Kira. Please, please, PLEASE make this a series. What does a humble leaf live for if not vaguely historical, occasionally nerdy fantasy nonsense, whether it be clothing, or characters, or what have you? It inspires me to make my own nonsense, which is just perfect.

For your leafy poncho doohickey, you might investigate the possibility of buying wool sweaters at the thrift store and then felting them in your washer/dryer. It makes a great way to create more sculptural clothing pieces, because once you get the wool well felted it won’t fray so you can cut yourself some complicated edges.
@PricklyAlpaca2 жыл бұрын
That's an excellent idea, thanks for the suggestion!
@athena14912 жыл бұрын
how does felting int the washer and dryer work? and are the results like, semi flat pieces or thicker clumps to the the space to move around?
@Rotten_Ralph Жыл бұрын
@@athena1491 wool clumps and felts with heat detergent and agitation. They will shrink and become more solid, they shouldn’t clump unless you roll them up in a tight ball before hand.

hearing about your German heritage was really cool! This is very niche, but I'd love to see more Dirndl-adjacent designs. I'm German myself, and have always wanted more gender non-conforming designs based off traditional German clothes. Dirndl but overall and pants version? masc clothing with pretty embroidery, laces and an apron? I NEED IT

I am part Austrian and part French and hearing about this also really made me happy. I really like our traditional clothes but they tend to get seen as kitsch which is very unfortunate.

For the applique on the knit vest, you could use felt! You could embroider the details on the small pieces(leaf and mushroom details!) and then blanket stitch them onto the vest! All of these designs are so cool!!

I would LOVE to see you make that candle dress into a fabric pattern on a place like Spoonflower or such where you can print your own fabric. That kind of design would make such neat outfits!

HEY HEY! Blanket statement cause a lot of ppl have asked! You're welcome to make these designs in your own sewing/crafting adventures or draw your ocs in them! Go wild ✨ I'd just really appreciate it if you credit the design back to me if you post the online and SEND ME PICTURES bc I'd really love to see the final results 🥺💕 🍄You can find prints from the merch design section of this video in my store! pricklyalpacaart.storenvy.com/ 🍓 Anything that hasn't already been added to the store will be added in the next couple of days! The specific products I got printed from Vograce will only be available for purchase when I table at conventions in person, or through my Patreon (which I'm hoping to launch in October). However, if enough people show interest in any of those products, I might do some bulk orders! Let me know if that's something y'all would be interested in!

Crochet dweeb, here! If you wanted to make a crocheted vest, it's actually pretty simple! One of the first things most people learn to make is a "granny square", and when you're practicing said granny squares, you tend to end up with a bunch of them. Then you basically just sew them together in a vest-shape (pull-over is easiest!) and you can add premade ribbed edging or make your own (also very very simple!) Heck, I'm planning to work on one myself this year!
@Vanessa_5432 жыл бұрын
For the Moss cloak ,you might want to make the cloak out of felt by the yard or wool like Rachel did in her video, then do needle felting on top of that . I hope that helped a little.

For the raincoat idea, I was hit with remembering there was clear raincoats. You could create a design on a bottom layer with all the colors and then somehow use Velcro to stick the design under the see through coat and bam. A design that won't be destroyed and if it does, you can remake the design underneath. You can make multiple designs for different seasons. Now I want to draw that idea out ....
@happytofu52 жыл бұрын
uh thats such a good idea!
@plant_sheep2 жыл бұрын
For the rain coat you could try making your design on normal fabric then add a clear raincoat material as a second layer to prevent the inner layer from getting dirty and it would make it easier to clean plus the clear layer could be used to add 3-D detailing =D
@athena14912 жыл бұрын
for the wool eye dress... hehe, wool-eye, woolly, my brain went to... -pin the dress firmly to the form in the way it shapes to your body, and that its taut -mark where you want the eyes, add seam allowance for when you fold it on itself for a finished edge, or maybe do an edge banding instead that looks like eyelashes? -sew along the marks to keep the yarn from unravelling when you cut the eye shapes out -cut the eye shapes out, -and finally, sew a layer of fabric onto the inside, and either paint the eyes onto it, or use fabric with a print, or multiple layers of fabric, or whatever floats your boat Also, if i had all these outfits, i would never need another outfit ever again, theyre all so great!!! nighthawkinlight has a good video on waterproofing fabrics, so, maybe that for the raincoat, but it also looks like it would be a good fluffy winters coat, like, lions mane fungus is all fuzzy life fur so, it could work
@elmfao18242 жыл бұрын
Recommendation: Iron on transfers might be a good way to do the images on the clothing like the eyes. You'd need a printer and the paper can be kind of expensive (especially if you get the really good kind), but they do pretty well on stretch material since it doesn't really change the fibers like fabric paint does. Most people just use pre-made images from the internet, but since you already create your own art, it could be a less time consuming way to get it on the clothes.

hi, if you're going to make the sweaters yourself, I'd recommend crocheting over knitting, crocheting seems more peaceful for beginners (or at least it was for me), because with knitting, the stitches can slip out and that's a problem, and it's also harder to learning to . On the other hand, with crochet, the stitches can't fall out completely, and it's not that hard to learn, and it's even faster after a little practice. I recommend you try it on a scarf or something like that first. I wish you a nice rest of the day.

dude these are so sick i really love the spider one. for the big spiders you could probably cut a spider oit of some fabric that wont fray easy or that you could seal the edges of and hand sew it to the mesh sleeve, and if its velvet that would hide the stitched on there pretty well. also just an idea for the more gradient-y designs, I've been making this flower petal dress and I've found painting on dye with a brush onto a waterproof tray works pretty well especially if you add water onto parts of the fabric that need to be well blended. for some of the dark ones like the candle dress, you could find an off-white or even orange fabric and dye the rest that dark blue-purple so you don't have to worry about bleach 🐸

Okay, absolutely obsessed with the spider shirt, the monster shirt, the pumpkin dress and the boo dress! For the raincoat- there are paints out there specifically for vinyl that should do the trick! A lot of them are for car interiors and meant to see wear and be flexible, so you could still spray your garment without it becoming "now that's a pizza"

An idea for the mushroom raincoat is you can paint some thicker type cotton and then you could make oil cloth with it. Oil cloth is the original rain coat material, you basically just paint linseed oil on cloth and let it dry so it becomes waterproof. It would probably take a while and I’d suggest further research because linseed oil can be dangerous but I think if you lay it out flat it shouldn’t be in danger of combusting.

For the eye sweater it would be super cool to see u knit or crochet the dress yourself and then crochet the eyes in a smaller weight yarn to use them as appliques!! For the raincoat, using wool and lanolizing it after constructing your garment will make it very water resistant! It can also be fully waterproofed via oiling techniques with linseed oil and beeswax

Favorite outfits for me were the victorian spellcaster bodice, spider blouse, the LEAF PONCHO OUTFIT (this screams little druid bard to me and I love her), and all of the outfits from the candle dress onward. I actually really like the eyeball dress?? I think you definitely could thrift flip a knit dress, and I think it'd be cool if all the eyes were made from a variety of fabrics. Like you could use up fabric stash scraps and/or thrift a bunch of clothes. I think it'd be a fun One Day Make challenge. The dirndl is GORGEOUS, I HAVE to see that made into reality. Also, you could totally make a whole collection of spooky selkie dresses. You could easily make a ghost one and a spiderweb one. Also, I have at least one friend who I could see would legitimately wear the monster dress. I think if I were to make one of these, it would be the leaf poncho with cute autumn embroidered pants hands down.
