Absolutely fantastic yet pretty heartbreaking interview with Julian. You can see how much it means... and that belt does still mean the world to many fighters. Agree with pretty much all of what was said in this, and look forward to Julian being on again! Keep us updated Russ if anything gets done about this. I'd heard GS's name mentioned a few times over the years on commentaries or whatever, although his career was a bit before my time. What great topic of discussion. I had 80 amatuer fights. Won titles at underage level and boxed international. Boxing was everything i dreamed of turning professional and making a proper go of it but i got to an age where distractions got in the way i.e drink, drugs and chasing women. There were times were i had regrets about the path i chose thinking how good could i have been if only this if only that but being educated here on what julian says i think i made the right call. the game is too crooked and im from across the pond so gaining a following would have been a nightmare.

I'm from leeds carl Johansen is the last notable boxer before warrington. He was actually really good but apparently not committed enough or some shit. Sykes has some great british names on his record when you consider all things, he was before warrington and the closest to leeds having a decent boxer when I was growing up lol one of the few things i know dewsbury for along with shannon mathews getting kidnapped. But anyway i remember seeing him get thrashed in the walsh fight and thinking wow hes trash and shot to shit. Little do you know the tales behind all these fights and fighters careers, never as simple as it looks. Julian seems like a good honest man and I respect that a lot.

Fancy changing it from 3 defence's to 4 when the pool of fighters most probably isn't as big as it used to be and fighters go different routes its difficult to do to make 4 defence's as boxers now have 25 fight careers 🥊👍
