Thanks for sharing your videos of your Dad and his deterioration with Alzheimer's. My Dad passed away in July last year from this horrific disease. He never lost his sense of humour but hated being in a nursing home. He spent the time in there constantly stressed out because he just wanted to go home to my mum 😞 I'd never, ever seen my Dad cry and seeing him in tears was traumatizing. I was with him when he passed away and he had been unconscious and when he heard me cry and put my head on his chest, he put his arms around me and hugged me, patting me on the back! He had had a stroke and had a left sided deficit, yet he hugged me with full strength. It was the most amazing moment and I will never forget it. ❤

Bless you. My mother too has Alzheimers it is so awful. She is so confused. I just watched a video you posted of him when he kept going through the house and you asked him what he was looking for... something, they just don't know what because the brain isn't making connections anymore.

It is great your dad can still walk on his own. My mom can’t. Trying to get my 4”9 mom in my Jeep is a huge ordeal. But before she got bad we still have fun going out to stores or getting our nails done.

I worked on the Alzheimer’s/Dementia side of a nursing home, I hated when they would just change rooms on the residents w/o discussing with family or all of staff, it was always “financial” reasonings 🙄 It would totally & I mean TOTALLY mess with the resident! One lil lady CONTINUOUSLY pace the halls, going back to her old room only to be walked out & diverted to her new room. She would pace for hours, one night she must have became exhausted & fell, smashing her head on the wall requiring stitches & broke her shoulder & hip...she had to be restrained to her bed & was THEN put back in her original room! I was furious!!! Sadly, she never recovered from her fall...just 2 more months of agonizing pain & withering away! 😔😡 I was eventually let go the 1st chance the facility had to rid of me because I complained “too much”...because I wasn’t there to be staffs’ “friend”...I was there to be residents friend & caregiver!!! They couldn’t speak up, SO I DID!!!! 😔

@@DanTheMan-gj8dy I wasn’t mad at the lady, I was mad at the facility for moving her…when all she knew was that room!! The facility did it for financial reasons…they should have never moved her…she kept going back & everyone tried to get her to her new room! You totally didn’t read my post right or I didn’t explain it right! But if you’ve ever worked at a nursing home facility, you would know what I’m talking about! The people who sit behind desks make the rules, not considering the patient! I’m not a mad person, I’m a too caring of a person!! And because I spoke up for the people who couldn’t speak…they needed to shut me up!! That poor woman might have lived much longer there had they of just kept her in the room she had originally…you can’t make changes on a dementia/Alzheimer patient & not expect a problem!! And I was not working the midnite shift when she fell, I only found out the next time I worked & heard what happened!

Spend your time with him, show your love to him even if he can't understand but the feelings can make him happy. And care for him as he cared for u when u was a child, Nothing is in his hand, if he do something wrong don't shout at him and don't let the evil people provoke u, Don't listen to them. He is your Dad, if he gone (Allah na kare) then you'll never find someone like him again.

So true, always feeling caged-in. Needs stimulation & distraction & things familiar to him, like photos, music, familial-friendly voices minus the constant obvious recording (get a go-pro if you must) but please use your hands to comfort him. Chat with him about life outside & times long gone. Show appreciation & respect, not this stagnant stalker silence thing interjected with absurd commentry, please.😭

Your Dad looks great. Seems to be doing so well. Maybe you should put the camera down and just visit and enjoy the time you have left with him. I think it’s undignified that you put the camera on him in these stages of his life. Maybe think about whether or not he would have wanted to be filmed in this way in his condition. Would you want to be filmed this way for all the world to see? Just saying to think about it please. I’m not trying to be rude or anything and I really hope you don’t take it that way. I’m sure you love your Dad very much. My Mother has Alzheimer’s and has always been very dignified and I know she wouldn’t want anyone to see her like that.

Thank you for doing this. I am sure it brings comfort. My mom went through cancer treatment. My brother filmed her at the cancer center. He made her laugh. This is life..thank you for sharing your life with us.
