For someone who isn't crazy about Rolex, I find this watch incredibly beautiful. Purple direction, yes, but I don't see pink at all. I would say more towards a brown direction. For better or worse, they strike me as colors of the times rather than timeless or classic colors. By that I mean I suspect some day this watch will be identifiable as being from this generation that preferred to darken the reds and blues of superhero costumes, kitchen utensils, and watch bezels. I'm glad they used the old style jubilee bracelet; I think it keeps it on the ground for a traditional feel. I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend it as a grail.

Steinhart management grin from ear to ear : they offer a decent looking homage with either Jubilee or Oyster, true blue and red bezel, 39 or 42 mil case, very useful AR coating, and no waiting list. I am not a Steinhart fan, but I must admit they have smartly found a good place for themselves in the market.

Nice video sir, especially interesting to see it now, 2 years after it's initial release. Kind of fun to go back to you 3 main points about this watch: 1. Colors of the bezel: They have changed a bit since the original version of this watch came out in 2018, for the better I believe. 2. Jubilee bracelet only....it's a mute point since we now have the choice between the Oyster and Jubilee, and we can even own both since Rolex allows us to order the one that didn't come with the watch. 3. Availability....weeeellllllll your hope of it becoming more available in 1 or 2 years didn't come to fruition, it's still hard to get and it trades even higher than it did when it was released! I am hoping to get mine by the end of this year, in the mean time I have acquired a Bluesy, a Rootbeer, and a DJ41 since this video was made, and it was my purchase history at the same AD that finally has me seeing a light at the end of the tunnel in that my SA told me that I am "officially" on "the list" and that I should be getting it fairly soon. Stellar review. Subscribed. I own a 1675 pepsi gmt master. The bezels vary in color on most vintage gmt's. The jubilee is one of the most comfortable bracelets ever. The bezel color and jubilee configuration has a certain je ne se quoi. I consider this a personal grail piece.

11:03 Correct, the crown between "Swiss Made" is new for 2018. I just purchased two watches that were released at Baselworld 2018 (the new Deepsea D-Blue and the new Root Beer everose rolesor GMT) and they both have it. It signifies the new movement in their respective lines. Last week I also purchased the Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary 43mm "Red", which was released at Baselworld 2017. The initial batch of this SD does not have the crown between the words "Swiss Made" but I hear there's a second batch coming out with the crown between. There have been sightings. If this is true, then the original dial, with no crown, will be even more of a collectible since it is a limited run. Luckily, the one I received has no crown. That is the only difference, since we all know that the SD 50th 43mm "Red" was launched last year with the new 3235 movement. This Pepsi and a SS Daytona are next for me.

I don't remember I'd have to rewatch the video. Rolex has movements that work both ways, although people generally think that all Rolex movements work the same way as the most common 3135 movement.

Thanks for the great review Guy, really enjoyed it. Not a huge fan of GTM-Masters in general, but I like this watch regardless. However, that said, I've noticed for myself personally, over time I get tired of all these different colour variations on a bezel or dial. This was one of the reasons (among others) I sold my SKX009 and my Omega Seamaster diver 300 blue. I much prefer classic black dial black bezel watches or just white dial watches like Explorer II . They are timeless and classy and never get out of style and you never fall out of love unlike blue/green dials and all these colourful bezel combos which feel great in the beginning but eventually are turning into a huge eyesore. The watches that stuck with me are my 116610LN Sub, just like yours, my Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch and my Seiko SRP777 which another black dial and black bezel watch. My IWC Pilot Chrono Le Petit Prince has blue dial which I really hope I will never get tired of because I love that watch so much and honestly want to keep it forever. This is just my personal preference that I thought I would share with you. Keep up the excellent work Guy, it's utterly enjoyable watching your videos. Cheers mate!

I tend to be pretty conservative when it comes to watches and style as well. Typically I only go for black dials and black bezels, but for some reason the red/blue pepsi configuration appeals to me when it comes to watches like this and the SKX009.

Yeah, was a great opportunity to get to spend a few minutes with the watch. I'd say in person the red looks great. The blue is dark and sort of plays between a navy blue and purple tone depending on how the light is hitting it.

Guy, another very informative review. This GMT would easily be my grail watch. I really like world timers and GMT time pieces. For me, I prefer the oyster bracelet because I like the polished center links. However, I agree with you that the jubilee bracelet looks quite stunning. My only complaint would be the clasp. It is a bit too chunky for my taste.

I didn't mind the size of the clasp, but it would be nice if Rolex would put a smaller version of the glidelock clasp on their GMT watches. Something with 10mm of adjustment instead of the 20mm that you find on the Submariner would make for an excellent option on these watches.

The 70-hour power reserve of the new 3285 is decent, not the best but it will do the job. As for AR coating, I believe Rolex just does not want their modern watches to have something that wears over time although why don't they just apply the AR coating on the inside (?) I might be wrong but I think all other Rolex models with date have the quick set date and only the ones with GMT (Master II and Explorer II) do not. The jumping hour hand is not that bad though in setting the date. I may sound like a Rolex fanboy but I assure you I'm not. I like different models from many brands, the GMT II from Rolex included. Cheers!

Maybe I’m biased because I own a 126710BLNR on oyster but I find the BLRO bezel to be very dull. The aluminum Pepsi bezels were the best. I think the BLNR is more versatile overall. FWIW, I think power reserve is overrated. I would have been content with them keeping the 31xx movements in their watches. Arguably some of the best automatic movements EVER built.

Very good review. The camera work and lighting is better than some of the professional ones. The coronet between Swiss and Made at 6 indicates the presence of the new Chronergy 32XX movements, this being 3285 calibre replacing the 3186 used in the other GMT-Master II models with the exception of the other 2 models released at Baselworld 2018 with Rolex Everose pink Gold. Utilising the 24 Hr bezel like you did and Rolex do in the instruction manual removed the need to remember Daylight Saving variations, as when everyone in the Northern Hemisphere moves back and forth from Standard to Daylight Saving, the 5 hours between Eastern USA and London remain. Pacific is 3 behind Eastern. I set the 24 Hr hand to GMT/ UTC as my BlackBerry has all the offsets from that for all the cities loaded in the clock function and changed automatically from Standard Winter Time to Daylight Saving Summer Time. Do you use a script, as you remember a lot of facts. You would not be far off the Gold models paying double for this.

JustBlueFish Watch Reviews You could take advantage of the Rolex AD you used and cover some other Rolex like the Sea Dweller Deepsea which was revised at Baselworld 2018 with a wider bracelet and the Chronergy movement in the Datejust 41 and 2017 release 43mm Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary Edition 3235 calibre, your Submariner has the 3135 older non-Chronergy in. I also like the Yacht Master II stainless steel which is £13,700 here and a complicated watch, slightly less complicated than Rolex's flagship model, the Sky-Dweller which is an Annual Calendar, remembering changes from 30 and 31 to 1, for months, just setting it once a year for February 28 or 29 (every 4 years on a leap year) to 1 March as well as a GMT second time zone and jump hour hand for Local Time.

Regarding the color.....either one likes the current colors or they don’t. Watch people seem to always compare new with old, then judge. What if this model never existed? Would the coloring be acceptable? To me it would. Then the same people covet old faded pink GMT bezels.....go figure!

JustBlueFish Watch Reviews So my AD called and offered me this watch so I bought it. 1). The colors are rich, luscious, and outstanding......WAY nicer than the old ones. 2). Regarding the Jubilee....I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise....after 40 years of wearing this brand I finally bought two watches with Jubilees this year. PS: I’m in Zurich and browsed watches for a few hours yesterday.....VC, PP, AP, JLC, Blancpain, Omega, IWC, Carl F Bucherer, Moser, A Lange & Sohne, Breguet, etc. Watches between 5,000~50,000+ CHF .....and I like NONE more than my Explorer 214270. However, if I would spend 20,000~50,000.....it would be the VC Overseas Simple-Date, or more probably the Day-Date40 in white Gold.

I was lucky enough to sell mine 15 min after purchase with a tasty premium. I couldn't stand the colors. Jubilee was not a deal breaker but I'd rather have it on oyster. As availability in UK is more and more of those, we thought Rolex will keep em on very short supply but the amount they are selling here are huge. Sell when you can !
