I really thought it would be more than it is. I am glad to see prices starting to stabilize.

After I get my Proxisky mount this will probably be contender to put on saddle. Would love to do some live streams with it in background.

Nice news but a telescope presentation with its Ronchi and defocus patterns would give some peace of mind about quality and value. My 140 Askar has excellent patterns, but they should be shown each time, and preferably matched to the serial number. Good patterns = no hesitation acquiring it.

Will my EQ6-R mount handle this scope? Thanks
@highpointscientific11 күн бұрын
Great question! For visual work and planetary imaging, the EQ6-R mount should be able to handle the 30lb Askar 160. However, for long exposure deep sky astrophotography, we recommend a mount with at least a 60lb carrying capacity.

It costs over 3k and it needs a field flattener?

All depends on the glass quality. That's the most important part....

no flattener or reducer yet for a triplet?.. so how can you say "ready and out of the box solution"? when bits are missing that makes it unusable for photography until they bring out the bits for it. It's not "out of the box" when the box doesn't contain everything you need. also find it a bit weird at the price point, as soon as reducers and flatteners are added to the cost, you're dangerously close to the Askar 151PHQ..

Big scopes are getting cheaper but the mounts which can handle them are getting expensive.😢

As usual, it is unclear which glasses are used in lenses. Probably the cheapest, as always. I hope this series will be better in quality than the younger 140 ARO model, which turned out to be very unsuccessful and has a lot of defects in optics tests. By the way, the guaranteed temperature range should be extended beyond minus 10 C. Such a small range indicates a poor selection of frame materials, which begin to bend and press on the lenses as the temperature drops.

Too much weight for my Eq6r pro mounts. I will stick with my Explore Scientific ed152cf. The carbon fiber saves at least 5lbs which keeps me far enough under my max payload.

They are still hiding what glass is used in these triplets.
