They couldn’t bring themselves to call it a food bank and kept using other terms. How sad is it that people who are genuinely struggling are ashamed to tell it like it is? Sorry to hear about Tweedy. Off to South Shields tomorrow to Rebel Town Festival on Saturday. Its organised by another Hatfield Main legend, Dave Douglass. He's speaking and so is Arthur. I agree with you re climate change. You can't DENY climate change but its been happening since the earth was formed. That doesn't mean we can't do our bit to help environment. We've installed solar panels for hot water and electric but have our coal/wood fired stove as well. We won't be going for heat pumps as they are noisy. Imagine a whole street or even housing estate with every heat pump going. You wouldn't be able to hear the birds singing or anything over them. We had a chance to make coal more environmentally friendly with Fluidised Bed Combustion like at Grimethorpe experimental power station but tories threw that away and Labour won't invest. They are 99% efficient compared to normal power station and only emit 1% of normal emissions. I think China has them now. No need for massive cargo ships coming from US and Canada with so called sustainable wood chippings. There was an article in Morning Star a while back which showed that although the companies involved may plant woodlands for it, loads of virgin forests were also beibg destroyed along with all the wildlife in them.

So sad to hear about your friend, condolences to you all ❤😢 Unfortunately the JSO protesters might get people talking, but about the wrong part of the subject. I don't think trying to smash their way into one of the few copies left in the world of the Magna Carta, and throwing baked beans at works of art endears them to the public. Sensible, sentient beings do talk about climate change, they can see and experience what has been happening, but they are fighting very strong corporations who give very handsome donations mainly to the Tory party. It's that part that they should be highlighting, not hacking off people who do not wish to see works of art or other national treasures defaced and potentially damaged beyond repair. As for jailing them, well that's all nonsense. Community Service would be better ....say cleaning up the tagging and other detritus left by people might be a way forward. As for climate change, yes it's happening, and been happening for millenia, and I know I have been talking about it since I was at school in the early 70s. However I have also noticed how Mother Nature, if given it's chance has a way of balancing things out. Like this recent crap weather and very low temperatures, it's almost as if it has been sent via the wiggles in the jet stream, to cool down areas of the planet far beyond our shores. As for a lack of sea defences, yet again a crap idea from the Environment Agency and National Trust, along with abandoning river dredging along too many waterways to clear silt build up, hence more flooding! Our ancestors did these things to maintain a liveable balance between the land, natural world and ourselves. Not maintaining those measures has not been a success in many ways. 😢

You pair of nutters, it must be a good start to the day having a laugh in the park. On a serious note, people just except things around them. I remember as a lad, when it got hot we would and go for a dip in the local river or in the sea. Kids can't do that anymore. I remember the huge effort to clean up the Thames, the excitement when fish where seen in parts of it that hadn't seen fish in years. The water became clear due to the banning of effluent etc. Everyone in London became so proud of their river once again. And then they sold the water companies off. Now we are back to having a brown Thames along with every other river in the country. Never mind lads, two more weeks of the corrupt Public School Boys. This could well be their lad hooray. No more Murdoch interfering in UK politics after this one.

Off topic i know, but something that must be close to the heart of the mining community. Bilsthorpe Village Hall used to house the Nottinghamshire mining heritage collection. Private Eye has an article about the Heritage Centre which has been told to find a new home for the collection. Time is short and the situation is not looking good. The whole of the site looks as if it has to be sold for development to fund a new community hall. Space in the locality does not appear to be available.👍
