This is the most important part. Luckily they got him when they did as I remember they had already done internal GM interviews before he arrived but Spielman was there for the interviews that mattered. I mean look at his attitude, behavior matches Holmes and Campbell perfect....all are extremely positive rah-rah guys that fit the city of Detroit like a glove. Spielman fingerprints are clearly all over both hires.

The key to the Lions success is great relationships and an emphasis on building relationships. The key to that skill is no egos. Brad and Dan have done wonders with that formula. This team plays hard for each other and does what is needed for team success without whining. The Lions have a ton of skilled players, but to go through all the injuries this season and still win is a testament to this team being greater than the sum of it's parts. This was a great video.

Lions have the perfect leadership from Owner -> GM -> Head Coach -> OC. This is an NFL blueprint for success. Owner is supportive yet completely non-meddling. GM is an amazing drafter who does not care about outside perceptions or 'positional value'. Head coach is a hard-nosed motivator and leader of men, while still being a well-loved 'players coach'. OC is the creative and schematic genius.

It was if you consider how bad they were for how long, and the turnaround, and how the organization was stripped down to bare studs for this rebuild. Ownership all the way down. In Brad Holmes and Campbell’s first year their top THREE highest paid players weren’t even good enough to make the team (remember Jamie Collins and Trey Flowers??) so our cap was in shambles. They did a COMPLETE 180 after year 1.

Being raised in Rochester, and dad taking me to the silverdome two or three times a year in the '70's, the expectations of losing shaped me. I told my dad once I wanted to be a Rams fan. It was '77 I was 10. He said something like. OK, people change loyalties with their teams. Some dad's leave their families. Doesn't make it right, but some people do. After 65yrs of marriage dad passed away this spring. I stayed a lions fan all these years. I wish dad could see this season. His point about loyalty has a much deeper meaning to me now.

Excellent work. Yes, Holmes and Campbell have taken good talent in the draft and coached them up to be top NFL players. It is an amazing turnaround for the Lions franchise. 13-2 as of this post. @djdanicp22 сағат бұрын
It was basically a 30 year rebuild as far as the organization itself is concerned, but the catalyst to success was the day Martha Ford stepped down & passed the torch to Shiela Ford Hamp. That day, the Same Old Lions shed decades of incompetence & became the Brand New Lions. Every decision she subsequently made moved further away from the previous version of the team, starting with Chris Spielman. Thanks to the two of them, we got Holmes & upon his joining the brain trust, the 3 of them settled on Campbell. Campbell's ability to find & recruit some of the most talented & previously unknown coaches can't be understated as one of the biggest keys to their on field success. His staff is top notch.....one of, if not the best in the league. From top to bottom, the organization now runs like a well-oiled machine & everybody in the building is rowing in the same direction with a culture that is so uniquely pervasive shared by everyone from the front office to the training staff to the locker room that the bonds are like that of a family. When you factor in the continuity from year to year bc the staff wants to be in the building & have on multiple occasions turned down potential promotions elsewhere to remain with the team. Now, the most truly competitive players that are motivated to be the best & put winning above all jump at the chance to sign here & appreciate the opportunity to join a group that seems to be doing it the right way. This team is so different now, it might as well be a whole new franchise & it was the most impressive thing to follow closely in real time. Mark my words.....we are witnessing the start of the next NFL dynasty.

Might argue the fastest rebuild was Bill Walsh’s of the 1981 San Francisco 49ers or Don Shula in Miami, or even the 1999 Rams. Walsh got a Hall of Fame quarterback in the 3rd round in 1979 and the Niners were 2-14. He rebuilt his secondary in the 81 Draft. Shula rebuilt the Dolphin line and defense from castoffs and discovered Mercury Morris. The 1969 Dolphins were 3-10-1. The Rams got Kurt Warner as an undrafted free agent. That was supposed to be Trent Green’s team. The 1998 Rams were 4-12. In all cases the teams had front office or coaches (in SF case Walsh was both) who were capable of seeing NFL level talent in unusual places and developing it; Walsh and Vermeil got HOF quarterbacking at a discount, which allowed them to build a team around it. But Detroit follows the pattern set by both of having an inordinate amount of talent join a roster all at the same time.

The Lions 2021 offseason is one of the best in NFL History. Goff and Stafford are basically a wash from their standpoint, except Goff had less of a cap hit, but lets just call it even from the Lions standpoint(Rams got their Super Bowl so it worked out for them). In that case they essentially got 2 free 1st round picks and a third. In the draft they got an All Pro Tackle and arguably best in the league, an All Pro WR, Pro Bowl DT, plus SAM LB, plus Safety and another rotational DT. With the Rams picks they got a frontline RB, All Pro TE, 1K WR and the capital to get Brian Branch a likely pro bowl DB.

Depends on your definition of built…I’d say the Lions never had a true foundation and I believe that falls strictly on ownership..since Sheila took on Principle ownership in 2020 after passing of her mother she cleaned house Hired a man with a vision and extensive talent in player recruitment who hired another man with a vision and exceptional leadership qualities who then hired 2 of the league’s current best coordinators. From that point forward every single player on this roster has been strategically added or subtracted resulting in a team that truly embodies the DNA of GRIT, RESILIENCE, SKILL and most importantly WINNING!! so no I do not believe this has been a 50 year rebuild. In order to rebuild some thing you would’ve had to of already had something built in the past. …

I had one of my best friends over who's a football junkie as i am a detroit lions junkie. well we talked for a hot minute and I got on the subject of in 2025 how do the Lions get better with what's available in free agency in the draft. Hear me out free agency top free agents don't seem to fit the lines roster because we already have starters I know we all hear it players want to go to a place that's winning and will sacrifice put being the Top Dog in coming to a team that already has top dogs you really willing to go from the number one to number three as a rotational backup. Then comes the draft unless we are trading up and giving away capital for one guy what is there that we get that makes our team better comethe 2025 draft. Upgraded backups for the whole draft. We have a first and the second round or no third those pics are obviously at the end of rounds. Now as I told him it's a great problem to have. Now my thought is in the first round if you draft someone album for 5 years so is that first year going to be someone like a guard who's possibly going to sit and maybe get some rotational time and learn when you have veterans who are so good or maybe drafting an edge player wasn't quite obviously the top because drafting at the end of the first you're not getting the top dog Edge rusher defensive end so are you willing to take someone at 31 32 who is really ranked 10 spots behind......???? And by no means am I complaining I'm just really lost as a Detroit Lions fan looking into the future to figure out what we do. Most fans armchair GMS easily have three things that they know in their mind how the team can improve but I just sit here stuck I guess what I'm saying is can someone help me open up and see something that I am blind to right now as a Detroit Lions fan
