Max, if you go back to FF7R and watch the History of the Ancients cutscene where Shinra has its propaganda museum display, you can really see the scale of the world as the display zooms out and shows the locations of all the reactors connected to the main system in Midgar. It's like a partial space view of the world.

Max explaining LITERALLY ANYTHING related to FF7 always gives me "Charlie from Always Sunny explaining how Pepe Silvia doesn't exist" vibes, and I love it to death.

I think from what I've seen of the gameplay, they essentially made the world map scaled down with the towns scaled up. If you ever ran around the map in dissidia 012 then it reminds me of that except not completely barren.

One thing Im looking forward to most (since its already confirmed the Gold Saucer arc is in) is the resolution between Barret and Dyne. The OG was emotional enough, but the remake pt 1 really did Barret justice as a tough exterior/soft interior type of guy, but I am NOT emotionally ready for the Dyne part because I know theyre gonna expand upon it and with the voices, facial animations and whatnot, I know its gonna hit me lol and yes, Barret has always been my favourite character

It even says at the top of the map "Junon Region". When at the chocobo ranch on the demo it says "Grasslands" when they check the map. This is just 1 section of the eastern continent.

Junon's size was really understated on the OG world map, It's now the large military base it was supposed to be. I'm expecting we'll get a lot of stuff to do there aside from the story.
