I loved Imagic games on Intellivision. They were the most creative. Swords and serpents drove me nuts because i never knew how to finish it.

Thanks for posting this clip; as a child of the 70's and 80's, I grew up on the old Atari 2600 and Colecovision video game systems and eat this kind of nostalgia up!

As I watch this video, I am sitting in my dark garage, at night, watching Atari 2600 "Atlantis", in attract mode, on my Sony Trinitron. If someone told me in 1982, that I would still be playing Atari in 2022, I'd think they were nuts!

I like how a lot of the things mentioned are as relevant now as they were in 1983. Twenty-seven years and we're still applying a lot of the same methods. (Though with FAR less assembly. ;) )

I came across a documentery that a TV show did about Imagic that was also from the 80's. It was cut into 4 parts and was all about the original creation of Atlantis and everything in between to when they debut it at the CES. I havent been able to find those vids on here since! Has anyone else seen them???

I actually realized that Imagic is now owned by Activision.

Back in the day both companies were forward thinking and filled with highly imaginative and skilled game programmers. The Activision of today is absolutely nothing like that now. It's just like any other big company, doing big company things in big company ways. Sad to say that if it were Imagic that flourished and Activision that failed, things would probably have turned out the same way, except the names would have been swapped.

Does anyone know the specific model of computers they were using to program?

Those look like terminals. If so they were connected to a mainframe. Probably putting all their projects on a centralized server like that kept everyone in sync with what everyone else was doing. I imagine they wrote their own 6502 cross assembler for it.

I have a few questions: what is Pat's last name, 'cos I didn't get it, and how did he design Atlantis when Wikipedia says Dennis Koble did? And what dragon is he making? A Prototype to Dragonfire?
