I have the sigma pro and it always flags gold plated tungsten core coins and bars.

Nice piece of equipment but at half the price the base model will suffice for the vast majority of people buying 'normal' volumes
@BackyardBullionАй бұрын
100% agree. This model is best suited for my business needs as well as stacking needs. Other more affordable models are good options too!

Hi great video but I'm a little worried : ( Ive only recently started stacking "last 6 months" and I have been buying bullion, half and full Sovereigns, but only from recognised online dealers like Atkinsons, Chards, BullionByPost. I don't have a Sigma or access to one but I have a "coin pinger" and accurate scales. But really i'm relying on the dealers to NOT sell me a fake. How safe are the online dealers ? Do they test every coin ? Thanks
@MarionDaweАй бұрын
Those main dealers have an xrf machine and they test everything they buy on it that is second hand as they do not want to buy fakes either...their new stock comes straight from the mint....if you buy from chards, attkinsons or hgm i know for sure they have xrf which costa over £10000 so is much better than sigma..... so yes they test every coin on xrf

@@MarionDawe Many Thanks, yes, they have their reputation to uphold. But I will keep away from buying gold on e-bay and social media. Thanks again.

Yes, all 3 dealers you mentioned are established and reputable. This is more for buying from eBay, private sellers, obscure dealers, etc.

I was very worried about the stuff I'd bout from dealers even pawn shops. There's nothing wrong with buying on ebay but you need to do your due diligence. Check the sellers feedback. Especially about that item you're buying If you buy do other tests.Ive been stacking less than a year and purchased majority from dealers but have bought lot of my silver from Ebay sellers. To be fair I just bought a sigma investor as a birthday/Christmas pressie to myself. Tested everything inc ebay stuff and they came through ok. Couple inconclusives. I personally stay clear of buying gold bars/coins from ebay. But now with the machine I may dip my toe. 😅Like byb said these machines have their limitations so important to do other tests if in doubt.

Those fake dragon coins flooded UK market via many online selling platforms.

When you said it cost a bit more than an once of gold immediate thought was ohh that ain't to bad!! Five sovs should cover it or maybe four quarter once britannias.!!!!!😂

I wonder how well these machines would hold up in the tropics, I have had many electronics fail after a few years from internal corrosion from the humidity. Expensive kit to replace.

isn't one of those specific gravity testers for like $700 way more reliable that can't fake anything and like 1/3rd the price? the Sigmas are nice for sure but it seems like ye ol specific gravity tester is better overall. No? Like the DH-600K... ?

What's your way of tracking purchase and sale price on your metals?

I bought the full kit, bridge and all wands, cost me a bloody fortune. I’ve been trying to get into the industry but it’s difficult to know who to trust.
@danielbell7855Ай бұрын
Trust no one. But that's the reason you buy one of these machines anyway. I just started stacking 3 weeks ago and I'm thinking about buying the base model just for piece of mind.

What are you views about Hattons Of London I’ve brought a couple of 1/8th sovereign coins directly from the site have you ever brought from Hatton’s yourself?
@BackyardBullionАй бұрын
Oh god. You have been legally scammed. Those coins are GARBAGE. They are not worth the money you paid for them. You will NEVER recoup your money. If you are within the returns window RETURN IMMEDIATLEY. Total rip off merchants.
@jamesfearn4568Ай бұрын
Thank god I only brought 2x 1g sovereign coins from them. I’ll have a look if I can return them asap! Is the gold not real like total scam or just overpriced?
@jamesfearn4568Ай бұрын
Fancy selling 2x 1g sovereign coins haha 😂 that was a joke by the way. Thank god you let me know I’ll stick to proper bullion yards like i usually do mate .
@BackyardBullionАй бұрын
You won't even get spot price for them. Nobody wants them. They are at best worth about £65 each, if you are lucky.
@jamesfearn4568Ай бұрын
Cheers for the info mate, thank god I only brought 2x 1g coins and only paid £69.99 for each one you live and you learn I’m new ish to stacking only just over a year . I have been buying 1/10th Britannia’s so far but was sucked into the cool little 1g gold coin hype . My common sense said don’t do it but I dabbled and got 2x 1g coins. Thank god they are not fake gold at least I only lost minimum money so lesson learnt . Basically I’m just going to stick to bread and butter coins like CGT free Britannia and Sovereign coins from now on 👌🏼

Do you ping test gold coins to make sure they're not tungsten? Also... Let's say you order some metal and you have one of tjese machines and the metal fails the test.... Surely you still will struggle to claim your money back. As the seller could easily say as far as he knows it's correct and you could be pulling a fast one on him. I suppose you could video the entire process of receiving, opening and testing. Have you ever bought fake, then sent back for refund after a failed test?
@BackyardBullionАй бұрын
Whenever I get coins in I video the opening and testing as I open them. That's the best I can do. I have caught a few fakes this last year.
