Aurora/Briar Rose is absolutely one of my 2 favorite Disney princesses, the other being Belle because her personality and looks are most like my own so I can relate to her, for Sleeping beauty though it has to do with my love of history, I am a history major, with a specific interest in Pre-Roman Europe and Medieval Europe so her aesthetic fits right into the Medieval world. However, I will admit the clothing in the movie is nowhere near historically accurate, but seeing as it’s a Disney movie geared toward children and has fairytale fantasy elements to it I’m perfectly okay with letting that detail slide. Also the environment does a good job evoking the Medieval feel even better than the costumes. If you ever have the time to look more into how the movie was made I’d highly encourage it. It’s actually quite fascinating. For example, throughout production, artists meticulously hand painted intricate backgrounds for every scene in the movie! Also everyone’s favorite villainess, Maleficent, is inspired by Celtic (Irish, Scottish, Welsh) mythology, particularly about the Fae.

Part 2 is going to be exciting! The idea of a color-changing Aurora dress is just perfect… I do think that the background music drowned out your audio a bit in some parts, especially towards the second half of the video, but otherwise great editing.

Hm, so the dye is meant for cotton, but what about the threads and the zipper? The zip shouldn't be too obvious since it's invisible, but still. I actually laughed at your "no fear with Janome".😅 With that particular zipper foot - sure, with the standard foot that came with my model - nope. Or maybe my machine just senses fear...

]I made sure to use 100% thread but surprisingly?? The zipper took the dye?? I was a little concerned but a number of my polyester lace took the dye very well!

I’m so excited to see the finished result! I just know it’s going to be AMAZING! I have a question: Since you can’t iron it once it’s dyed, how will you handle smoothing out wrinkles, since it’s 100% cotton? Can you steam it, or will the heat from the steam ruin the color change property?

THE 100 DOLLAR QUESTION. I am struggling and I'm going to cover that in part Two because the steaming is not working. at. all. Apparently you can use an iron on low heat? I have to re-dye the skirt because the color didn't take dark enough ( I will explain, it's been a process). I'm going to try to hang the skirt better when I dry it? Honestly I'm still trying to find a good solution for the wrinkles.

If anyone has children and wants to use the magnet-seam allowance trick please be extremely careful because if a child swallows 2 or more they can attract to teach other in the intestines. Imagine go make an 2 inch wide tube of fabric, ask someone to put a magic somewhere in it, then make it look like a snake, but laid left to right in rows. Then running the other magnet across the tube/faux intestines, as you find it they will clamp together. See the fabric trapped? That would be the intestines, the tissue has blood cut off from that area and it can die, I don’t need to tell everyone what that does. Yes, swallowing them the magnet ms would all be on the inside, except we can show peristalsis with a cotton tube

Also true for pets!! Also if a child or animal swallows a thread, embroidery floss, yarn, tinsel, etc, it can KILL them! It is called a linear foreign body injury. The thread saws through the intestines as they try moving it through, or one end can get caught in the stomach and they throw up or start trying to digest the other end (I had to sign a release before the animal hospital tried making my cat vomit the embroidery floss up--it all came up at once, and she was fine, but even that was a risk! Thank god I realized and she was fine), same effect. *If you realize or SUSPECT that your child or pet has swallowed thread/tinsel/yarn IT IS ER OR EMERGENCY VET TIME!* It can be difficult for even excellent surgeons, cause you're dealing with thousands of slices in the intestines. Thank you for the magnet warning!

OMG so I picked this one up at the craft store, it's meant to be a pin holder but I stuffed it a little firmer and use it to iron my bust. You can google tailors pressing ham and they have tutorials on how to make them!

It's only meant to be used on cotton but I dyed a poly chiffon and a poly net and ALOT of dye washed out. I filmed the process so you can get an idea on what it looks like on polyester!
