Doood! I blew at least 2 defenses last night because my "follow system" was "guessing", and I ended up on the wrong side of the blocker. As I was playing a SL 8 player (APA - Masters), both failed defenses cost me the rack. I'm going to try this at lunch. Subscribed!

Fantastic Tip here. Like He said cue control is the name of the game. So important to keep good control and keep control of the table. Let’s face it things go haywire the minute you start getting out of position as not only is the next shot affected but shots further in the run.

Great tip. I have tried the "bunny ears/peace sign" and never could figure it out. Can't wait to practice it. Keep bringing the Tips!
@dryclimateutah
@dryclimateutah Жыл бұрын
The secret to the bunny ears is to put the intersection point of your peace sign over the ghost ball position, not over the object ball. One finger points the direction the object ball will go, the other finger points the direction the cue ball will go. So you have point the correct finger in the direction where you want the object ball to go. If you are hitting the right side of the object ball, then point your middle finger in the direction of the object ball path, then your index finger points where the cue ball will go. If you are hitting the left side of the ball, point your index finger in the direction of the object ball path and your middle finger will point in the direction of the cue ball path. This is for soft rolling cue ball only... the harder you hit the ball, you have to start shifting your hand along the tangent line to approximate how far the cue ball will travel along that line before the forward spin takes over.

definitely going to help with safeties, not sure on breaking clusters as it depends on where the lines intersect, also speed is very important on this advice. If you have to pot a ball with power, this can't still work as the tangent line is going to be followed first, then the top. i always wondered how to get accurate safeties with top spin and now I have it, thanks! I just need to practice this system. The mirror banking system works but it's so hard to picture a pocket floating in space to get it really accurate every time.

Pretty cool system. It might go without saying, but this won't work for any follow angle that's greater than 30'ish degrees. Take the 2nd example from this video where he billiards into the 9 for the win... imagine if that 9-ball was instead 2 diamonds more to the right on the long rail. If you did this system, you couldn't hit the 2 in any way where the cue ball would naturally follow to the 9, the angle would simply be too wide. You'd have to manipulate the cue ball's path more by using a stun follow shot. Having said that, I think this system works extremely well with quarter-ball hits or less. I'm going to assume that for those in the comments who are saying it doesn't always work, it's likely because your speed was too much and the cue ball stayed on the tangent line for a bit instead of naturally rolling through, which would significantly alter where the cue ball ends up. This will definitely work if you're always hitting the object ball with a natural rolling speed.
@DrawShotTV
@DrawShotTV Жыл бұрын
This system will work for any hit within a ‘half ball’. Beyond half ball, it can’t/won’t work. Obviously beyond a half ball, you cannot aim to the back of the ball but also, the closer you get to half ball and beyond, the cueball is forced along the tangent line. For this system, the cueball and object ball also need space between them for the cueball to roll. If the cueball is sliding, the cueball won’t react along this angle but take the tangent line.

Hi there. I've reviewed Dr. Dave's assessment of this system. According to what I read, there's only two times where this system seems to be close to accurate. The two times is when you are hitting it straight on and the cue ball follows straight ahead; the other is the 1/2 ball hit. When I play around with it myself, I find the ball going wider than I expect it to with near full hits when trying to aim as you've described. BUT, I think I came up with a modification that may correct the method and make it much more accurate. Do your normal lining up to see where your aiming line is passing through the back of the ball. Then mirror your true contact point on the front of the object ball to the other side of the line that passes through the center of the cue ball and the object ball. So you have a line going through the front of the object ball at the mirror contact point and the aim point at the back of the ball. I think this path will show a much closer, if not correct, direction of the cue ball. Someone with knowledge similar to Dr. Dave's would have to determine if the math is approximate or spot on. Note: the line is parallel to the final path of the cue ball. It's not showing where it will hit; but you can translate to the point where it will hit by parallel shifting over to the center of the "ghost ball". (Or further if you need to adjust for hitting harder.) I wish I had my own table set up so I could test this. I've been estimating this on my TV/Computer screen and pausing a lot of videos that are demonstrating follow shots. I think this could be an improvement to the accuracy of the follow system. I plan on testing this out the next chance I get on a friend's table or a pool hall. I'm really glad you made this video. It has motivated me to figure out how I can use it to simplify aiming caroms. I've noticed that the majority of "ticky" shots are approaching the carom ball at near 1/2 ball hits and they seem to be heading at the aim point at the back of the ball to make them, as you showed for these carom shots. I also think that some form of application of this method can help me improve how to visualize where to aim to make a ticky carom, billiard or combo.

@@DrawShotTV Let me see you use it to carom a ball in the corner pocket with a 3/4 ball hit with the object ball 4 to 5 feet from the target. How about a 1/4 ball hit too? No cheating.

I'm not saying it's not useful... I'm just saying it's not perfect for all shots. And I'm still trying to figure out how to use it to simplify all my shots because it has merit.

I tried this on a variety of shots and there are certain cases where its not even close, but others where its fairly close. What I found to be easier, rather than aiming to a spot on the ball that you cant see is to just mirror your contact point to the other side of the ball. If you watch the videos back you will noticed the shot line goes almost exactly through the point mirrored on the other side of the ball. As an example of when it didnt work for me, put the 4 ball dead center on the table, put the cue ball about 3" left of the spot, put the 9 ball in the left corner pocket at the other end of the table and use the system to try to hit the 9. Just eye balling it its pretty clear that a very thin hit on the 4 would send the cue ball towards the 9 ball, but the system has me hitting it much thicker than that.
@DrawShotTV
@DrawShotTV 2 жыл бұрын
Make sure your cueball has time to straighten out. Once it makes contact with the object ball, the cueball has to get through it. Also, make sure you’re using a follow stroke. Just hitting above center on the cueball isn’t enough. The move the cueball is stunned, the more it will follow the tangent line.

@@dryclimateutah that's not the true point. make a center line from cue ball through the objekt ball. do the same with with objekt ball and ball 3. then you have 2 lines on the back of the objekt ball. divide the distance between those to lines in half and that`s the aim point(backside of the objekt ball) and the system have limits the closer you get to 90 degrees. all most the same with draw shots. make a center line between cue ball and objekt ball. make a line from the objekt ball to where you need the ball to go. then you have to lines on the frontside of the objekt ball divide the distance between those 2 line in half and you have you aim point. or make a strait line between the cue ball and where it needs to go. find half on that line and make a 90 degree line to the objekt ball and that's your aimpoint. so follow is on the back and draw is on the front.
