Dad made us walk across the flooded road near Hay, when we were kids! He was towing caravan in Holden Commodore, and 6 berth caravan! We weren't too upset, because we didn't think about snakes or spiders that were in the water! Could have been 1975?

Excellent vid, Mick, Interesting the floods down there, different to the types of flooding we have here in the eastern side of the Great Divide, Rapid rising floods, I was born Shepparton VIC, before I was born, my dad took photos of the 1956 flood, Sadly a lot of his movies was lost, Only a little of his travels from Burnie ,Tas, to Bundaberg, Emerald, Springsure Qld , was saved after his death, Beautiful area down there , floods will make the country thrive, Enjoyed the vid Cheers Bevan from Sapphire Central Queensland 🤠🦘🇦🇺

Good piece mate. We had to get to a wedding in Dunkeld from Canberra on Oct 13th. Got within about 128 Km before being turned back before Ararat - road torn up and flood-felled trees. Spent about four hours in Castlemaine before and after the sub-station went under, finding a way out. The round about way was eventually 865Km and 13 hours. Got to Dunkeld at at around 04:30 on the day of the wedding. The final person, a groomsman, got to Dunkeld 30 minutes before the wedding at 16:30. As many of us are Army types, we sent out forward patrols to scout crossings - that sounds a bit cheesy but it worked. We skipped four frothing crossings and took two which were OK. One of our party was able to get through Castlemaine early on, providing directions, but the river came right up, flooded most roads and bombed the sub-station. What a trip! Getting back to the highway a few days later was also a monster trip.

We have been caravaning for many years now and there are not too many places that we haven't been to. Before a couple of years ago, we were mad photographers and never filmed too many movies so there was no KZbin being created back then. Yes we have been to many great Victorian Parks over the years, we are heading to Sale next April for an event over there. We used to travel weekenders and some interstate trips with a good couple years ago but he passed away seven years ago so since then it has always mostly been just Sally and I. Traveling with someone else is great although we found that we wanted to stop to smell the roses more than others did. There is nothing hard to in flying a drone except knowing where it is all of the time. Sun glare is the biggest issue that I find annoying.

@justcruisinwithmicksally837

Rain was once measured in points and inches, one hundred points equal an inch of rain. When we moved over to metric measurements, we lost the old point system. I should get with the new times and measure with millimeters but some things are hard to change over to. NT was a no show, correct.

@@dryroo just saw this as I was interested in the background more. www.bom.gov.au/climate/cdo/about/rain-measure.shtml Rainfall has traditionally been measured to the nearest 0.2mm (1 point, or 1/100th of an inch prior to 1970), although in recent years some observations are being reported to 0.1mm. Any moisture less than this is recorded as a trace.

Wow. There you go. I havent ever investigated it. I know that BOM did funny yhings with converting rainfall charts, I picked this up well over 10 years ago but this one is really astounding. I cant find quickly a Metraverter booklet that I got hold of and still use. (The two pics below show when this book Willowie, Plains of Contrast was published in 1975 with the claim that the data was from BOM. 1 inch was 25mm as I said.) On the net 25 mm is 70 points!
