David Sling is a far cheaper missile intended for a completely different purpose of intercepting short to medium range ballistic missiles. The Arrow 3 is designed to be able to intercept up to ICBM grade exoatmospheric targets. Meaning it can speed up to Mach 20+

Let's not forget that the Arrow is an Israeli development over almost 20 yers, and that Boing investment is US way to get the Israeli technology and more imprtant- to block Israel from selling its technology to other countries. So saying this is a product of Boing it's kind of funny. No that I have any problen with that that US can use this technology to protect it's own nation, though US will never admit it uses an Israeli technology that is overcome smillar American technologies that cost 10 times more.

But how does the Arrows kill vehicle makes quick last moment corrections to hit the target ? What it does if it overcorrects, does it have to rotate the whole body to apply correction in the opposite direction ?? The side thrusters in other designs are designed for just this - precise and very fast side corrections in every direction without the need to rotate the whole body of the vehicle (rotation of body takes lots of time and complicates the work of the seeker).

Good explanation. But in the event of a ballistic missile attack, I am thinking that they will launch more than one arrow per target, to increase the chances of a direct hit.. Is this correct?

Throw bomblets at this, and this will not stop the inevitable. Balloons can be shaped to look like re-entry vehicles, with heaters to heat them to create the appearance they are a warhead. Spin them so their motion matches that is the real warheads. Then they can be fused so an impact detonates it right above the targeted nation, blasting it with EMP. RADAR can't see inside them, so the defender will be shooting at all of them. An attacker will just send overwhelming numbers of warheads.

@@ChucksSEADnDEAD even if that is correct and i doubt that .. you do understand that the purpose of an icbm is to be ready to be shot at any time .. in order for you to place that baloon you will need to prepare it at the entry point ... which defeats the whole purpse .. since not only it will take hours/days you wil need to prepare it on foreign land/sea territory and fly it up in the air .. in short .. its a stupid idea and mylar ballon filled with helium can reach only 32 km at best .. icbm go 200 times that height so no .. it wont be a good decoy .. you would have a better chance taking 2 Hot air balloon with a net trying to catch the interceptor ...

@@TheBarbahaba Have you considered looking up stuff when you're not sure before typing a reply? Maybe if the idea you're "debunking" is so silly, nobody is actually proposing that idea. Decoys are penetration aids carried inside the ICBM. They're there. They're ready to fire. You don't place the balloon. The ICBM carries decoy warheads to increase the chance of hitting the target. The reason Mylar balloons have a height limit is because they need to be filled at ground level with enough volume to lower the average density below air. When they climb, they expand due to the lower pressure. If the balloon is inflated in space... it won't inflate more! Just look it up. ICBM decoys. There's round ones and cone shaped ones that look like warheads in optical tracking.

@@ChucksSEADnDEAD interesting .. never knew it was possible ... especially in the speed in which the icbm is going down .. still i would imagine the speed reentry would make it more obvious what is the real target .. i understand the concept but i trust the israelis to have figured out a system that will be able to seperate decoys from the real target .. and from what i have read about the trial on 2018 it did that precisely however still very interesting knowing new ways of counter measures for anti missiles defense ... fascinating
