having watched this channel for so SO many years it is just so unbelievably lovely to see where you guys are at these days and to hear you talk about your friendship and each other so positively and maturely. i’m 22 and i’ve been watching jbu since i was about 15 and i honestly don’t feel i ever quite realised how helpful it’s been for me to see an example of a real friendship and real people over time, kind of makes me feel like everything will be Vaguely Okay! not to burden you with SHAPING YOUNG MINDS or anything oops

totally agree with Allison's later point, there are people who I can communicate my anxieties to and our communication methods align (texting over in person for example) and thats why our friendships are so close. That's the best feeling! When I don't have to ruminate over how to best present my thoughts or whether my ask is too much etc.

100% agree about gabe's knowledge on queer culture and to be able to communicate that eloquently!!! it has taught me so much especially in my own understanding of myself as queer person and also navigating my own gender journey!! gabe has genuinely given me the confidence to also hold my own when I'm (unfortunately) engaged in debates about queerness n transness

I’ve been watching / listening to you two and following your journeys since the Buzzfeed days, and you’ve given me laughs, moments of personal clarity, and new ways to give myself grace for life’s toughest moments. But I just got diagnosed with OCD, and I recently had a friendship that meant a lot to me end, and this conversation just hits so much harder. I just listened to the don't blame me episode based on Gabe's comment in this episode, and I wanna say thank you for expressing everything I'm feeling atm Gabe. I've just come out as a non-binary lesbian, and chosen to completely not engage with people questioning me or my gender. I understand why this narrative of transness being simple and something 'you always knew' is being pushed, since it's more palatable for cis people, but it doesn't match the lived experience of me or most of the trans people I know, and it makes feeling valid in your gender much harder.

There's a comment on one of the very early skits on this channel that said "I wish I had someone who looked at me the way Gabe looks at Allison." Today, I wish I had someone who talked about me the way these two talk about each other. As to the complement: Last week I gave a public lecture on "The Intellectual History of the Nerd" to 900 people and the convener walked a kilometre out of their way afterwards to complement me on how well I did.

I went to make a new review on the Apple podcast app and realized I had been unsubscribed somehow. When I went to re-follow, it crashes. Every time. Same thing happened to my roommate on her phone (she’d also been unsubscribed somehow). So I figured it was just glitching and come back to it later. I just subscribed to another podcast with no issues so I thought I’d try again (it’d been a few hours) and it still crashes. Just want to let you know since it seems to be just your podcast 🤷🏼‍♀️

oof have such an insecurity around people holding on too closely to what i said, maybe finding their wounds in my words? then censor myself due to that fear or let on that i'm hypervigilant about what i'm saying which kind of suggests to them that i expect they view me like i view myself (within that emotional state)? feel like i needed this haha much to think about. no alarms and no surprises please 😂
