Laser weapons don't have great ranges at best it could reach 10km-15km with alot of consumed power, that is why it is not operational in the US and China armies until now, laser weapons seems not good enough because of the range and huge power consumption which is translated to huge power sources and thus huge system, you see the system power source only could be as huge as Arrow 3 launcher with only few kms range compared to hundreds of kms for the missile interceptor

This may be a "classified" subject, but instead of trying to impact an oncoming missile, it seems to me that a missile capable of detonating an EMP pulse over a targeted, yet wide range rendering all inbound missiles scrap metal would be the most effective. Ballistic missile warheads are immune against emp. You just have to have a full metal cover. So your idea would not stop any warhead but grill all satellites 'close by'. Because they have antennas and solar panels, so basically direct links to the inner electronics on the outside.
