I'm not sure how many audience members were familiar with the song, but I thought it was interesting how quickly the giggles faded as the audience listened to the story. I first saw Working in the 80's and have always been moved by this song, as well as others from the show. What a lovely and heartfelt performance. Thank you for sharing it.

Couldn’t agree more! My thoughts exactly. I choreographed this musical years ago and was so moved by the song... and when it’s performed by a talented actor/singer, it’s so meaningful. Beautiful performance Will!

I love this song! Beautiful interpretation. I especially love the bridge, when she calls out the people who make her feel and about her choice to remain a housewife, and then you see the emotional toll that mindset takes on her. Brilliant interpretation!

Thanks so much Wendla! I was doing my best to channel and honor my mom on this one. My mom is awesome. :)

@@thewillcollyer This song always makes me cry. We did this show when I was in HS in the '80s. Reminds me a lot of my mom who was one of the few moms who was a stay at home mom, when most of my friends moms in the 70s / 80s were working outside the home. It made it tougher on her because my father was gone all day working in his office in the city and she did not drive. She felt trapped and less connected than all the other moms. Raising threw boys, I am sure we drove her nuts. Still, she was and is an incredible and loving mom and never for one second made us feel like we were anything but the world to her.

@@416grandstcondoassociation2 Thanks for sharing. I have two brothers as well, and I know we definitely drove my mom nuts at times too, haha. Since this performance, I've become a parent myself, and the days when I'm home with my daughter are definitely more challenging (and rewarding!) than the days when I head off to work.
