As someone who works in a retro video game store, I really don't recommend alcohol and magic erasers for every clean. We use a degreaser called Mean Green to clean all our consoles and controllers. Magic eraser just scratches things to hell, since it's basically sandpaper, and alcohol has a chance of taking of logos and other small details from consoles. We use alcohol on stubborn residue or stains, but stray away from magic erasers unless absolutely necessary.

Edit - I made the deal for $900 on everything and got it all. there was more hidden gems I didnt see in the pictures. I found earthbound loose and gameboy play it loud, right now Im in the process of cleaning everything and testing it. Megaman x3, chrono trigger and earthbound do work as those were the first things I tested. everything is valued up to $6500 on the low but, If I wait I could get up to $8.5k for everything I got. I found a listing for $750. this lady is clearing out all retro games and I looked up the value of what I seen in the pictures its over $8k+ of snes, n64, nes, sega genesis, sega 32x, sega cd, game gear, gameboy, ps1 and ps2. Im meeting her this tuesday and Im buying it all off her.

Dragon warrior definitely the worst condition one. I think someone actually brought it to Silent Hill and back for it to be in that condition. It's such a good game too and it hurts to see it in that condition. Love the series, i actually am a retro game business owner who started my business and collection from nothing then i traded up and sell to where i am now. Own my own house, car, and taking care of my wife and kid with the business. So i really love this series as it is so close to home and my hustle

Dragon Quest VII.... Holy man.... As someone with OCD (the video didn't trigger anything), if I got that container and I had to clean through all of that, it would be the most emotionally exhausting experience. I'd leap across the walls at the sight of Persona 1&2 CIB and all the other jaw-dropping grails; but the grim, crunchy & wavy manuals, "black mold", everything... Would spin me through a spiral. Kody, it was such a pleasure joining you on your $10k journey ONCE AGAIN! I gotta say, you're quite the trooper and your effort doesn't go unseen. Some of the bits and screenshots you show, I can tell it takes atleast 3-5 minutes to implement, on text it seems like nothing but the energy and editing process 100% add up. I also do video editing, though less frequently because of personal/career strives. KODY, I'm proud of you! You now begin a new journey. Another collection, a new series, what have you. For that, I'm excited in your light. Also, it's great to see another person who's also so passionate about video games, regularly, on my KZbin feed

The method I use for fixing water damaged sticky disgusting manuals is using a clothes steamer and then letting them sit under some books for a while. If you don't own a steamer you could also use an iron but it take much longer.

steam cleaner or steam iron, hold manuals over it, pages will start to loosen and separate with some careful opening as they get steamed. Can try ironing over a towell to put pressure on them for flattening them but hard to get out all the waviness

Fantastic Quack has a good video called Restoring Water Damaged Game Art. I've used it a few times and I'll always test it on a few of the $10-$20 titles to get it right and then I'll try the absolute worst of the best stuff first just to build up my confidence lol. It takes some time so I recommend pulling all the ones over $100 and doing those and just lot up the rest and sell to someone that has a professional press or setup for repairing stuff like that because someone can definitely do SOME work on them. They'll never be more than like 75% at BEST lol Also Mortal Kombat has got to be the worst man, thing has life growing in it lol

Woooooo new (week I'm a week late, but NEW TO ME!!!!) Kody with a K video, Let's GOOOOOOooooo. That opening clip has me stoked for this one, although I'm sure it means the completion of the 10K video game collection Pt. 2. Just from the pics and snippet I seen when you opened the chest, I'm on the edge of my seat to see the full break down of it. Sucks on the condition of stuff, but least some good bangers are salvageable for sure. Kagero Deception 2 is a game I hope to come across in the wild, I remember playing the demo Soooooooooo Much as a kid, and never played the full version (least not that I recall). This collection was a very impressive split of breathtaking both positively and negatively. That being said for the purchase price of the PS5, I think you still did very well with this one, even if most would have to be deemed as Disc only. This has been such an epic journey to 10k again, bravo on all the bangers and Thank You for always bring the fun and entertainment through each and every video (not just this series) to us. This reminds me of a time that at the Goodwill Bins for a week they were bringing out high end CDs and they had all been in a fire. So they were either covered in soot or had water damage from being hosed down from the fire. I salvaged quite a few things but it was absolutely heartbreaking.
