This is a great idea for me, living in a warmer climate! This is a pattern I would like to get and make up like this.

I absolutely love this, thank you. I had planned to make a more formal jacket, as per the pattern, with the narrower collar, but I have completely changed my mind now. I've bought suede scuba and will be sewing it up as this one you've shown us. I have short hair, so the collar seam will need to be sewn wrong sides together! I will be wearing it to a wedding in July, over a viscose crepe dress. It's not a church wedding, so will be less formal. I can always make a more formal version later, maybe in a ponte.

Great jacket and ‘sew’ very elegant! This method is probably more difficult than conventional sewing. I’ll save this for later, when I’m more intermediate. In the meantime, I have enjoyed every video and watch them again and again as I start new projects. Love to sew now. Your recommendations are spot on, including your choices in indie patterns. You are my go to for sewing.

The Metra Blazer is a favorite of mine. This pattern is so well-drafted, and is such a flattering fit for me. I have made several. In fact I left one behind in a motel, called them, and of course they didn't have it for me! (Someone else got a custom jacket made with designer french terry!!) I was so sad I ordered the same fabric, and re-made the jacket. Love this pattern.

Love it! I think I have a tan fabric with chocolate brown on the underside that I got on a clearance table. It might be perfect for this project. I have never sewn a blazer before but I have this pattern, I might have to give it a go. 😄

I have a RTW jacket similar in the same color. Except they used a thick sweater knit for the sleeves. I keep thinking I want to take the sleeves off and just make it into a vest. The sleeves make me look top heavy. Which I am but I don't want it accentuated. I will look for fabric like this. This is my favorite winter color. I found scuba for the pants also. If I can get used to elastic waist again. Thanks for being such a inspiration to me!

Bless you for this video! I just cut out this pattern. My solid black lining is a couple inches short. But my main fabric is a bit thick for Florida. Since it’s my first go, why not just make it unlined. The fabric I have is a mystery knit. The back is a fuzzier version of the front. Why not?

Another comment. This is genius. Love the idea. I have been looking at some cotton double knit and wondering if it would work for this.

Make sure it does not curl on the edges. If it does then I don’t think it would look the same as mine.

Could you show how you modify the sleeves, pls ? Once more lovely nd thanks for sharing
@LiftingPinsandNeedles3 жыл бұрын
I won’t be creating content for the channel about the two piece sleeve. It’s very specific and a video on that topic would get very very low views. I filmed it for my patreon page.
@Hiker_who_Sews3 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I wonder how the raw edges will hold up to several washings. Thanks for your video!
@LiftingPinsandNeedles3 жыл бұрын
This is my approach: gentle hand washing :) I would not throw it in the sewing machine.
@frapatch3 жыл бұрын
This was just amazing Karina! Thanks for sharing. I have to get this pattern now...hehehe Would you consider sharing how you modified the one piece sleeve to 2 pieced?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles3 жыл бұрын
The sleeve modification is a very specific technique that is generally not what many people want to see. That means that this type of video on my channel would get extremely low views. I have filmed that for my patreon page.

Hi Karina, I know you have not seen the smaller shawl collar, but I wonder: do you think the shawl collar would lay properly using this unlined technique? Or is the weight of the larger lapel necessary to keep it from flipping up?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles3 жыл бұрын
I’m think if the fabric is heavy enough, the smaller rounded lapel will be ok too.
@yvonnetrujillo52643 жыл бұрын
Would a boiled wool work for this?
@LiftingPinsandNeedles3 жыл бұрын
This pattern is designed for fabrics that stretch at least 25% horizontally. It’s not a garment that very roomy. I don’t think boiled wool stretches at all.
