@ShovelShovel but it can also mean that once said person sees an ad like this and skips it after the required time laps. Doesn't mean they won't see it in their feed (like myself). So it could also mean that people have viewed it but refuse to comment cause they chosen to not actually believe the facts. The problem is people (not all) don't want to hear the truth in fear of being hurt. So they shy away and go to were something or someone makes sense and feels comfortable to their life (e.i. an escape to a world outside the real world - The Sims/World of Warcraft). It is a good review of the immigration numbers...thank you. It would be most informative to also review and compare the fate of those unauthorized immigrants of different categories once they are in the US with that of native born citizens and authorized immigrants. Workforce participation patterns, criminal conduct (not including the violation of unauthorized immigration itself), tax payments, receipt of government services such as healthcare, financial, housing, education. Computation of net financial benefit Vs. burden of immigrants by category. Finally, a review of economic impact, growth Vs. decline of immigration from the various categories. The role of immigrants' roles in founding S&P 500 companies is apparent, but what of the rest of the economy?

Not mentioned isn’t the video, U.S. immigration law also requires that asylum seekers (aka illegal immigrants) remain in custody until their court hearing. It does provide an exception called “parole” for extraordinary circumstances to be applied on a case-by-case basis, not across the board as happens now. Congress was actually explicit in drafting these rules that parole should not be used to bypass immigration law, which is exactly what’s happening.
@bradenhazle43782 ай бұрын
If they're seeking asylum...it's not illegal lol. That means they actually approached an official at the border to request it. That's not illegal.
@DoRC2 ай бұрын
While this is technically true it doesn't tell the whole story. Yes the concept of parole has been stretched but it was done due to lack of alternatives. You can't keep people in custody if you lack the funding and manpower to do so. It is also Congress that provides that funding and manpower and unfortunately they did not make any changes that allowed for housing and maintaining all of the asylum seekers that have come in. Without those resources the only legal option was to parole people.
@wrobinnes2 ай бұрын
@@DoRC It's a common refrain you hear from Democrats: "I know the situation seems ridiculous, but the law ties our hands!" Don't believe them. First, the Biden DHS has been actively trying to REDUCE the number of ICE detention facilities - not exactly what you'd expect someone with "a lack of alternatives" to be doing. As district court judge T. Kent Wetherell II wrote in his opinion finding that Biden's border releases violated federal law in Florida v. U.S.: "Thus, like a child who kills his parents and then seeks pity for being an orphan, it is hard to take [the administration’s] claim that they had to release more aliens into the country because of limited detention capacity seriously when they have elected not to use one of the tools provided by Congress in [section 235(b)(2)(C) of the INA] and they have continued to ask for less detention capacity." Second, there is another LEGAL alternative to parole: Remain In Mexico. U.S. immigration law *explicitly* allows for sending "asylum seekers" back across the border to await their hearings. Thus, it was the basis for Trump's Migration Protection Protocols (MPP) which his administration implemented in the Summer of 2019, and (of course) Biden immediately suspended upon taking office.

Here's a fact Steve missed: In getting to 335 million, we have wiped out 85% of wildlife. We lost 2.5 billion birds alone. Mostly due to habitat destruction. If we continue to grow 2 million people a year, we will be approaching 500 million by 2100. How well do we think the remaining 15% of wildlife will survive when the humans number almost a half billion? A country jammed coast to coast with people and no wildlife is not a place where I want to live. If we went back to 1970 population levels, it would take tremendous pressure off of our environment, our land, and our society. Lower housing costs, lower food costs, more open spaces: This whole system of endless growth is ridiculous.

I have seen other places. Some are nice if you already have money, but are tough to work if you were born there to a working class family. Seems many countries in Eastern Europe still have a lot of the hold over mentality from the days of being in the Soviet system. Pay was and remained poor for years before and even for a long time after the Fall of the Soviet Union. That did open the doors for NATO and the EU to come into Eastern Europe and start to turn things around. Most immigrants are very hard-working people, and initially, many are willing to work for less money than most Americans are willing to accept. We can blame those who hire them, but we also have to look at ourselves, those of us who benefit from paying less than we would have to pay a U.S. citizen. Most people want to stay in their home countries, so we have to discuss why people cannot earn a living wage in their home countries. Over the years, the U.S. has given many, many millions of dollars to a lot of countries. Where has all that money gone?

@TheViettan282 ай бұрын
@@chavitacanta008 2k is barely enough to apply for adjusting status. Is there anything wrong with your numbers?
Perhaps if we broke it down by which countries the immigrants are arriving from, it would shed light on our foreign policies.

One interesting statistic is that 1.4 billion Indians are in line for a quota of 2802 available work visas. While 500 million Europeans are in line for 78,000 work visas. That’s 28 times easier to get that green card if you are European.

There was a deal struck in Congress that would have increased the number of judges and enforcement officers but that was used as a political wedge issue by the president elect.

It is all about paying taxes - to me. We have doctors from other lands working as Uber drivers in the USA while ignoramuses lead us. When rich folks resist taxation the rest of us can do as we please. Stay safe.
@chavitacanta0082 ай бұрын
They work Uber because the US does not recognize their accredidation for a Dr certification ! Qualifications vary from other countries ! Some times they have to take classes or get certified here !
@marciamartins1992Ай бұрын
This is a big problem in the US, the state board, you can have a certificate in California, but it's no good in Texas. You'll have to take more tests, and pay more fees.

Intelligent man would have made a much better Presidential candidate than what was put out there. And I like Harris and Biden as people but one age caught up with and the other just not that dude as a campaigner or Nation’s chief. Even Biden excellent Senator and caretaker of the Nation but hardly a dynamic, brilliant leader. This guy is smart and articulate. Would have been a better choice if he could read the woke tea leaves and have concrete solutions for out of control housing and food costs.

We need temporary workers visas that are good for 3 years and renewable. DACA kids should become naturalized citizens. These people are already part of the system as farm and construction workers. We should have a skilled labor strategy as well. More workers and consumers at the same time.

Steve Ballmer is the former CEO of Microsoft and a major funder of progressive-left groups. 1 From 2016-2021, Ballmer donated over $110 million to Los Angeles organizations alone.
@KateWitt2 ай бұрын
Yes we are all quite aware of who Steve Ballmer is. He is a millionaire (billionaire maybe) capitalist who believes in education and his foundation primarily funds anything to help children. Lifting them out of poverty with better education, funding mental health services etc... I encourage others to find out more about the Ballmer Group. They do good work.

An H1B (or TN or L etc.) doesn't directly lead to citizenship in and of itself. These visas get you into the US and working here legally, but you have limited options wrt taking a different job and, in the case of an H1B, that can only be renewed twice and after that you may be out of luck. To get citizenship, you'd need to go through the green card process which requires labor certification (not always guaranteed to succeed, especially when unemployment is high) and can be subject to country-specific quotas. Or, some people obtain citizenship through other means (marriage to a US citizen, outstanding ability, etc.). I'm guessing that's what was meant in the video...
@benwu21232 ай бұрын
H1b does not have path to citizenship. If you ask any immigration attorney they will tell you the same thing as Ballmer just said here. What H1b does is just buy you time to apply for the green card while working in the US legally.
