say is that I agree with you, but also think that if Prehistoric Kingdom _also_ did was JWE2 did in talking about game mechanics, it would be even better. Glad we could have a respectful discussion over this 👍 Also just a minor suggestion, I would wait until PK is in full release before doing another comparison video, it’s kind of unfair to pit an early access game against fully finished games. Give them a few updates and they could possibly (emphasis on possibly) wash out JWE2, but can’t atm because y’know, early access. Feel me?

@GeneralGoji Yeah I do 100% - I’m gonna move on from Prehistoric Kingdom for now, and focus on a few actually complete games. However, I do plan to come back to Prehistoric Kingdom (maybe even remake one of these comparison videos or make a part 2) after a few months or after release. I get that it’s unfair to compare it with big studios games, but I also wanted people to see how it shows them up in some categories. I think I did this well. Thanks again 😀

hello I don’t wanna be rude or anything, but for the camera option in Jurassic world evolution two there is a capture mode which lets you get very and I mean very close by zooming in to the dinosaurs and also there is a second mode to the capture mode, which is the cinematic camera which switches to buildings dinosaurs ranger teams guest automatically

As far as I’m aware, modding is not directly supported, though. Frontier don’t tend to fight back against modding but it’s not possible to mod in the workshop or game menu. If I’m wrong let me know, and I’ll add a correction and make sure to mention it in the next video I talk about this game in!!

Me too 😂 - building in Jurassic World Evolution 2 is a lot more simple than Prehistoric Kingdom, but I think the ability to use the Steam workshop in PK is really good if you’re not creative or don’t want to dedicate hours to building. You should check it out if you haven’t already!

I wished prehistoric kingdom would win... but JWE2 is just the better game hands down no questions asked. Yes customisability, scientific accuracy and overall beauty and the lack of "jurassic world"-bullshit (you know, all the annoying shit the JW franchise brings with it) are the reasons I so desperatly want it to be better. but it's not. it's barely any fun. yes you can customize everything, great! when I enter a scenario and the facilities have a certain look to them, let me place similar/fitting looking facilities. no? you want me to build them from scratch? well... takes a lot of time but okay! oh, the saving feature doesnt work. I am already done, having "played" 2 hours and would need to do the same designing again and again if I wanted more facilities. basically, making things look good in PK is just unreasonably time consuming. and then there is the immersion breaking planet zoo crap. like the "enrichment" and the feeding trays/water bowls. like wtf... I can build a beautiful enclosure just to cram this out of place, artificial looking water supply in there? WDYM I can't plant prehistoric plants so the animals feed on them? And the blood pumpkin makes me afraid. Afraid they'll add colorfull balls and shit into this game so every enclosure looks like an american zoo.. termite mounts give me hope and I hope we can get some alternatives so we can stick to realistic looking enclosures. also camera in JWE2 is strictly better, you got a cinematic camera with different options. just click on the animals. so.... yea. PK doing nothing new here (the "cinematic" camera btw is crap 30% of the time as it just hugs the ground showing you the foliage where a dinosaur might be at some point... maybe) and stop this "PK isn't even finished" it's in early access for over 2 years now. that's crazy.

While I understand the reasoning behind some of your points, I still prefer Prehistoric Kingdom way more than JWE2, in its current state. I know it's already been pointed out by other people, but 1 Pk animals' existence only takes all the education points away from JWE2, considering all the inaccuracy. Also, building got an update for PK, and it's easier to build piece by piece and modular structures (updated and standardized models for modular buildings per theme); Staff can be trained in their free time to increase their potential, as well as their salary can be changed now

The glaze for JWE is crazy. The game is nowhere near the level of PK and it's not even finished. Once PK is finished, it's going to be the BEST dinosaur park builder ever (Yes better the JPOG). It's a shame because JWE could've been a great game but it lacks so hard

I agree that building is not great in JWE2, but aspects like electricity, guests, research are a lot better in Jurassic World Evolution 2. I will say, though, the animals in Prehistoric Kingdom are 100x better than JWE2’s.
