I had a firewood mission that was gonna require me to setup my triaxle dump truck for hauling firewood and I would need the Eastonmade Axis, Artillian grapple and John Deere 755, plus I'd be using my backhoe wood splitter to get this job done!

I was thinking the same. Sure- he got an entire tree worth of firewood, and to some people that’s a huge value. But to get it he needed a backhoe, dump truck, trailer, wood splitter, vehicle insurance, multiple vehicle registrations, big chain saws, lots of fuel, etc etc. I couldn’t help but to think how much this job actually cost him- and would your typical neighbor be able to afford to pay even the cost he put into it? Talk about a real gift… Even if he charges for these sorts of services- what a legend to have around!

Neil… did you ever notice that people who sell firewood only have split wood in their stacks? I always wondered… What do they do with all the pole wood? I burn anything larger than my wrist… in fact… pole wood burns longer… kind of like knotty splits. It is great for extending burns when mixed with splits over a bed of coals. I’m thinking your line-up is pretty complete. The chainsaw, grapple, backhoe splitter and bucket are perfect for getting the wood to the Axiis. The bucket on the backhoe and dump truck are well matched… and work well for getting the wood from the splitter to the woodshed. Two trips out and two trips back to haul it all ain’t bad considering how much liniment it replaces… all-in-all, I think your pretty well set. Neighbor Mike and I are working on a deal to upgrade our wood processing. He found an old 12’ chain conveyor at a farm nearby. The farmer wants to trade it for a little welding work. Mike can weld… and I can refurbish the conveyor. We’re gonna pull the trigger after Christmas. We think it’ll work great for getting the wood from Frankensplitter to the dump trailer…. The only thing we haven’t figured out yet is… where are we gonna get a dump trailer??? Ahhh, the March of Progress. If a feller ain’t improving his wood processing operation… age and the rising cost of liniment will pretty much put him out of business! I’m glad to see your progress is working out splendidly.
@digdrivediy
@digdrivediy 6 ай бұрын
A dump trailer would suit you all too well Dave! I've often daydream about putting a dump trailer to work and think it would be the perfect companion for the compact tractor. I think you'd better ask for one for Christmas! There is a neighbor here that has an elevator sitting out for sale as well. I've been trying to figure out a way that I could justify that as well. I'll be interested in seeing your new setup when it's all done for the inspiration! Have a great week!
