Thank you! I thought I was the only one thinking this. They knew the smear campaigns will drop as soon as all of them are enlisted. TRUST THEM. I will. I am also glad that Jin's solo album in simply "Happy" -- It is exactly what ARMY needs to carry us through the remaining 8 months. ADOR woman citing V's call is another part of that smear campaign, to tear ARMY apart. She just angered me all the more. SO, I cannot wait until Jin's HAPPY, to pull ARMY back together, as a solid unit. I am streaming only BTS music. Staying positive. Patiently trusting.

I don't think it's any coincidence that Jin has picked the theme Happy for his.album. That man understands the need for positivity, kindness and light. The entire thing was such BS. The fact that he had to do the walk of shame, made me really dislike Korean culture. also, he did a song and MV about corupt cops... maybe that had something to do with why 3 police were following him in a very LOW crime district?

I firmly believe in the power of what I do. I vote, stream, share, comment, report, etc. Everything I can do for BTS I do. But I don't attack others because they don't do what I do. I remember when I began stanning BTS, I was amazed by ARMY projects. The donations on behalf of the artist, trending hashtags, having fun on Twitter and making jokes, etc. I'm sure every new ARMY would love that. I miss that. Every time I watch a negative post I ignore it. If I have to, I report and block. I don't spread negativity. If someone asks about anything BTS related I answer. I'm curious to see what you consider to be a "casual ARMY". Because, from my 9 years experience in ARMY, casual fans tend to not support the group when it's most needed and easily walk away in favor of other groups. This is the prime source of frustration for core ARMY where casuals are concerned. And please understand, core ARMY, particularly us long-timers, have been abused over and over and over again so our patience tends to run a little thin. We have seen and dealt with so much hate that we've become prickly.

I also think that the implosion of twitter that was our main way of organising and reaching the casual ARMYs is responsible for that feeling of disorganisation. Also that counter protest at HYBE was THE BEST thing ARMY has done in a long time💜

Leaving Twitter definitely created more of a disconnect from the fandom for me, but it had become too toxic and stressful to stay (both inside and outside of Stan Twitter). I have Insta and TikTok, but I don't use them much except to check BTS and Big Hit accounts. I listen on Spotify most days and go to Weverse regularly to watch content, but I don't engage with the fan boards like I did in the early days of Vlive. I guess I'm basically KZbin ARMY at this point - I'm on here every day watching BTS content in some form, and I do chime in to comment sometimes. I vote, buy albums, and pay for premium content to show support when I can, and don't stress if I can't. We need our core fandom and I appreciate and respect what they do (counterprogramming a BTS music video award show to protest the boys being shut out of the VMAs was epic and fun - and seriously impressive for being organized in less than a month) but I'm also a firm believer in doing what you can, even if it's not as much as others are doing. Casual ARMYs are still ARMY. ☺️💜

In 2018 it felt essential to have a Twitter account as an Army. And then came Weverse and their individual Instagram profiles and that super problematic guy took over the platform. I always wondered why Armys rely on Twitter so much because apparently it has been a relatively toxic social media platform for a long time now and since a lot of people become Armys while searching for healing it would make more sense to do the hardcore fandom work within safer spaces.

Streaming is listen in a certain way so our stream count. Sometimes I looped 😃 I try not to but I indulge 😃 I think we should share our memories and bring back the older concepts and albums and concerts to pass down to newer Army how we all fell for our tannies and how they became who they are today. As for the smear campaigns we need to keep an eye on them and analyzing them coldly like you said to inform Army about what is truly going on and how we will collectively reply to them. The answers depend on the situation. But at the end of the day we are fans of a music group and soloists. They are the ones who matter to us. I cant believe we are so lucky to hv 7 beautiful artists like them and ofc I'm not talking about how attractive they are but beautiful glowing men who are embodiment of happiness in a pretty unkind world. Army are BTS wings so to use words Joon said in one of his speeches maybe 2017 let's spread our beautiful wings so we can all fly to 2025 to welcome our tannies together. Tell Joon ah that I want a kiss on the forehead if we do great. Fighting 🔥 Btw I cant wait for his documentary 💜

I'm dying for the day they come back.... The day the real armies who are resting now come back The day the solos that ruined the fandom in their solo eras go extinct after crying over bts's reunion The day the media stumbles to start another campaign against them because of their success but they find out armys are more united, mature and ready! The day the whole kpop drama stops affecting bts or including bts selfishly ( won't happen but if we ignore it it'll decline) The day it'll be back to fun memories, sweet smiles and everything we miss💔💔💔 I just wanna say for the real armies that stayed, only believed in bts, didn't care about the lies and never hated a member: I love you❤ and I hope you get a ticket in 2025😊❤ Let's stay strong it's literally 7 months left!!!! I agree so much. I've been trying to maintain positive energy and be hyper for new releases, involve more people, create projects, but I'm just... exhausted? by the unending chain of frustrating events and, to be 100% honest, by the amount of things to hype up with a smile on my face. obviously we are very blessed to have every member sharing their music with us, but 11 albums in 2 years... I am a squished lemon 😭 I love each album, I stream and do my part, but army promo involves so much more and requires so much more emotional and time resources and then the goals not met, and I open our core fandom spaces, and all I see is more frustration and blaming these and those armys, while I just wish there was a little bit more understanding of the situation we are in! and the emotional state of the fandom that will affect us no matter how much we don't want it to. to make positive energy around a debut or comeback we first need to give positive energy to EACH OTHER. we need to act more merciful with ourselves. we need to stop taking hate news to heart and act about it with cold mind. we should not allow negativity to abduct our spaces and we all just need to rest... without new releases to work for, without haters yapping and WITH the members home. just some time to settle the normality again and recharge for future accomplishments we too can't be working non stop, we aren't limitless
@KootchLB

My dear, all I can say to you is STOP WORKING. I know that core ARMY set goals because they are their gift to our boys, but it's supposed to be fun! The members will be so sad if they think they are the source of stress instead of love and joy. The haters will never stop yapping - what you can control is whether or not you let it upset you. When we get new music from the boys, accept it as their gift to us, not something you work for. Before setting your streaming on however many devices, just play the music on one device, give yourself the first five minutes or so to have the song to yourself. Remember that they are our beloved boys, not our taskmasters.
@erume5776
@erume5776 Ай бұрын
@KootchLB yeah I always give myself time to befriend a new release :) might take me a whole day to go through an album, I just organize streaming on a separate device. I have a precious relationship with music, it's my main driving force in life, so I will not trade it for anything as nothing else gives me the same joy. that's exactly why I took 6 month break from fandom activities in the beginning of this year. I took music with me, but I put aside everything else I think the reason for my burnout was more so the very frustrated environment in the fandom rn. instead of gifting grace and understanding to each other i saw (and still see) a lot of pointed fingers and blindless blaming. often without a proper logic behind the accusations, just to spill the anger. such tone won't lead us anywhere, it does not encourage anyone either. but I also understand those being tired of putting in efforts and not seeing a proportionate response time after time and all these feelings accumulate with each release, that why I think it feels more and more exhausting as the time goes we need to check the attitude and resolve this on a fandom level before it blows up

As a casual and fairly new Army I always had an issue with the core fandom trying to make people feel guilty for not streaming enough etc. I listen to their music because it’s good and because I enjoy it. If you make something feel like homework I’m not going to enjoy it anymore. Don’t worry my top artist on Spotify has been BTS for the past 2 years and will be this year as well but I’m not always streaming something over and over again because that would ruin the song for me. Maybe that makes me a bad Army but for my own mental health I can’t get in too deep into the drama and rumors. I’ve never once known which label a particular artist even belongs to prior to BTS so all this in-fighting and drama has been exhausting to me. People have forgotten that being a fan of an artist is supposed to be fun! I do understand the other side of it though and want to protect them as well. It’s really the Korean media being toxic and companies not protecting their artists well enough that’s the issue here. 😢

I agree, I'm a very casual Army and being worried for Suga, and I started trying to keep up with everything going on but it was too stressful for me, my mental health didn't allow for it. I've had to take a step back though I still feel worried about the situation. And there are very new Army like my mum, I don't think they get involved at all, and while I mentioned to her a few things happening, I didn't want her to go onto twitter and get stressed out, cuz she really would be. And she would not know how to navigate Twitter and probably get really misled and confused. She's been really happy finding other "senior" older Army on TikTok, and watching Jin (she loves his song Epiphany!), and I'd like to keep it that way, her just enjoying watching the BTS members and appreciating their music. Not getting stressed out or pressured to do anything.

As a grown adult with a job and responsibilities (which I'm certain a lot of us are) I don't have the time to engage in the fandom the same way I had during the pandemic and going on social media makes me feel guilty for it. There's always someone telling me how I'm not streaming enough, how not voting everyday using 10 different emails means I don't love them enough and then there's all the antis always spewing bs plus all the searing campaigns. I really want to be there for them but I genuinely don't have time and mentally I can't stand being on the k-pop side of social media

This is a perfect explanation on why being on the fandom is so exhausting right now. For example, on twitter the majority of big accounts are casual "armys" (if they can be called that) that just put full energy on hating other groups, giving all the spotlight to antis and not supporting bts at all, it's like they just use them as an excuse to be nasty in general. And your point makes so much sense because the hateful "armys" are the ones that take the spotlight so it means that they are a bigger quantity of people in the fandom unfortunately. I had to quit tik tok and twitter because of how bad and stressful it is. Now I'm just on KZbin and Reddit waiting for the boys to come back.

I agree, and I feel like this has 2 other negative consequences. One, the core fandom itself becomes the only ones being screamed at and feeling the negative emotions as the casual fans are pushed away. This creates further negative energy that we all get stuck in. Secondly, I’m also worried for the fudge and the 2025 comeback as I hear analog of sentiment about how army’s that weren’t there during these hard times should not be welcomed back. I don’t like this way of thinking when it comes to army’s tuning out the negative noise right now and not being active, but also when it comes to army’s who went stopped supporting in 2022. These people shouldn’t be punished for prioritizing their mental health and happiness and should be welcomed back not criticised. I’m scared that when the 2025 comeback comes around there will be a split in the core fandom who stayed and feels betrayed and the core fandom who went on haitus that will not want to come back because of the backlash they’ll recieve. I don’t want any negative energy like that effecting the 2025 comeback. So any army reading this, please don’t make anyone feel bad for the amount of support they give, we all do what we physically and mentally can and in the end we’re all in this for the same reasons, loving bts! 💜

I really want us to gather ourselves together, get our mindset sorted and get organised before the full reunion. There are so many good things about ARMY, and we've done amazing things in the past. The way we work best is when we concentrate on BTS, on the music, on the joy of it all, when we motivate each other, have fun together, and Block. Out. The. Haters. BTS have always had major hate against them ever since they started succeeding, and as a fandom we've managed to survive through all of it by staying organised, disciplined, focused and most of all calm. But in recent years we've lost focus. It makes sense, and I don't think we should blame ourselves or each other - here are some reasons: ➡ BTS have been on hiatus for years at this point, their latest regular album was 4 years ago. ➡ Solo era has brought out solo stans, who create needless drama. ➡ Since BTS have been in the military, their enemies in the industry have taken the opportunity to attack and drag them constantly, knowing they can't defend themselves. ➡ Social media has changed. Twitter used to be where everything was organised, but many people left since Musk took over, and the whole platform became much more toxic. ➡ A large amount of new fans arrived in the last few years, outnumbering older fans. That's not a bad thing obviously! But it was kind of like a wave that washed over our previous structures. Everything changed very quickly, and we've struggled to restructure since then. I feel like misinformation has been much harder to control in recent years, simply because a large portion of the fandom don't have a very long history with the group, so don't have the deep background knowledge that helps protect against false narratives. It's also natural for newer fans to be easily upset and overwhelmed by hate, and therefore get drawn into fighting. (To be clear baby ARMY are awesome, and I'm generalising here. This is just about fandom proportions changing, and us struggling to catch up!) So how can we improve? I'm not sure I have all the answers.... I'll ask some questions: ➡ Where should our main base of organisation be? Is twitter really the right place any more? ➡ How can we become more unified in our values, goals and sense of purpose? ➡ How can we have a focused, clear, well thought-out response to 'scandals', and make sure our words won't be used against us or against BTS? And how can we spread the word about what's the right thing to do? How do we make a clear, organised structure for information to be fact-checked and plans to be spread, so it's very easy for casual ARMY to do some simple things to help? ➡ How can we get the message out that we always need to pause, research carefully, and wait for confirmation before reacting to anything? It's ok to say "I don't know if that's true. We don't have enough information yet. We need to wait until we have confirmation." ➡ How can we work on staying calm and focused? How do we reach ARMY who are currently caught up in drama, scandals and fanwars, and show them how to take a step back, de-escalate, block, ignore etc. How can we remind people that 99% of the time, engaging with drama makes it worse? ➡ How do we bring all of this back to Bangtan. Back to their music, their message, their values, their goals, their legacy. We need to always be behaving in a way they'd be proud of. ➡ How can we bring the fun back to things, and focus on motivating each other rather than fighting each other? How do we make ARMY a place where people WANT to spend time, somewhere that feels uplifting? Somewhere that keeps us in touch with the reason we're all here: BTS.

This video made me feel better. I’m a casual ARMY, and I read a comment from someone who was lamenting that apparently we were weren’t voting for Jin’s song “Happy” on mnet, and we weren’t showing him the support that the other members got. This really upset me because I don’t know how to vote for those things, and I wondered how big a deal it was. I love the song, and I’m really looking forward to his album. But do I have to vote for everything to be called ARMY? I agree, positivity is going to get more results. I always thought it was BTS and ARMY’s strength. I loved what ARMY did for Min Yoongi. Let’s do more of that!

I don't categorize myself as any type of ARMY, I am just ARMY. For me, that means I stream, vote, buy, fight for BTS tickets and Merch drops, learn fanchants and do them proudly, laugh with them, cry with them, stand up for them, praise and cheer for them. I don't view any of it as work or exhausting because they are just a group/people I genuinely love and that's how I show up for people I love. Their music and content brings/brought so much healing and happiness into my life and there's no way I will not show up for them to show my utmost appreciation, love, and gratitude for everything they do and have done for me as an ARMY 💜

We should not be more invested in the company drama more than the music a member is releasing. I beg of all armies stop discussing the company drama as if you are one of the shareholders the fandom is becoming unbearable i have to mute new words on my timeline everyday. The excitement of a long awaited member comeback is not in the fandom. The members around are trying their absolute best to make sure we don't feel abandoned nd sad abt all the drama going frm one show to another we should also try our absolute best by giving them the support they deserve. There is a reason why we have to pay attention to this company drama. this company drama at the end of the day is a part of the bigger movement to discredit bts and their legacy. Bts built hybe i dont think you understand how insane kpop fandoms and the big powers are behind s. Korea will attack everything because it is bts adjacenent. Attacks on other hybe groups too is the same thing. There is a reason armys are getting involved when one of the main perpretrators mhj litetally admitted multiple times to wanting bts' downfall. By discrediting hybe it leads the s.korean gp to think all bts achievements and fame are lies just as stupidly as they believe everything else. The hybe groups are untalented agenda affects bts too Boracity didny mention it but a reason we need to pay attention is the importance of getting back at the kpop comminity and calling out their lies and hypocrisy. This is sadly so important too. If you are exhausted mute your words dont participate but dont act like armys are paying attention to company drama is to play make pretend of being shareholders because thats never what it was about. We can never ignore it but yeah we do need to be more excited about music and releases like before. I agree

@@bloopa7011 Am not going jeopardize the comeback of a member to save the company. I stan the artist not the company. If we talk abt mjh nd the company more than the comeback of a member there is obviously something wrong with the fandom. The reason I had to mute words was because the drama was overshadowing a member's ablum which is not normal.

Good video! I agree with most of what is said here. That said, I would say there is a fandom in between casual and core. There are fans who stream as much as their life allows (which may not be considered “properly” because there is only so many hours in a day), supports all the members, vote when they don’t have to go through dozens of steps, and follows both the good and bad news and still choose to be here. Just my thoughts though 😊

Agreed that there are other levels. What about the ones who would take a bullet for any one of the members, but have no time or mental energy to stream, keep up with voting, and follow all the news? 😅 I like ARMY job description titles like ARMY Theorist, Analyst, Recruiter, Archivist, Activist, Statistician, Academic, Legal, Shooter, and Investigator more than the idea of a "core" ARMY who do all the public interactions stuff. I would call them Public Relations and ARMY Defense, instead, and agree there might be only a few thousand. I'm a Recruiter and Sociologist ARMY, and consider myself as "core" as other intense fans who are the loudest. I'm a generalist who disseminates information, but I'm not the first line of defense. And there are millions of us. I think there is a lot of nuance here, and maybe instead of classifying inner circles, there should be more recruitment into the Public Relations, Shooter, Defense, and Legal departments.😂

a thought as a casual army. scandals aside. my theory for why streaming isnt what it used to be: the fandom’s individual music taste no longer converges at bts now that the members are releasing solo music. casual armys at core is here for music. thats why most have strayed in terms of streaming. its not that they dont like a certain member, they simply may not enjoy the type of music that member releases. the songs fall more quicker out of rotation. couple that with the scandals and the fandom climate, theres a reason some casual armys are reluctant to engage in the same way as before. antagonizing those casual armys is not the way to go either. the fandom needs to have more music related events. listening parties are fun. if the fandom is more united and positive in terms of music and are organizing with music in mind, even casual armys that may not enjoy a particular release purely out of taste, may still engage in supportive fandom activity because. well. its fun.

Given these definitions, I do think there's armys between Core and Casual, like myself. There are many armys who support the efforts of the Core, stream correctly, vote as much as they can, donate to events and projects when they can, try to keep up to date with happenings, but aren't the ones organizing, mobilizing, or creating content. IMO those you define as core are more Foundational, but those who support the foundation can be considered core and I'd say there's a lot more than just a couple thousand of those people. Just my thoughts. Also, I think we need to find a balance between paying attention and ignoring things. We need to choose which battles to fight and which to just let die because we physically cannot fight everything. It shouldn't be about choosing 1 or 2, but finding an option 3 that involves being aware but choosing to ignore some things that aren't worth our time to fight.

I agree with this!! I wish I could like it more than once. We should pick the' battles' that are currently causing the most damage or have the loudest voice and once the biggest fall you know the rest will scatter and be easier to handle. I personally think that (besides the negative aspect) the problem is that we are pulled too many ways and can't really concentrate with all the voices and opinions. For myself I have chosen 1 or 2 'core' ARMYs that I try to help with their 'missions' be it reporting or reposting, etc. This allows me to put strong energy into a couple things and I'm not as drained mentally trying to juggle too many voices/opinions. I have also listened to IBT a lot this past week and it has helped a lot 💜💜

Thanks so much for your thoughts. I find your thoughts jump start my thoughts. I am not a core ARMY but I don’t think I fall into the causal ARMY. Maybe a hybrid. I try to do as much as I can, but the constant stream more, vote more, comment more, … more, more, more … gets to be too much at times and I have to take a break. I actually started doing what you suggested and try to make funny, thoughtful or moving comments when the demands are getting so crazy. We need to be loud, but we need to enjoy the music. You can point out that the Rapline is getting less streams and be demanding or thank the people that are streaming and encourage and explain in bit sized pieces to others that may not understand. Promote, cheer, engage and have fun. We can work as a team with different goals. Please don’t bash each other.

Being a core ARMY used to be so rewarding and fun. I remember how much we worked to make BTS successful and how happy we were every time our efforts paid off. In 2017 I was still an university student and despite everything I spent several hours every day just to vote for BTS' first BBMAs nomination. We were so afraid of Beliebers (😂) but our victory felt SO GOOD! Twitter community, while always toxic, used to be like our home. After BTS' enlistment a lot of our fanbases went on hiatus, but I hope they'll return together with BTS. I want to thank all our core ARMYs who stayed to support the boys, all our casual ARMYs for being a huge help and all our baby ARMYs for choosing to support BTS in these tough times. It may not look as fun as it was in the past, but I'm sure our fandom will heal after BTS return. APOBANGPO 💜

this is such a good video once again bora! I think we have all seen this. the smear campaigns are so hard to see and decide how to handle them but what is also frustrating is casual fans and kpoppies jumping in to believe everything. so you can fall into endless traps of trying to explain it and defend them (and some army are super good at this and making really good videos on the facts) but it can get really emotionally heated and turn to solo rhetoric or people ganging up in bad faith just to laugh at the people who are actually invested...unfortunately i believe that is what mhj wanted, for fanbases to get swept up in spending energy on controversy and burning out or becoming bitter so that those people are easier to draw away from hybe and bts when they come back. I think the hate campaigns greatly underestimate how compelling our guys are and how wise, but they are sure trying to apply that pressure on all of us and it is coming from powerful people too so it can seem more 'legit.'. another factor is the timing bc at the same time we are seeing so much upheaval in the world and for US charts there is a ton of distraction and extra big world issues and the election that add to all the stress and our attention is just split. and on top of that other fandoms and labels are using so much payola and the streaming rules are purposefully filtering and turning against us bc they are pretty corrupt and getting more and more openly so...I don't believe any of this will stop ARMY and BTS and i believe far fewer people are actually leaving than it seems like from numbers/social media, it's just that the optics are hard to take when we have those days of breaking records to compare it to so it causes a kind of panic on top of an already precarious time. the boys getting older and being in the military is definitely a time when most fandoms start drifting away, and there are people trying to push that on bts and push the impression of it and it is a very well planned out attack made to appear organic, but if we take a deep breath and focus on the positives, we are actually weathering this so well. we have seven artists we have supported in their absence and one fandom is supporting so so so much music through all of this time and even with everything against us their releases and projects are still the talk of the world. when they come back i do believe that their presence together and the experiences all of us have together is so magical that we can build our own little worldwide island again. Jin has already started it with run jin and happy and i'll be there, and ultimately while we will continue to fight for justice for them and show our support, we may for our own collective health need to also recognize that every song won't top the song before it and that we are putting unrealistic pressures on placement on charts that are rigged in some ways against us. this has always been the case and sometimes we crack it or some songs connect for high charting in spite of those hurtles but i think in our frustration we need to remember that a lot of what seems like people not streaming is actually a combination of the algorithmic forces against us and the timing of releases and different styles of songs resonating with different sections of the fandom and gp differently...it doesn't mean we 'love' some members differently, we really don't need to go that far emotionally and give charts so much credit in our fandom. ARMY loved bts way before the charts and brought them there with that love, and will continue to love them even if the charts block them totally out...i truly believe that while they may lose some people who just follow the trends, this community will always be here for them and each other and become more beautiful and triumphant in other ways as we try to grow old together. this is a hard time for so many reasons and we don't want toxic positivity either, we just have to stay through it. draw the map again and again. experience the pain and the joy both together. right now is pain and this video is a good reminder that we should do our best to not add to it amongst ourselves when there is already enough outside forces against us. we don't need to let them in too much. borahae!

Yet I love BTS wholeheartedly and although I will never leave them, I have been saddened by the shippers and toxic solo stans infiltrating the fandom, the positive response for MHJ in SK, the never-ending smear campaign of Suga,, and just the disrespect and nastiness on social media. A lot of great thoughts in here. By your definition I guess I'm a 'casual' army, but I really don't enjoy the term. Since I wouldn't call my love and open support for them casual. I'm curious by this thought process what someone I think of as casual is to a 'core' army, a non-fan? Or just that they 'aren't army'. I think the reason a lot of 'casual' fans, such as I, shy away from wanting to do more is because when we get near some people who consider themselves OG/core/veteran army, there's always a feeling of condescension because we 'don't understand' the way they felt while supporting them. So I do want to double down on the parting message, to just spread relentless positivity and kindness to each other. Also, that even if someone isn't 'core' army with a huge following online, it doesn't mean that we as 'casual' fans don't make a difference while supporting in a way that's manageable for each of our own lifestyles. In summation 😅 I wish there was another in-between tier to signify that there are armys who DO try as much as they can, but aren't allowed in the cool 'core' kids club. I'm not a fan of being called a casual army 😂 💜 I'm glad though that this video was made, we do need to keep working together and to make sure we are as active and loud as we can be. I will strive to do better as an army 💜

@joymartin8125 yea I forgot that when I first entered the Fandom that I was hesitant to call myself army cause I hadn't felt like I was 'committed' enough or past a knowledge threshold, and this must take that into consideration. That threshold. So a casual music listener isn't quite army yet, and then once you pass that threshold I had felt those years ago, that must be when you become a 'casual army' in this context. I know no harm was meant by the term, glad you felt similar to me 💜

I believe that many times we forget that we are dealing with people. People who daily have to fight their own battles, who have their own problems and who really do not want to add more stress to their lives. Not everyone reacts equally to the same situations, some people can live with many frictions in their life, but for others it is more complicated, and you should be empathetic and not get angry about it. I have seen that there are people on X who get annoyed because you don't do the stream in the way they do it (I'm referring to the stream hours, not the way of doing it), and many try to explain that it's because they have many responsibilities in their life. And despite that, they attack, arguing that they also have many responsibilities and still do stream all day. I speak as someone who tries not to get involved much in these conversations because you end up being canceled. Personally, I am someone who streams on 4 platforms, and I organize myself to support them as much as possible. But I have also been someone who has gone through moments so overwhelming in my life that all I wanted was to rest from everything and move away. Especially when you enter X and only see chaos and discord. Even though we love the boys, we cannot forget that they are musicians, and what we consume from them is music, which is a stimulus. There are people who live overstimulated, and sometimes they just need a break. You cannot attack people for their way of facing situations. You cannot combat uncertainty and stress with attacks; empathy is the best response in those moments. If someone tells you that they try to do their best, then give value to their efforts. You don't know what things that person may be going through or their way of dealing with life situations. Not everyone can act in the same way. I have always seen that they usually speak aggressively, especially on X. Which doesn't help much, because on that social network are what Boracity would call the "ARMY central", there are the majority of ARMYs who support voting, streaming, campaigns, and publicity. So you are attacking and demoralizing the people who ARE supporting. Instead of spending your energy shouting and damaging the good energy, you should try to promote among casual ARMYs on networks like Instagram and TikTok. But promote in a way that makes them feel attracted and comfortable, not with scolding. Put it into perspective, imagine interacting with these people in real life and speaking to them in that way; no one is motivated by mistreatment or aggressive words. Thanks to Boracity for touching on this subject. I think these are moments when we must organize our priorities in the fandom and create strategies that allow us to reach next June. We must be smarter than those behind the discredit and hate campaigns. Because currently, all these feelings of resentment and division are precisely what these campaigns are looking for. We must stop and remember why we are here and gather and protect ourselves among the ARMYs who remain firm and enduring. If we don't protect ourselves among ourselves, no one else will.

Like, udah nggak cukup sighing doang, sekarang udah sampai full eye roll plus internal cussing di kepala.

Yeah, me too. I really don’t get army’s whole superiority complex and I seriously can't stand it. They’re straight up wild...so toxic, acting like they’re better than everyone else. It’s ridiculous. I'm saying this as a 2017 ARMY who turned casual around 2019/2020 because I was beyond done. The fandom just became too much to handle. Honestly, I feel like 2017-2019 was the golden era for BTS and ARMY. After that? This place turned into a total toxic dump, full of negativity.

@@PolarNight_0613 I don’t know why, but it feels like back in 2017-2019, sure, Army could be a bit toxic, especially toward antis or haters, but at least they had heart, some pride, respect, even a bit of class, you know? They moved smart, with some dignity. It's hard to explain, but that’s just how it felt. Being an army back then actually came with a sense of pride, like, "Yeah, I’m Army," and Army ≠ just any K-pop fans. But now? 😐🤐

I love that u took the time to make this video because i think both the casual and the core armies needed to hear this to understand each other, I became an army in 2021 and was a casual army as u said and have now since a month ago started my journey to became a core army, So i understood both sides when u talked about it today and even though I'm new i felt the pain of both sides. Thankyou so much for making this and reassuring us. Let's unite and make bts proud army

Thank you for this video - for cutting through all the noise these past months. I am glad that I am a core army based on your definition. I have been seeing more negative posts on Army twt and when combined with external smear campaigns, it can feel overwhelming. In the end, we are all connected by our love for BTS and their music, and we need to trust them like they asked us to. 💜

Oh my gosh. As a (mostly) core army with a casual army daughter, this rings so true. I am hoping everyone holds true to No Nugu November so we can bring back the positivity! Also, I think casual army CAN be mobilized when it really matters-such as the hate campaign against Yoongi. But I think that is when the core needs to think about what they hype. You have such great suggestions and I love your videos!

Thank you for your thoughts, Bora. Two of my friends were in Korea on a tour (of members' hometowns!) and were in Seoul at the time of the counter-protest at Hybe. Their group joined the other ARMY in front of the building and they posted a video on FB showing them leading the BTS fanchant. You are right, we have to express our love loudly and immediately when the haters stage idiocy like this. The only reason their hateful action was neutralised was because ARMY almost immediately swarmed them with their love for BTS. I love BTS and by your definition I am casual ARMY. I pre-ordered Jin's album (full set) on 15 Oct, as soon as pre-ordering was available. I play BTS music and watch BTS content every day. But here's the thing - I get turned off when I see some ARMY haranguing other ARMY to keep streaming because "the numbers are low" or scolding because we are not streaming enough. Jin has said "if ARMY is happy, then I'm happy." He never said "I will only be happy with a billion streams on Spotify". I am happy when listening to and viewing BTS content; and engaging with reactors and other ARMY who enjoy BTS content. But whenever I see those scolding, nagging exhortations, I click on the "Don't recommend this channel button". I love BTS. Do not tell me that I do not love them enough. So thank you for shining a light on this issue, Bora. Look forward to Happy, my fellow ARMYs! We should feel love, not anxiety. Apobangpo!

i love you boracity. your videos motivate me a lot. i think im kinda in between core and casual, because sometimes my job takes a lot of energy from me and there have been small periods of time where i dont know whats happening in the fandom but i like to be informed about everything bad or good stuff related to bts to know how to help in every aspect (streaming, reporting, trending hashtags, blocking, sharing goals, projects, etc) but lately i've been having a lot of negative feeling towards the whole situation, even the fandom that i love so much and makes me feel so proud. i was feeling stressed, frustrated, angry, very sad and disappointed, but i keep going because bts has always been here for us even when it's been hell for them since the begining. i was feeling so disappointed with the fandom wondering what had happend to us. (i know it sounds dramatic but this bond and this comunity is really important to me for many reasons) and now that i watched you video i feel like it grounded me in a good way 🥹 i dont know how else to say it, like it opened my eyes and mind again. i won't stop supporting bts and army (NEVER!) but i'll try to not get blindsided by the negativity trying to break us. and i'll take the kind, positive aproach. at the end that's the reason why i love us (bts and army) and want to protect us. thank you soooo much for your videos and your hard work boracity. to me you're one of our lights in the dark guiding us. 💜 i purple you!!! 💜

@@meraldlopesillas8193 I think a lot of us were in danger of getting sucked in. As a Jin bias, I was seeing a lot of "Army doesn't like him" comments from angry solos because he wasn't getting huge streaming numbers. And I had to give myself a talking to to not engage with that mindset. Army does love him and he's doing just fine. This video and a chat on a video by Asian Entertainment and Culture with a lot of other positive Army has really helped today. Glad you feel better too!

Very interesting comments on core army vs casual army. One way I always talk about it is that there was a major shift during covid, creating pre-covid armys and post-covid armys. Post-covid armys now make up the majority of the fandom, and I notice two key points: Post-covid armys were never around when BTS were active like they used to be and thus don't understand our old fandom culture - even during PTD LA (I went to all four shows), concert etiquette had already been thrown out the window and no one did fanchants unless it was a super popular one, like the names at the start of DNA, but even with DNA, no one did the fanchants in the rest of the song. Compare that with the AMA DNA fanchant, or if you watch fancams from the SYS Tour, everyone in all cities and countries knew all the fanchants. One of my favorite ones is Boy With Luv at the Rosebowl, also in LA. Post-covid armys never lived through old promotion schedules and didn't thus live through common fandom culture experiences. They never watched music show promotions in real time and thus never learned from Korean fans. Not to say we must follow thhose "rules" but there was certainly a certain culture when it comes to live performances that has disappeared, one that was fun. I miss it. Second point is that post-covid armys never lived the genuine struggle BTS went through to get where they are today, particularly BTS' rise in the West, so these post-covid armys don't put in as much effort in terms of active support because they don't personally feel there is a strong need for it - like consistent voting for all awards and proper streaming for all releases. It used to be "Well, if we don't do it, then no one will, and we have to, because BTS only has army." There used to be this unanimous understanding that when an album or song is released, everyone is streaming and buying correctly and constantly, because army is all BTS has. Now, I'm unsure if it's the thought of "Well, someone else will do it" or "BTS are so successful that I don't need to." It's as if that intense passion to do whatever it takes to loudly shout BTS from the rooftops by doing whatever we can to support them is gone. And it was like that before they enlisted. I think BTS just reached a point where they became so super global that new fans just don't understand how hard we as a fandom worked. It was never us just watching BTS rise from the sidelines, we literally climbed up this mountain with them. It was a joint effort. Also, I high-key think this changed a lot too when BTS stopped being active on Twitter. Twitter was where army mobilized the most, now so many live on Insta and TikTok and there isn't the same level of serious support, like voting, streaming, etc. For context, I'm a 2016 army!

As always thank you for trying to keep us focused and engaged. I too am feeling the negativity but don't want to just ignore the bad. We need some kind of project that focuses on the good. We just got our sunshine back, we should be celebrating that and Jin's new project, keeping Jimin on the charts, hyping RM's new documentary, celebrating V's Layover on vinyl releasing, Suga's many wins from his D-Day album and tour and congratulating our Maknae JK on taking over the music industry. I am so proud of everything they do, we need a way to share that joy amongst each other and the members!

Thanks for your insight (once again :) Although I understand, I am really tired of all the frustrated comments from core ARMY bashing and blaming everyone for not trying "their best". It is like no matter what you do, it is never enough. I agree that we need more positive motivations in this world of anxiety and negativity. I continue to be loud for BTS by posting thier positive achievements and fun moments. Share smile and laughters is way more attractive.

Thank you, Boracity Magazine for this much needed opinion! As a Core ARMY, it's so funding hard? Not only do I have to stream, vote, mute/block antis, consume all content, encourage other ARMY, spread good vibes, I also closely watch the new media, pick who should feed me info. It's so tiring. But, spreading love and support to others is much better than hating. Jin is having his new album, and Hobi is out! ARMY, fighting!

I'm so glad there's someone with your visibility talking about this in the fandom. It was easier for more armys to be supportive before because every achievement was so huge! Now our fandom takes it all as an obligation and it weights. It weights on the armys who organize projects and on the ones who participate. There's no joy on achieving goals anymore. People will not stay in somewhere that makes them feel bad. Hell, I've been an army for almost a decade now and I decided to step away from the fandom for a bit because I couldn't take it. I just don't know how to fix it. I'm here for them but I genuinely don't know what to do. Jin is putting so much effort into giving content to make us happier (literally) and it seems like most of us aren't even able to enjoy it. When I think about it I'm just heartbroken. It's hard on them and it's hard on us. They need to know we are here, this has always been the base of our relationship with them. We show our support for each other. Let's keep fighting, let's keep loving together
