The reason _why_ Tiber Septims and his decedents can wear the amulet of kings isn't because he ascended to godhood and became Talos. It's because they are (probably symbolic) decedents of Alessia, who entered into a Covenant with Akatosh where, in return for her and her decendents wearing the amulet of kings, he would keep the dragonfires lit and thus oblivions influence from Mundus (which contains Nirn, the mortal plane.) Her, Reman Cyrodill, and Tiber Septim were all approved by Akatosh to sit on the Ruby Throne, and thus their decedents could wear the Amulet of Kings. Basically, Septims can wear the amulet b/c of the Covenant with Akatosh where he would keep the dragonfires lit and thus Oblivion and Mundus seperate as long as Alessia and her decedents wore the Amulet of Kings. IDK if Tiber Septim being Dragonborn, where he had the Aedric Soul of a Dragon, had any influence over it all but he sits on the Ruby Throne and Akatosh likes him, so his kids can wear the amulet. Sorry for the lore dump, trying to not *UM ACKSHUALLY* you, I just genuinely think tES lore is fascinating and I like to go thru the UESP wiki and like. learn about all this. It's so cool. tES has some really neat lore. Sorry if there's anything I got wrong.

@colbyboucher6391 Жыл бұрын
To extend this, I've thought a lot about the deal Akatosh made for the past few years. Really a very good deal for him and maybe not so good for mortals. "I'll protect you so long as you uphold an empire that worships me as it's primary diety", essentially?? And this at the tail-end of a humanity which saw Shezzar / Shor (you-know-who literally fought Akatosh at the head of the first ever war) as the God of Man in a lot of ways. FYI the biggest reason why AKA and Lorkhan aren't buds (according to Kirkbride at least) is that Lorkhan's whole deal is for someone to achieve Amaranth, start a new dream. Which would mean no more Akatosh. So Akatosh uses Pelinal, certainly a Shezzarine, to shift humanity's scales in his favor, simultaneously making the Shezzarines a force for himself. He has Alessia create a new religion with him at the head, designed to make elvish gods more palpable for a group that was just enslaved by elves for hundreds of years. Then later on in a weird twist, Talos shows up, probably Mantling Lorkhan, restoring the Dragon's other half (they're two sides of the same coin ultimately, Time and Space). What that means in the grand scheme of things might never be even hinted at, since all the interesting writers at Bethesda are gone. Maybe it's all part f Lorkhan's plan in the end.

Oblivions lock pick game is actually very easy once you know the trick. When the tumblers will stay in place, the attempt you make that WILL stick when you press the button if it makes a very distinct double click sound. All the bad attempts give a single click sound. Your character skill will only really scale the chance to get the double click sound per attempt and the speed the tumblers fall/how man fall/how fast you can force the lock
@ieuanhunt5529 ай бұрын
I actually close my eyes and just go off sound ques. The visuals are a bit deceptive
@HappyBeezerStudios5 ай бұрын
Yeah, at first glance it looks super random, but it isn't. A shame that they didn't include it in Skyrim and went with the Fallout style lockpicking instead. Also a shame that there is no direct way to influence NPCs disposition. It's still a stat in the game, but never shown to the player, not even in a vaguely in-universe way, like NPCs dialogue.
@TheSuperappelflap5 ай бұрын
You can also trick the game into giving you the unlock every time by doing a kind of weird double push on the tumbler, but the timing is finicky and depends on your lockpick skill and the level of the lock. But if you know it you can open a master level lock with 1 lockpicking skill in 1 attempt every single time even without the sound cues.

6:08 I mean, as of the events in Oblivion, the Tribunal has basically lost their powers. Even if they hadn't, Sotha Sil and Almalexia are both dead, and Vivec has disappeared. So, there's nobody around who could possibly enforce the Coldharbour Compact.
@JustBackgroundNoise Жыл бұрын
That's a good point. I guess I assumed it was more metaphysical than just a multi-dimensional treaty. You'd think the Planemeld would be a violation, but the Tribunal didn't seem to care very much. Y'know, that might be why he has to rely on mortals opening gates. Not only do the dragonfires keep him out, which are weakening through the course of the game, but his punishment following his attack on Mournhold might have sealed him away more strongly than other gods. Or maybe the compact only applies to Princes forcing their way into Nirn, not mortals opening up passage ways into Oblivion.
@NarlepoaxIII Жыл бұрын
@@JustBackgroundNoise I figured that the Tribunal had to enforce it, since Sotha Sil and Almalexia actually stepped in to stop Mehrunes Dagon when he violated the Compact. Oblivion's lockpicking is also my favorite of the bethesda games, skill based and not skill gated with minimum levels required to even attempt to open locks. And the minigame itself is more fun than the stupid 'turn pin/key sideways, then turn screwdriver/other pin and hope your main pin doesn't instantly shatter'. The circle lockpicking minigame is just tedious to do

are you implying the oblivion lockpicking isnt tedious? also not being skill gated is a bad thing. it makes the skill completely unnecessary, and just means every character will be forced into a stupid minigame hundreds of times throughout their lives
@MarkofWisdom Жыл бұрын
@@ImperialCaleb it is far less tedious to me than the FO3/Skyrim lockpicking minigame, and all 3 games force you to do the minigame(s) many, many times over your run if you want to get most of the loot locked in chests and other locked things. I also much prefer at least having the *option* to attempt locks that are 'too hard' for my character's current lockpick/hacking skill, rather than the game just going 'no, you don't even get the chance to even attempt this lock' if you don't meet the skill floor-most of the time unless you're able to use skill magazines/temporary boosts to clear the skill floor on the spot to be able to attempt the lock, you're very unlikely to ever come back and try the lock when your character's lockpicking/hacking skill is high enough. And there not being a skill floor to attempt locks doesn't mean the skill is useless-each increase does make it so there is more leeway in the timing to pick the locks/the unlock sweet spot, and the auto attempt chance gets higher with the skill for the games that have the auto attempt option
@tadferd4340 Жыл бұрын
@@ImperialCalebThe Skyrim lockpicking minigame is far worse. You can pick any lock with minimum skill, except now it's less player skill based and involves more guesswork. 3:36 "Honestly, some of the skills in this game feel more like support than anything else... You're not gonna *beat* the game with those skills." I fully expect to see you post a video at some point where you beat an Elder Scrolls game using *only* items you can get by lockpicking, poisons crafted through alchemy, or something along those lines.

Presumably the Coldharbour Compact would've been nullified when Almalexia murdered Sotha Sil in the Tribunal DLC for Morrowind.

I'm guessing the Conjuration pool has heavy armor as bound armor is technically heavy, although giving light armor experience it is daedric and I believe some of it counts as heavy? Probably just to simplify things down the line even if it ended up being more convoluted.

In vanilla Oblivion the bound cuirass and greaves are flagged as heavy armor while the helmet, gauntlets and boots are flagged as light armor. The unofficial oblivion patch, which a lot of people will use for bug fixes, makes the entirety of bound armor into light armor.

Everything from 14:25 to 15:15. How could I possibly leave this channel in the background knowing I could be missing such glory?

6:48 - Actually, Savlian Matius tells you at the start if the quest that it must be possible to close the gates, because the Daedra closed the ones they opened during the initial attack, even commenting that you can see the marks on the ground where they were. It's still a long shot, for sure, but his theory is at least somewhat supported.

NPC? Try to fight a few Imperial Guards at the same time while you're at a high level and ask yourself who is the real hero in this story.

I liked playing oblivion and pretending I was a Witcher. The thieves guild quest line is also the best guild quest in my opinion.

I remember seeing a theory that Marune Dagon wouldn't care if he won the events of the oblivion crisis. He is a God of many things, but change is one of his domains. By forcing change, he gets what he wants. From my memory, nothing really stops him from causing another oblivion crisis

An interesting followup could be doing it as specific NPC, including copying their names, stats and playing the game how that NPC would do.

8:30 once the orb is collected you can jump to the bottom skipping the scene of the tower falling apart. Saves a lot of time if you're trying to close them all!
