Squid fan, here. Seattle finally got competent defense in line, now that Jessica Campbell is AC. Borgen was kind of useless despite being an OG Kraken. @graydon54976 сағат бұрын
This trade just killed the Rangers' future. I don't think that this current Rangers "core" can get the Stanley Cup done. Trading away Kakko was one of the worst possible moves the Rangers could have made. He is one of the only young bright spots on the team. If there was anyone who needed to go, it was either Zibby, Lindgren, or Miller. This move has Buch/JT Miller written all over it. We will look back in a short few years time and realize the mistake that this move was.
@Wayf4rer6 сағат бұрын
You can build a team around Laf, Fox, and Igor. The issue is in moving out the dead weight. The Zibanejad contract specifically is shaping up to be an absolute nightmare if he doesn't bounce back.
@graydon54976 сағат бұрын
@@Wayf4rer I agree but kakko was a great piece on a decent contract who had the 5v5 scoring that our more expensive veterans don’t have and he had some good intangibles like pretty good defensive ability and a pretty decent puck protection/possession abilities. I just think this wasn’t the right move. The zib contract is also not great and I think at the time the AAV made sense but I always questioned the full NMC.

HERE HERE! I can't believe there are people who think this is a good trade(my coworker who's a Rangers fan and who clearly doesn't watch the games, only the highlights.) Chris Drury is out of control. He's running the Rangers like a union-shop: we don't play who's best, we play who's next. there's a lot of seniority in that locker room and it don't amount to jack shit when it's on the ice. only when the 3rd and 4th lines go out things happen but you bench and then trade the guy? holy shit man. they could have nurtured him if he was "so bad" but instead they bailed on him like a cheap part-timer. Absolutely ignorant.

He did this in Washington and set some young talent back as well as got a couple young up & comers traded. Dude is awful when it comes to dealing with young guys in his lineup so he just let's them go. Awful coaching and he should be on the hot seat but doesn't sound like he is, which is crazy to me.

They just wasted a player that had potential. The fact that the organization was mad at his comment and then traded him for a right handed defenseman that they already had with Trouba Is a joke. From the moment he was drafted 2 overall they treated him like shit. They refused to give him ice time, they kept scratching him over 4 line players. Wouldn’t the players that played more games this season take accountability other than Kakko? This team isn’t going to turn this around. They are in the metro one of the hardest division,and for a team that was 2 wins away from a Stanley cup final appearance. They better just hope that have draft picks this summer.
@controlleddemolition91123 сағат бұрын
SMH over that move. No, he didn't turn out to be "the best Finnish player ever", as some Finns were predicting. However, he was one of the more productive players this year. When the Rangers were winning early, one reason was that the line of Chytil-Kakko-Cuyle hadn't been on the ice for an opposing goal through close to 10 games. As bad as this trade looks, it's not even the worst one Drury made. The Buchnevich trade was even more ridiculous. Drury needs to go, and if the owners won't do it, I hope the fans remove him by not attending games.
@DannyD11996 сағат бұрын

If Pat Verbeek is on the hot seat for his end of the Trouba deal, Drury needs to be on a seat as hot as the sun at this point. Sure, you freed up Igor money, but you did it at the expense of your reputation and your locker room. Absolute shambles. Sad part is I totally expect Dolan to try and step in to shake things up, which is bad news for the Rangers if you've seen how the Knicks have been under his leadership.

Drury is on a power trip. Rangers leaders were Trouba, Goodrow, Kreider. Who is Drury going after? Goodrow shipped out for nothing, Trouba for nothing, Kreider shopped - has any of these moves improved the team at all? What was the plan? Was he making room for McDavid or something? Now Kakko complains and is shipped out for nothing. Does he realize his job is to improve the team, not destroy it? Rangers had bad timing on injuries to Trouba and Fox in the playoffs and they were still completive. He could have run it back with the same group for one more run, improve the D a little and hope injuries work out. Instead, he blows up the leadership group. Good plan.
