Wow, that looks amazing. It's my dream to have a car like that. And pretend like we're still living in the 80s. Now, what was the problem with the engine??

Why the 80s? The engine builder accidentally installed head gaskets for a steel block and not the aluminum one we are running. Once we figured it out we contacted them and they asked for the engine back to remedy the issue. We took the down time to correct some little issues we had with the body and when we got the engine back we hooked everything back up and burned up the dyno!

I was just watching Jared Pink firing up his new-built Chevy 454, "Earl" drift car for the first time. He ran into a similar issue. Coolant getting into the oil. Even though he used the correct sealant on them, he had coolant leaks from his head studs. Apparently that Chevy block design has the studs passing through coolant passages and is a known problem point. This made me wonder if MOPAR big blocks share this design flaw?
@JustDriven10 ай бұрын
This Hemi issue was found to have an issue with the shop who built the engine accidentally used an incorrect head gasket. We have an aluminum block and the gasket for a steel block was used. Sounds silly but it was enough to cause all the drama. Thankfully, our team caught it and sent it back to have the engine town down and checked over and built back up with the correct head gasket.

220 = IS HOT. Coolant is in the oil = a tear down. Some cars quit at 220 water temp, some at 240 only depends pressure of system. What really counts is = THE OIL TEMP. If cavitation or air pockets in some places in the coolant passages of any part = it can overheat at much lower water temperatures as well. When i am run on dyno, i build the engine to run at dyno operating temperature on the street at 150 degrees, and a maximum of 180. If it goes to 220 it boils and blows pressure and quits the engine. Do that too many times and the oil temp is skyrocketing by the way, Your entire brand new engine build shall need all new bearings = IN THE VERY LEAST..

The engine was rebuilt by Hawaii Racing. Anything with wear or damage was replaced. Everything looked good for the most. We ran a pretty solid dyno session if you want to check that out. We also have a follow up video on our channel.
