Love seeing other people's altars, makes me feel connected to other pagans and my own practice as well

I've been a witch for around 1,5 years and even during that short time my altar has changed a lot. It's changed many many times in size and especially in what it holds, I used to put everything witchcraft related on it but now I have two other shelfs for those as I've acquired a lot more materials. Currently my altar holds a couple candles, my daily jewelry, bowl of my crystals, tarot, the elements and a couple things dedicated to my spirit guide. It's fun to see how much things have changed in such little time!

My altar space is small, but I use what I can! It started off as largely a sticks, rocks, and dried plant hoard, and is now a bit more organized. I use the top of a bookshelf under my windowsill, with space for my tarot decks, a bowl for a harmony/cleansing salt I cycle out monthly, and candles for my grandmother and old pets. One side is more of a workspace, the other has the memorial candles and space for their objects (a rock in a color my grandma liked, a dog statue, etc).

I think the biggest change in my alter is the amount of stuff. When I was new I felt like I needed EVERYTHING, I have purged it more than once. Now I think it's more comfortable and not nearly as cluttered.

my altar used to be exclusively about the elements, with feathers, some moon water, a plant and a candle, but i since welcomed the worship of Apollo into my practice so that added a nice golden candle and an offering dish - as well as my tarot decks and my rocks :)

My alter looks completely different now. I have "work" crystals on it, angel tarot cards, more books, and insence holder with 2 small fake flowers at the bottom of it. It looks more efficient now in my opinion.

The altars and magical working space you are showing remind me of the anime movie Howl's Flying Castle. The author of my favorite tarot books, is Melissa Cynova, The Kitchen Table Tarot. She loves to use Wonder Woman as one of her deities. She encourages people to use any fictional character or celebrities for deity worship. I love this idea.

I've practiced for about 2 years now and my altar started as this wall mounted ikea shelf under a mirror with one of my mom's old silk scarves, just a couple white candles and a box with herbs, mini tarot cards, and some stones. I had started to store books and moon water up there when it basically ripped out of the wall, sending stuff all over my floor. needless to say i switched over to a small nightstand a lot closer to the floor after that lol. eventually i out grew the nightstand and pulled a table out of the basement that had just been sitting there since my dad found it on the side of the road. I have used that altar ever since and have spirit altars on almost every surface in my room. right now i mostly keep a few candles, some spells, various crystals and river rocks, and a space for my guide on my working altar. Each of the deities i work with have a space one a bookcase or table for themselves and i have offerings and things they are associated with on there!

I’ve been a witchling for six months, and one of the first things I did was make an altar for myself (though I called it a shrine until I got comfortable with the term altar, because it seemed “too occult”) stupidly, my first attempt at an altar used the same desk that I use for my schoolwork. Not only was this counterproductive because I would get distracted in the middle of studying (“ooh, my candle flickered! Let’s do a tarot reading!”) but all the negativity and yuckiness I brought home was immediately dumped there XD- not a smart move. I moved my altar to my other desk and it’s much better now haha. I keep it very simple on top, just a ward crystal, my devotional orchid, and a little decoration meant to represent whatever season we’re in- but underneath, in the drawers? Chaos. Thank you so much for making this video, I adore sacred spaces and sacred days and sacred things in general, getting to see them always feels so special and inspiring. Amazing yet again, lovely! Happy pride month btw 😊🏳️🌈

I’ve been a practitioner for about a year now and it has changed a good amount. Before it was really extravagant and obvious but now it’s just candles, a few crystals, and a few small things that remind me of what I’m doing.

I actually have an antique-ish dresser that I keep in my main living space. I call it an _Aldress_ (pronounced: all-driss) a mixture between altar & dresser 😊 The top 2 small drawers contain the main spell ingredients I use, and the other drawer is dedicated to candles/incense. Then the drawers contain their own things. The top drawer holds my sigil notebooks, working notebooks, research/planner, & Book of Shadows, etc. The next drawer holds my oils & diffuser. Next drawer holds all my small boxes & chests (that hold their own category of things) The next drawer is for my fire proof plate [it's too big, and not as aesthetically pleasing as yours lol] and my bag of practical tools [tweezers, pokers, athame, mini funnel, mini pourer, scoop, etc.] Hmm, I feel like no one ever talks about the daily _practical_ mundane TOOLS you need. Anddd the last drawer is secret 😋 It helps me keep everything is one point of practice (which helps my ADHD & pain) - but also so this entire room doesn't have craft stuff in every corner. Just this room tho 🙃 Thank you for sharing with us btw!

My altar has a statue of Diana, a copper bowl with crystals, a small bowl of water, a mini mortar-and-pestle with salt in it, an orange, a small cauldron, a spell candle, several chime candle holders, and a 7-day candle that I light daily in devotion to Diana! I’d love to see a video of your plants in detail w/magickal correspondences.

I'm binge watching altar tour videos as I'm about to film one 😆 and I loved this!! I haven't come across your channel before, that sacred union of folk magic and animism is my jam so I subbed, yay. I love how you connect with plants in your practice. Your maranta is flourishing! My altars have changed so much over the thirty odd years I have been practising. Initially I started with a more wiccan style set up (that was all I knew about in the early 90s) but these days it's a lot of shrines plus my desk, where I do client readings and spiritual journaling, and my working altar/ apothecary space. I also have a Mary devotional shrine/ altar and an ancestor altar. I do plan on showing my ancestor altar in my tour, but mine is in the kitchen so it is more a family altar - not so personal as yours sounds. I do have a couple of set ups in my bedroom which are completely private though, so I get it. Thank you for sharing 💗

My altar has changed so many times. It's grown and shrunk and been a working space or just a decorated space. Right now it's a small space decorated to reflect my practice, with incense burner, candle and offering plate, and most of my practice is done out in the garden or with the many plants scattered around the house.

I love seeing other peoples plants! (And altars!!) I had to get rid of many of my houseplants recently due to a pest infestation that was very overwhelming to deal with but on the brighter side my balcony herb and veggie garden is mostly thriving 🥰 as for altars, in the beginning so almost a year ago i just had one big altar with everything and as of right now i have a few different ones spread across my apartment like my ancestor altar and one that i try to redecorate with the different seasons 🥰

As I started working more and more with animal spirits, as well as collecting bones, my altar became a working space to honor these spirits. I would love to have more space to dedicate an altar to each animal spirit but alas, I do not have the space. I’m happy, though, with my altar and I feel encouraged to see what I can do to arrange my space

I feel like my main altar is pretty close to how it felt when I started. Only been practicing for a year and a half, so I dont think I have too many things I can cycle through just yet. That being said, I had 2 legendary pokemon figures that I kept on it, since day one(Solgaleo / Lunala used them for Sun/Moon energy. Thought it was very on the nose) I've only just took them off the alter, this month. I thought they needed a break! They'll go back on it day one. 😅

oh my god using pokemon cards to channel the elements or stuff like that is such a creative idea!! do you mind if i take some inspiration for my own altar?

@@max-rbln when I was younger and had no many things I used Little Twin Stars for God and Goddess. Now my altar is all white and very disguised. It still works as an altar (to myself) but I removed all when I became essentially an agnostic and I was bored with people coming my house and asking who's this who's that. Also sometimes deities didn't want to stay on the same altar. Now it looks like a posh home decor with a white vase on top of a cabinet for living room. All the stash is kept closed below.

My altar at first was just an aesthetically pleasing arrangement of plant material and crystals and things when I was living with my parents. Now it is obviously more pagan but also easier to quickly pack away when my parents visit as I'm still in the broom closet

I have two different altars (though i might turn my plant collection outside into an altar for lady Life and lord Death) my smaller altar is my religious altar for mainly Hermes but I do praise other spirits on it as well. My other altar is my Bigger and Working altar. I always use Avon bottles in my practice for Iconography like a Dog shaped bottle for lord Death and a Log bottle for grounding oil.

When I first started my alter was very elaborate, and hard to work with. Nowadays I usually keep only the things I work with often (crystals, spells, incense, tarot) on my alter inside a doll cabinet. Then again, I just moved, so currently my alter is in a tiny box next to my books with a singing bowl on top😅😂

My altar space has always been so chaotic but right now it’s almost exclusively plants, bones I’ve found or been given, and rocks I’ve found. Got a few candles scattered about and a little tray of items that honor a deceased relative, and I think somewhere on it is my bottle of cat whiskers but I’m not really sure where that is lmao And- keep collecting plants! It looks like you’ve got a lot of great indirect lighting in your room which I’m sure your micans and maranta love :)

That was so sweet to watch! i'd say i'm fairly new, as i've only been seriously practicing for a little over a year (though i went on & off in my practice as a teen, but geniunely was so messy and had difficult things to deal with so lol). I used to have like one altar i put everyone on (not a good idea) and a lot of plants too. Now, I have five altars and each plants has a spot with their own crystals and mementos I brought from trips that make me think of them. Needless to say, my room is full, but I ironically find it less chaotic to have all these busy places :')
