I would love to grown indoors into soil direct however when we built the greenhouse we are on such compacted clay, the base had to be fully paved so it will always be pots. However I am trialing autopots this year, with a watering system for 6 of my tomatoes and there should be some quad grows on their way soon hopefully @grownlocal for a few of my spares which need to go into bigger pots to compare. I also have deep planters with a reservoir at the bottom which are have done me well in the past, but yes watering with pots is a pain for sure.

I combine Comfrey, Nettles & Seaweed, it's handy living by the coast. The fertile mixture stinks worse than liquid manure. However, the benefits outlay the stench, just keep it away from the house.😂

My comfrey tea absolutely stinks been bottling up today and whole allotments stinks dam good stuff tho and free if you have comfrey plants .

I am growing cucumbers for the first time this year (Lili F1) as the Bitter Gourd i grow for my step mother in law, failed to germinate this year. Am i the only one who thinks it is strange to have to remove the male flowers from the plants like it says to do? It just feels like it is going against the principles of fertilisation. Re the sprouts, it is ok to grow them that close as it's my second year growing them and had them 2ft apart, with an allium flower in between them? The front of the bed is dressed with marigolds and lobelias. My rant about councils is that you are still having to book a 30 min slot to go to the tip and you can't book it the same day and the last appointment is 3.30pm. So say if you have a big weekend project and can only fit so much in your car, how can you know how many trips it will take. It used to be a thing of if you had a spare hour, you could nip some things down in the week day evening or go several times a day. My hubby doesn't know how to drive and i remember going there as he was looking after our baby as there wasn't space in our fiesta with the seats down and no one was there to help with the heavy stuff. The only person that did help was an older woman who worked there. We have about 3 years worth of stuff to take there now. So glad it wasn't like that when we moved in and renovated the house and garden! We have a second fence at the back, in front of the trees lining the back of the garden and it was full fence high of garden waste in plastic bags, medicine bottles, moped bike parts and all sorts. We ordered a skip that time but bits and bobs break or the kid gets older, etc and it builds up. Best wishes from London.

Hi from Ontario 🇨🇦 could you do something on how you get your compost going. Goodness knows what I’m doing wrong but I can’t seem to get mine looking like you see on UTube! I got quite a bit of pine shavings, straw and chicken poo mixed in with green stuff

Hi tony we have never grown tomatoes in pots or anything in pots really everything goes in the ground. Always has. Years ago we grew them in growbags a couple of times but that’s it always in the ground

I’m so pleased to see you open your bags of compost nice and neatly at the top.😀 I’m guessing you reuse the bags like what I do? They come in handy as refuse bags. Some YT gardeners slice the bags open down the front and it really bugs me.😀🐝🐝🌹🌹

Too bad you did not have room for the cabinate with all those drawers in your allotement garden shed. A lot of folks pop things like that on the roadside with a"free sign." You would be surprise what goes. Been using comfey tea for years. It's a great fertilizer. I've used too much on my four foot high bush beans!

🥬🥬🥬🥬How do you make vegetable growing seem so straight forward, Tony? I have always thought that crops need to follow a rotation program. Do you keep in mind what you have grown in each bed, before planting the next thing? I will have to keep notes in future to follow your planting. Thanks again. Great to have mates like Mark. 🌿🌿🌿🌿

We don’t rotate, I just plant where there’s space and we do quite well if that helps

No dig gardening can mean less emphasis on rotation as when a crop comes out you just dress the bed which a fresh inch or so of compost or well rotted manure or mulch and plant straight in again.

I know someone that grows tomatoes in pots without cutting the bottom and every year they look healthy until they start fruiting.. They get bottom end rot every time.
