The answer to that is unlikeable, but simple. Cops are innocent until proven guilty, and to charge with anything, you would have to prove that they had _willful and malicious intent_ . Without an email or bodycamera footage that shows that they knew she was innocent but conspired to take away her freedom, or some evidence that they did it to settle a grudge of something, you got nothin. Unless you have some evidence that shows willful intent to deprive her of her rights, no prosecuter is going to do anything. The rule of law works exactly the same for cops as it does for everyone else.

@@FIRST-x4h I agree, but it is not easy to do. In my own city, we got an inititive on the local ballot to put stricter civilian oversight in place. This passed with 79% of the vote. The cops hated this because it creates a civilian review board to oversee displline in the force. Because it was a voter initiative, the city council cannot undo it, even if they all voted to not do it. The voters demanded it, and the voters are getting it. At the time, the cops put their own inititive on the ballot to counter it, but it got almost no votes. There was no union contract at the time becaues the cops were waiting to see the outcome, but now that it has seen it, they won't sign a new contract. I am fine with that. If they don't sign a new contract, they don't get raises, and they are already the higest paid police force in the state. This is not unique. Look at Steven Avery and his nephew. Wrongly convicted on one count. Originally set to pay him $36 million for that wrongful conviction. And enough questionable events in what he was later accused of to make anyone wonder if he too was framed.

34 million for stealing 16 years (16 years after just becoming an adult, mind you) is not nearly enough. Anyone who was in on framing her should have to spend the same amount of time in jail that was stolen from her.

I always say something similar, though I put some context to it. I say that if you are on a jury, never convict anyone of anything only on the word of a cop, or a clown car full of cops. Only accept testimony from independent witness and hard evidence. Cops lie and while many would argue that not all cops lie, a reasonable person today that pays attetion to police behavier would conclude that a cops word by itself does not constitute proof beyond a resonable doubt.
