AJ has a point, but only one.... it IS important to teach all kids how to survive in this world but you have to teach them MORE than that as well. Carl was taught to survive but he was taught how to be a human as well. Because of Carol's loss of Sophia she is loosing part of her humanity in place of surviving. This is what Rick seen in her and why he kicked her out. Carol was teaching this kids how to kill and survive but not the other things that makes them a well rounded person who is more than just a killer. Nothing Carol taught Lizzy made her into what she was though, she was crazy before the world fell, this was discussed some when their father died.

Being well rounded wouldn't have helped Lizzy. Everyone in the group was teaching these kids how to be human. Carol has not lost her humanity, she's the most humane person on the show. She feels very deeply for her people and will do anything to keep them safe.

You don't have sessions with a child psychologist while you're running for your life. Lizzie learned that "look at the flowers ... count 1 - 2 - 3" stuff prior to the apocalypse. She had been under psychiatric care as a very young child.

This is one of the most powerful episodes in the entire series. It generated a lot of Emmy buzz in the media at the time, especially for Melissa McBride (Carol). Most of the media considered her a frontrunner for an Emmy nomination that year. Unfortunately, the Emmys continued their long tradition of ignoring the fantastic actors on TWD. But she was nominated for a Critics Choice Television Award and she won the Saturn Award. Lizzie was suffering from mental illness even before the ZA. There were hints given in earlier episodes that she'd been undergoing therapy/treatment before the world ended. Tragically, that was no longer an option in the ZA world, so there was no way to help her. Tyreese is a good man, but I'm not sure he would have forgiven Carol if she had confessed before they lost the girls. Because he took part in making the decision to kill Lizzie, he was able to understand what she did with Karen and David in a way he wouldn't have understood before this. He told her he knows she feels it and that it will always be with her. He knows that because now Lizzie's death will always be with him, and it's something that he'll always feel.

''Just look at the flowers'' was one of the most powerful scenes in the entire series for me, the acting is perfect, you feel Carol's emotions for doing that to a child, especially she who has already lost 2 children, having to kill a third one herself... Carol is definitely one of the strongest characters in the series

the point of lizzie's character is to show how kids with natural sever mental issues would handle the trauma of this world. lizzie is obviously what people call a "sociopath" so inside her head her morals have been screwed and she might have some form of shizophrenia as she said she could "hear them"
@maddielkaye
@maddielkaye Жыл бұрын
She would be a psychopath not a sociopath. Sociopaths cannot feel emotion. Lizzie felt tons of emotions. And she wouldn’t have been schizophrenic. A lot of stigma tells us that because certain symptoms are almost always related to a certain illness, that that means it’s exclusive to that illness alone but that’s not true. For instance, some sociopaths do feel emotion, in very specific conditions and situations. Some schizophrenics talk to people. Not all. And a psychopath can experience voices and hallucinations. It’s that long-debated “nature vs. nurture” argument coupled with technical terms that restrict the way we see things!
@maddielkaye

Oh and she had no morals! This is why she was in therapy before. She was an undiagnosed psychopath. She just never developed those normal morals!

I think Tyreese decided not to hurt Carol because he saw what taking another life did to her Carol is not heartless or emotionless Killing Lizzie was a tough decision to make and even tougher to execute Killing Karen and David was probably the same She didn’t make those decisions lightly and her actions (that had good intentions but still bad) weigh heavily on her and cause her so much anguish that she was prepared to die by Tyreese’s hand Tyreese saw that she is human and despite misguided actions has a good heart and a conscious.

An interesting tidbit...the jigsaw puzzle pieces that were spread out on the table throughout most of the episode had a hidden purpose. It stayed there as a prop all through filming until it was time to shoot the scene where Carol confessed to Tyreese. Just before the scene, the director showed them a picture of what the puzzle would look like assembled. It was a picture of Carol's late daughter Sophia in the rainbow t-shirt she was wearing when she went missing. Needless to say, that helped make the scene even more emotional for the actors.

It’s heavy moments like this that makes this show so compelling I think this was the more humane resolution She could not be trusted around Judith or anyone after this It was either putting her down or abandoning her The latter would just have had her playing with Walkers until she was inevitably painfully ripped apart Just like she was about to let that one she was playing with in the yard almost get her when Carol was running over She wouldn’t have made it on her own This was more painless resolution for her really Great episode.

The Blu Ray DVD version had an alternate angle of the Look at the Flowers scene from Tyreese’s POV from the window so we actually see Carol shoot her and see her body fall and react It’s a much more jarring scene IMO makes it seem more impactful but Carol’s face does say SO much when it cuts to her afterwards.

Tbf to AJ. Carol is definitely colder and more hardened, than the rest of the group 👀 I mean it’s ironic but how many people in our group could’ve killed a kid, even if the kid was “messed up”. Thus, the point AJ makes about balance is fair but I suppose we’re at a point where Carols lack of “balance” may come in handy….

Look at it this way... I was confused at first too but I felt really bad because Lizzie was just a child. We learn in a lot of religions that there's a resurrection of the body after we die. Lizzie and Mika probably grew up going to church or something. And although the resurrection is true, their world got super messed up and confusing. Not even the adults know what happened and why things are the way that they are. She's just trying to make sense of everything. Plus, the trauma of it all. "I can hear them... They want me to change too." Sounds like the devil whispering lies in her ear. "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a] the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12

Also just because you love a character doesn't mean they're immune from criticism. Trust me even I who is the leader of the Rick fan club critize him for things he did in the second half of season 5. lizzie views walkers as a different type of living thing, she believes not only that when ppl turn they’re still alive but that it’s actually a better state of living than as a human, it’s why she feels remorse for shooting somebody in the head, she doesn’t kill just to do it, she does thinking they will still live on just as walkers, but yes she’s mentally ill and sadly it’s just something that wouldn’t have been able to work out in this type of world anymore so carol did do the right thing at the end

Lizzie was fucked in the head. Like mental illness. Not gonna diagnose her with anything specific cause I'm not an expert but she definitely wasn't gonna be able to function in a world like that. She had no problem killing people because she believed they came back as living. I have no doubt she would one day decide to try and kill the entire group in their sleep, to "show" them. Hell, she probably would have started trying to get revenge for all the walkers they killed. Also, a little detail that is mostly unimportant until this episode. While their dad is dying, he tells Mika to take care of Lizzie instead of the other way around. So Lizzie has most likely been this way well before the outbreak, and their father knew she was unlikely to function in a world like that. She was likely seeing someone regularly and was probably on meds too. There would be no way to healthily maintain her mental state while she's not on meds, while surviving in such a fucked up world, where one bad day could ruin any progress she's made towards functioning even somewhat normally.

Lizzy was just psychotic, probably had developed mad schizophrenia. It's possible she was a psychologically troubled child even before the apocalypse already and her mental health just went down hill even more after the apocalypse with dead people walking around. Under normal circumstances, in a normal world this would've been treatable by medication and therapy but in this world there is just no way. AJ was right in terms of Carol not noticing things about Lizzy and her odd behaviour, she should've seen the signs earlier, Carol even said it herself but it is so easy to miss when there's so much other shit going on around you and when your first priority literally just is survival so I don't really think anyone can be blamed for what's happened. When Carol confessed to Tyreese in the end after she just killed Lizzy, she was ready to die. Only reason she told him was because she was counting on him killing her. Very poweful scene and episode in general, easily one of my top favorites from the whole show. And in terms of the whole show in my opinion TWD just hols a certain consistent high quality level overall through all 11 seasons which is remarkable for a show that's been running that long. A lot of people might disagree, especially those who watched the show live weekly over years but especially when you're able to binge watch as many episodes as you want, which definitely benefits some arcs that you can now watch in one sitting which otherwise would've taken you roughly 4 weeks, the story definitely always stays intriguing. I'd genuinly say that overall the Walking Dead doesn't have one bad season because every season has at least a handful of episodes that are just fuckin insane and storylines that are wild with an always changing dynamic and vibe in a sense.

She has mental issues it’s not that hard to understand if you think back to all her scenes throughout season 4. They have to get her to look at the flowers to calm her down, she sees walkers as still being human, she has even killed animals for no good reason. These are all signs that Lizzie clearly has anxiety attacks and probably something along the lines of schizophrenia. Having a zombie apocalypse happen when you already find it difficult to understand the world has obviously cause her mental health to deteriorate even more. With each tragedy her mind is just drifting further away from reality with really no one besides her younger sister understanding and trying to keep it all in check💯

Also Aj was not backtracking, all he was saying is that Tyreese should put two and two together about Carol being the killer of Karen & David. He wasn’t talking about Lizzie, or Carol killing Lizzie, or Tyreese & Carol noticing she was a psychopath. It seems to me that he will state his opinion and you guys take it YOUR way and run with it, then when he tries explaining the way HE meant it, he gets genuinely confused because you two gaslight HIM. It’s not really my business but y’all were fishing for an argument. Yes, in the first two seasons Aj had a tendency to get mad when people disagreed but he hasn’t been doing that lately. You two have, though. On top of not allowing him to explain. This is what I meant by an earlier comment. This show will mess with your perception of logic and emotion, muddy the waters. But you can’t just pick fights with Aj because you’re emotionally distressed by the episode and you thought he said something you disagree with. I wouldn’t usually say anything because like I said it’s not my business, but the things being said were straight up rude. I’m coming from a place of love, not criticism! I love your reactions! I just don’t appreciate seeing anyone being treated the way you guys treat him lately. Hello 👋 Another awesome video, 👍👍 The smoke and burnt Walkers were from Daryl and Beth’s fire, they were not to far behind them, my take on it is, Carol and Ty took a right at the tracks and found ‘The Grove’ as Daryl and Beth got to the tracks, unfortunately they decided to go straight across the tracks instead of turning, 👍😀 This was a hard one to watch, poor Mika, RIP Mika (wonderfully played by Kyla Kennedy) and also (not sure she will rip😂) Lizzie (wonderfully played by Brighton Sharbino), 😪 Sad that Carol had to be the one to deal with Lizzy, but between the two, even though it nearly destroyed her, she is the stronger one emotionally, I think it would have destroyed Ty, but seeing how hard it was for her to make the choice she did, made it easier for Ty to forgive her about Karen, 🙂 Pine sap is considered a wonder sap, and can be used as a self-aid to treat wounds, stop bleeding and treat rashes. Have a safe and wonderful rest of your week, 👋😀👋

SPOILERS for Season 9 and beyond. Seriously. Don't read this you guys. 4:42 Yoooo aint no way Prophet actually predicted the future. We all know Alpha is basically Lizzie as an adult. Its like they're the same person.

Some child characters are some of the reasons why I dislike some tv shows or movies. Like sorry we live in a world that is not the same as before. If you cant change or adapt you aint gonna live long sorry, its how life is when its the zombie Apocalypse and things have gone to sheit. Im sorry, but in a real scenario and such if it wouldve costed any one elses life, I wouldve put Lizzie out of her misery. Shes a psycho.

Nah, AJ is right. Teaching kids how to survive is one thing but the way Carol went about it sneakily contributed to this happening. You must be extra careful when teaching kids because they can quickly become child soldiers. I get that Carol is still dealing with the death of her child but she's projecting all her fears onto these children. Also, the way she speaks to them is reckless. Telling children, "You must kill humans or you will die" is too much. It makes sense to fully developed brains because we can pick and choose when it's necessary but children can't figure that out and will do it unprovoked. It's all about giving them the tools to survive and then morally teaching them right from wrong. Rick teaching Carl is a good example of that. When Carl killed that boy who was turning his gun over, Rick took Carl's gun away for a while because he needed that. It taught him right from wrong. I will always stand by my thought process that it was wrong to train these kids without speaking to their parents first. Her not speaking to Lizzie's father beforehand was a mistake because he knew her mental state. Lizzie is mentally ill and Carol unknowingly unlocked her thirst to kill. She killed Tara's girlfriend and killed Mika, and this was her second attempt at killing Judith.

Love love love this episode. It's filled with what IFS and sadness. Hated Lizzie from the beginning it's her fault 💯 % the disease came to the prison. She was a serial killer nut job in the making. Mika was a beautiful soul who was murdered. I love Carol .. have always loved Carol she is my top 3 of TWD characters. Love ❤️ THE Walking d e ad but their can only be one GAME OF THRONES. ❤❤ Dialogue scenery and humour.

Yes, they really need to stop with the Game of Thrones comparisons. They obviously haven't truly broken it down season by season or episode by episode to know wtf they are talking about.

AJ is my top Nomad. Put some respect man. I just love it when he says some odd bs that i also agree on, and then it gets paid off episodes later, and everyone else has to take the L . I just fucking love it, its the best thing in youtube.

Been super impressed with some of the lines Aj has been dropping. “Yeah, teaching them to kill Walkers, not people” made me smile. He gets it. And yes Carol is poisoning these children. It’s sad.

Aj is right. Carol is just like Shane. She makes the “tough decisions” but really she just chooses the easy way out and justifies it. Just like Shane. She also does not deal with her emotions. Like Shane, she snaps in and out of feeling. If you guys pay attention you will likely understand better in later seasons! Aj is literally seeing things as they are, and is “ahead of his time”.

Some y’all are entitled asf. How are you going to come to their channel and tell Brodie to shut up because you don’t like his opinions???? As well ass telling them how to run their channel by suggesting him not Being in it or voice his opinions just because you feel a way. If he bothers you that much just stop watching them. Shit like this pisses me off because y’all don’t know the damage y’all can cause to someone’s head by basically telling them that their business is better off without one of them.

I think you are very sexist friend. In the face of similar acts, if Shane does it, he is your idol and if Carol does it because she is a woman, you judge her and reproach her. If Shane would do what Carol did, you would say that it is fine.. Absolute sexism

I don’t think it’s sexism it’s just two very different circumstances an time periods as well as to very different characters as shane was written as a villain and carol is written as a “good guy” so them doing similar acts are not going to be judge the same way because shane is loved because of how good of a villain he plays so ppl don’t hold him to the same standards as someone like carol who ppl view as the naturing caring person in the group so when she does something a shane type of character would do it’s more disappointment and confusion as to why. Where as Shane you expect and want that because his sole purpose is to mess stuff up and do terrible stuff to make you hate him but love him for playing his role so good. Same as to why they love characters like michonne(badass/very loyal), Rick(the leader), Hershel(father/voice of reason), daryl(protector/layered), Glenn(survivor/loyal), the governor(stone cold/brutal)beacuse they do what you expect of them for how they’re written where as carol in going into a whole new type of character a more ruthless character a really big turn which can cause annoyance, confusion, disappointment, or still getting to know that character. I’m sure they’re gonna grow to live carol for this new character and she’ll quickly become a favorite.
