I know people are disappointed that there won't be Chocobo breeding in Rebirth, but if I recall correctly, you couldn't breed Chocobos until after Meteor is summoned, so they might be saving it for the third game.

I'm feeling the same as well. The amount of grind you do in most open world games is something I always enjoy very much. Plus, being a JRPG I loved playing in the past makes this one of my most anticipated games for 2024. This is probably the only game I'll buy on the day of release in a long time.

Part of what made Breath of the Wild such a huge hit was the fact that it took a familiar world- Hyrule, and made it an open world. There were so many references in that game to past Zeldas, especially OoT. Through the entire game it was exciting to see X location in the open world. The lost woods, Hyrule Castle, the Temple of Time, Death Mountain, the various races and so many more little nods. The game just oozed nostalgia and little reminders. FF7 ('97) is a contemporary of OoT ('98). Many didn't even get a Playstation right away so they may have played these 2 games really close together, and they were both genre defining, company defining, platform defining titles. It took 20 years to have a new OoT like moment for Zelda, in BotW. It was a moment that felt like the franchise had just taken a huge step into a new era. This FF7 Remake trilogy is doing this for Final Fantasy. I know its not the first open world FF, but it's the first to do it right. They loaded the world with content and things to do. They loaded it with FF7 nostalgia as every enemy, location, NPC, get a glow up. Max says Rebirth is going to be the main game of this trilogy, the game we have been waiting for for 20 years. I agree we have been waiting, but i also think we should not underestimate part 3. People don't know what these modern consoles can really do. We've been stuck in cross gen for too long. Now that we're getting true next gen games, I think they will blow us away. In part 3, I'm expecting full persistent airship flight, similar to the starship experience in Star Citizen. Full underwater submarine gameplay. Insane battles against weapons. And a Wutai continent more fleshed out than any of us imagined, complete with new Shinra war. By all means look forward to Rebirth, but I truly believe the final game will be a grand finale and top Rebirth. I think this trilogy will define future FF games too, with long formats and multiple full price releases per title. THIS is Final Fantasys BotW moment.

I did enjoy the individual skills each party member brought in 15. One took photos to story book your journey, another "I've come up with a new recipe!", and then the last was a hunter. Noctis could fish as well which I'll admit i sunk more hours into than I should've. I took so many photos of my fishing adventures. I like increasing my Chocobo level with different foods when we camp too on top of camping and driving. The monster crossings along the roads were a nice touch to add more life to the world as well. I liked the small details like characters getting dirty after a while or wet during the rain. Or even doing side quests and getting upgrades for the camera, or new recipes, or even better fishing gear and of course the upgrades for the car. I turned mine into a off road golden monster truck. The story may not be there but 15 is a fun game worth checking out.

I believe the scalable wall out in the Junon area that is designed for the Black Chocobos are most likely a path to some good treasure and not to scale the entire mountain to get to the other side. I'd love to be wrong though.

One thing I think we should keep our expectations in check for is getting different coloured chocobos and going back to areas to explore previously locked parts of it. The devs have only mentioned having a chocobo for each area, not about bringing them into other areas (which kinda defeats the purpose of having to catch a new one every time imo). Maybe it's something you will be able to do when you get a golden chocobo in Part 3.

An interesting concern I have, is green and blue chocobos had to do with climbing and running in water in ff7 Black chocobos could fly in tactics, and if they exist in ff7 I believe they were the ones capable of doing both.

I've been replaying FF7 remake and my god... I don't want to say i forgot how much i loved the game because it was a genuinely emotional experience playing it the first time around, but my god do i love that game. I can't put it down. I bought integrade, but purposefully held off on playing it because i knew i was going to do another full run once the second game was around the corner. Excitement isn't even the word. I've already pre-ordered it on amazon. February is the worst month of the year when you live in North America. Its cold, you're REALLY sick of winter. It stinks. Rebirth is going to make it a lot better in 2024.

What I want to know, does your currently non-controlled characters use intelligent attacks, like using attacks that build the stagger gauge or do they just move around and attack/spell/heal on occasion like they did in Remake? IOW, in Remake, if you did not quickly switch between and give commands, their ATB was not filling very quickly and they attacked pretty slowly. Lots of things to complain about in Ever Crisis but I do like that in the Auto mode, the two uncontrolled characters are constantly attacking(physical or magic) or healing, not just standing around being semi-passive. They also, for the most part, are making smart decisions, knowing when to pressure, what attacks to use and when to heal. I say all of this because my reflexes are not what they were when I was a teen(back in the 80's). So I have enough to focus on taking control of one character.

It looks like the crafting system might be similar to kingdom hearts? Craft new things for xp, in doing so you level up your crafting level which gives you more things to craft. Gives us a reason to explore for rare materials if we end up being able to craft good equipment down the line

Max really is farming videos from that demo footage he got, lol. I'm here for it, too! I watched his vod on Twitch, and it was 2 glorious hours of him just loving on FF7, and my favorite part was when he was just letting the footage play while he was eating his food. He looked up from his food and into the camera and said, "chat, this footage is wonderful!" Even while enjoying a meal, STILL. His praise was for how great Rebirth looks. I don't think any of us has a fraction of the love for this game that Max has.

Now we just need an option to play coop with 2 friends who control your other characters only during combat! They could watch you (or you watch them) explore and such, and when any battle starts they can, at any time, press start and control a designated character. I would go berserk! For reference, that is kinda how me and my friends played ff7 back in the day. We would pick a character and whoever’s file it was would play the game, but during battles we would pass the controller around when it came to our designated character and make the decisions! I was always Cloud or Tifa, brother was Red XIII until we got Cid, and best friend was anybody (mostly Aerith) until we got Vincent. We had a blast because we set our characters with different roles. Cloud and tifa were always Cecil/Paladin type with cover, cure, and revive and any attack augments like double cut or added-effect-drain. Aerith, barret, and Vincent were black mages (artillery) with slash all and Red and Cid were summoners (Phoenix saved us so many times). Take turns playing mini games at gold saucer, getting jump-scared by Emerald weapon while trying to go to the crashed plane to see if we missed anything, making fun of the goofy polygons but then always sitting through and enjoying every single limit break, high level spell, or summon animation in even the smallest fights… it was so fun and I wouldn’t mind reliving that with the remake! But I need some thoroughly limited online coop!

Both the crafting mechanic & the Chadley hunts are very Crisis Core like features. Obviously, Zack's story is the key reason to remaster Crisis Core. Still, it's kinda cool to see that gameplay elements from the compilation are being brought into the trilogy, as well as characters & post OG story arcs. It's a true love letter to the whole of FFVII which I'm seriously loving
