Just Watching Trains at York

I like the wide variety of train types and liveries in this one. It would be quite a challenge to make a list of them. Whereas once I’ve seen one S7/8 stock subsurface train I’ve seen them all.

I like the tannoy announcement for the Blackpool North train 😀. The shots of the bridge from near the national railway museum are nice too

I had to change at York when I went to Whitby earlier in the year. The Grand Central Adelante must be their Sunderland (?) service. I’ve been on their Bradford service a few times and it’s always very packed.

Jago, I was at York a couple of years ago and then went to Newcastle. They are so similar, it's uncanny.

Final thoughts: this makes me want to go travelling about again! Why is there such a large gap between tracks? Was there another line through there at one point? Also ahZOOMuh. It zooms up the ECML!

Yes there was a track there in the past. I am guessing it was removed to make space for electrification. There are also a few other tracks that have been lifted at York. No idea why that has happened.
