Remember when Citrix aggregated desktops with VDI and then it imploded because VDI has a problem with latency? AI Inference in the datacenter has the same problem with latency. 1. She won't pay 20% she will pay 23.8% as there is a 3.8% high income investor fee on capital gains. Paying $4,284,000 in taxes is not something to take lightly. It's $1,584,000 more than paying 15% 2. There are plenty of ways to diversify her portfolio, use the money in her portfolio and greatly reduce the tax. Selling to diversify is one of the worst things she can do. 3. She needs to speak with a tax attorney fast, because how her stock is held will make an enormous difference. Let's say it is in her 401K. That means it is subject to ordinary income tax, even if it is a stock, because she can't use Net Unrealized Gains because she doesn't work for the company anymore. There are so many potential issues she has, that this is a long conversation with a professional, not a call into a show.

The truth is that this is really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It requires a certain level of diligence, no doubt, which is something ordinary investors lack, and so a financial advisor often comes in very handy. My friend just pulled in more than $84k last month alone from his investment with his advisor. That is how people are able to make such huge profits in the market.

The first day SCHD is positive in your IRA, sell it and focus on growth stocks. SCHD is a great retirement fund once you have a lot of cash. It's what an annuity should be. Pay you consistently yet doesn't F you in so many ways like the annuity... 50 SCHD, 25 JEPI (less year over year growth but pays out much more to increase your income), 25% rock solid single companies paying consistently monthly or quarterly. NVIDIA’s stock price in late 2004 was around $0.18 per share (adjusted for splits). NVIDIA’s stock price today is around $131.60 per share. Calculation: The stock price increased by a factor of approximately 731 (from $0.18 to $131.60). If the stock is worth $18 million today, we can calculate how much needed to be invested in 2004 by dividing $18 million by 731. So, the initial investment would have been: $24,623. Thanks GPT. Obviously if she worked for them before that they may have had a lower stock price.

Screw higher capital gain tax, If I had 18M I'd cash out all of it even if had to pay 30% on it. That's still more than enough for a lifetime for two people. Just put 10M into some dividend stocks at 2-3% yield. Even at 2% yield, you'd get 200K a year just form that and you still have 2-3M to spent besides that.
@JayDizzle07082 ай бұрын
The most important question was not asked… what kind of account is this stock sitting in? If it’s in a profit sharing 401k then capital gains have nothing to do with the question. It can be rolled into an IRA and diversified free of tax then and there. Then you’re taxed on distributions. If these are ISO’s or NSO’s then she will show income when she exercises the options. IF these are sitting in a non qualified account like they’re assuming with little to no basis then she will only Pay 15% because cap gains do not increase your taxable income which is what the rates are based on.

Well explained. Thank you for bringing up this video. Financial education is indeed required for more than 70% of the society in the country, as very few are literate on the subject. Thanks to Caroline Suzan Olson, the lady you recommended.

Truly facing this recession without investment is actually risky; salaries are easily spent off. This inflation has taught people the importance of multiple income investment, which helps a lot.

I was advised to diversify my portfolio among several assets, such as stocks and bonds, since this can protect my portfolio for retirement. I'm seeking to invest $200K across markets but don't know where to start. Who is this, Caroline Suzan Olson? How can I get in touch with her? please.
@MehdiVerlinden-w7z2 ай бұрын
She is a US-based CFA. Just search for Caroline Suzan Olson online, and you'll find her official website where you can learn more about her services and even schedule a consultation. Trust me, getting started with her is one of the best decisions I've made.

I'd honestly just diversify, maybe you pay an extra 5% in tax but I think that's worth it to ensure that the money is stable.

Stop underestimating the taxes. 20% Federal. Add State taxes too. Add the 3.8% NIIT tax too. Forget 20% it could be closer to 29%!

@@rory644 I'm not worried about the 18M taxable in the video. I'm thinking of those who only had 100k to 500k that invested in something that took a half year, year, or two to get to 1 or 2 million and have to pay short term of 46% or long term of nearly 30%. Hard work, skill, research, and luck over 10 or so years prior that ended up, yes benefiting but also feeling like a penalty for trying to acquire wealth initially. I understand the reasoning for it, but still sucks in such cases. Later the taxes will be much lower once throttled back to more traditional investment approach.

@cyoohoos If I didn't know the best path to take, I'd probably be one who would call into a financial show to ask questions. That's because I wouldn't know how to take the first step if I were in that kind of situation. And they led her to good advice, so it was a good thing regardless.

Decent advice for a novice. Many of us have an idea of what she owns. It has potential to continue to rise. So here is what a pro does. They don't sell the shares. They use a "collar" options strategy. It is essentially the combination of a protective put with a covered call. It costs you a little upside, but it protects you incase the stock falls. You continue to ride the stock until you are way more sure it won't produce outsized gains. Then you start to sell and pay the tax man.

Sell 16M to diversify and get hit with the capital gains tax. If the company is Nvidia which I suspect leave there 1 to 2M. Anyway, this is a super nice problem to have.

I'm stuck in this same boat as I bought a stock 25 years ago that is up 46500%. Getting it out without paying excessive tax will likely involve slowly milking it to the tune of around $250k a year after I retire. At the current value that would take me 11 years assuming it won't go up which it certainly will as I have been seeing returns approaching 20% for the last decade. In reality I should be able to take $250k a year out for the rest of my life I calculate once I retire in 2-4 years and still leave a substantial nest egg for my wife and son.
