One of my favorite details is that despite Star Sapphire having a grudge against Green Lantern, her plan doesn't actually involve him dying. It shows that Carol on some level still cares about Hal.

Does it? There are so many instances in media about how death is a mercy. “Putting someone out of their misery” kind of thing. I’d argue that by allowing him to live but be in constant moral agony makes her the most sadistic of the Legion and shows just how much she despises him. Contrary to that, the fact that Hal IS in agony over the “loss” of this other “Carol” who reminds him of his Carol, shows us just how much he regrets whatever he did to her and how much it probably weighs on him. The fact that Star Sapphire CAN’T see that is what I find truly heartbreaking.

Originally this story is based on the comic Justice League Babel. Some things were different such as it being Ra's Al Ghul as the main villain, Flash was hit in the spine with a vibrating bullet that caused him to have seizures at super speed, Aquaman was given hydrophobia and some other changes to the story. Also, this movie had nothing to do with the crisis on two earth's. This was also another stand alone movie.

@@DanV900 its got different feel to it in terms of characters. At least it does for the Flash. The crisis on two earth's Flash had Wally's personality, but the Doom Flash was shown to be Barry Allen.

This is definitely one of my favorite DC animated films. I know you guys don't want to do tv series, but I'm gonna keep plugging Young Justice on here because I really think you'd enjoy it. It has one of the best Dick Graysons I've seen on screen and season 2 is one of the first on screen adaptations of Jaime Reyes blue beetle.

Would be extremely difficult to lay a trap for someone expecting it which Batman’s plans relied on. It’s not like the methods in which these contingencies relied upon were just boldfaced confrontations. It’s like launching a surprise attack from behind someone while yelling, “Surprise!”

One of my favorite episodes in Justice League Unlimited is the "The Great Brain Robbery" where Rosenbaum's Wally West switches minds with Brown's Lex Luthor. Just seeing both actors imitating the other is just hilarious. Rosenbaum when interviewing Brown in Inside of You podcast said it was their favorite episode.

This is a side note, but this and many other movies prior to the DCAMU have a great balance of on screen violence. It’s not so tame that characters can’t be hurt or villains can’t use guns and such, but it’s also not so aggressively violent that is sort of loses its punch or makes it feel like needless gore.

Unfortunately, it kind of misses the point of Tower of Babel. That story was all about Batman's hubris nearly destroying the League, and the consequences he and the League suffer for it. Batman's family of heroes face paranoia for a long time from other heroes, because of what he did. Even Barbara Gordon tells him "hey, you screwed up" And later on, Bruce himself even admits that he could have told the League "hey, we need contingencies, we need to be ready for the worst" instead of trusting only himself with that. The movie? Not only does it have Batman save everyone's asses, it treats him like he's right even when he's wrong.

Based off the superman/batman series during the early 00s. I’d say though the art was different. They are the same supes and bats. The art is similar to their comic book source material. That book series had different artists showcase their styles. So I appreciate how they did that for the movies as well.

One of the many reasons Batman is my all time favorite superhero is that he (unlike the other core members) can clearly see how dangerous that the Justice League can be. How any of them can either willingly, be forced under duress, or under mind control, can cause as much pain and suffering as any of the many villains they fight. He can see how even heroes need to be kept in check. There is actually a scene in one of the Justice League comics where after Batman comes to trust Superman completely, takes him to the batcave and shows him these boxes he has locked in a safe that contain either the weapons, technology or plans needed to incapacitate any or all members of the Justice League. But when he shows Clark Wonder Woman’s container he opens it to sho it is empty. Meaning even the smartest and most devious tactician and strategist in the world can’t find a true weakness for Diana.

Green Kryptonite is a material weakness that only negatively affects him and other Kryptonians. Mght sound pedantic, but that is correct. Beside that, of course an enchanted weapon will cut him like a regular blade would a human, but Diana can't overpower him, which is where he will always have the edge.

I see your point but that's not Batmans nature and to be honest, that could cause problems as well..the more ppl that know a thing the greater the chance it will get out and to the enemies of the JL...Think about it, if a enemy mind controlled one member, picked his/her brain and found out, Hey Batman has detailed plans on how to take down the entire league. I mean let's be honest here, Batman most likely has more resistance to mind control than the entire league..he has trained and study just about everything in both the physical and the mental to prepare himself so he would be wary of the other leaguers ability to resist.

And it was because Batman didn't tell the League he had the plans that they were in danger and because he didn't secure them well enough that they were in danger. That's ridiculous. He'd likely controlled just like them. What'd be the contingency for that and no, not the League since its apparently so easy for him to take them down.

The level of destruction Superman can do mind controlled is unimaginable so I can see why Batman would focus on those leaguers who are like nukes as far as forming plans to stop them.

He could have told the League the plans existed without revealing their details. That way their purpose isn't undermined and the League's trust in him isn't fractured. Not to mention, the plans security is already in question considering some of Batman's enemies know who he is and could steal them, which is exactly what happened in the comic. Considering scores of people act like he easily beat the League who they view as gods, it seems like it's at the same level if not even worse. Even then, that still makes him a danger so what's the contingency for him?

Doom is okay, much prefer the comic this is based off of. The Tower of Babel story line on the comic is more fleshed out and the villain is Ra’s Al Ghul. Which makes for far compelling arc for him than simply Batman saving the day. I guess this is the one I don’t recommend to people 😂

In the Flash tv show, the Trickster (played by Mark Hamill) puts a bomb on Flash and he has to vibrate through something to get it off, just like in this movie. I assume it’s probably from the comics, and not a reference to this.

The one thing about this one I find weird is the artist/designer really really loves ab windows. Nothing wrong with it but a ton of the characters have exposed midriffs with real low rise pants(Jack, King and Cheetah for example) or just straight up ab to V line windows.(Saphire and Baine) It is most noticeable in the lineup of the villains.

Basically Crisis On Two Earths was originally supposed to be an episode of the Justice League TV show and for Doom they brought back alot of the original voice cast from the show. So Kevin Conroy as Batman, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman, and Carl Lumbly as J’onn. While Michael Rosenbaum who originally voiced Wally West/Flash in the show plays the Barry Allen version here and Tim Daly who voiced Superman in “Superman The Animated Series” reprised his role instead of George Newbern who voiced the character in “Justice League” and “Justice League Unlimited”.

One of the best DC animated films that isn't fully connected to many other films. The only major changes from Tower of Babel source material is Bane-v-Batman and Vandal Savage replaced Ras Al-Guhl stealing Batman's contingency plans.

This movie is an adaption of the JLA: Tower of Babel comic arc from 2000. (JLA #43-46)This was a Mark Waid Justice League story. The movie added a couple of different characters not used in the comic but the general theme is the same.

love this movie. personally its one of the best written of the older DC animated movies. now there is only a few off-series movies out there before you should start watching the tomorrowverse movies(which are great btw). All Star Superman, Justice League: The New Frontier(based off of the graphic novel by the late Darwyn Cooke, my all time fav. dc graphic novel), Green Lantern: First Flight, and Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (my fav Elseworlds graphic novel). OH and also Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, but that is another Elseworld's based movie that just came out this year but isnt part of the Tomorrowverse.

Coy references the more modern Failsafe comic for the Batman contingencies, but this movie is based on an earlier story with a similar premise, Mark Waid's "Tower of Babel" from the year 2000. I'm not sure if its a deleted scene or a dvd extra or what exactly, but there is something that is often associated with this movie where its Batman talking and he's dictating to the Bat Computer all the contingencies he has for neutralizing the Justice League, which he refers to as the "Agamemno Contingencies". Now that you're watching things from outside the DCAMU, you'll quickly find there's a lot of Batman and Superman stories, so a lot of recommendations are probably going to be those. I've heard Coy mention his love of All-Star Superman, and I bet he'd be happy to know that there is an animated movie based on that story also called All-Star Superman. There's also the Superman vs the Elite movie, which many are suggesting may be similar to what Gunn is doing with Superman: Legacy, assuming the Authority shows up in that movie as is rumored. As far as Batman stories that are popular, theres the Killing Joke animated movie and the Gotham by Gaslight animated movie.

So with this movie, Michael Rosenbaum has voiced: both Barry & Wally as the Flash; and in one episode of Justice League Unlimited, he voiced Lex Luthor when he and Flash swapped bodies.

As everyone has pointed out in the comments, this is not a sequel to Crisis on Two Earths. It's its own thing, separate from that movie and separate from the Justice League cartoon series. They just got most of the League's voice cast back. Key observation being while this Flash is voiced by Smallville's Lex Luthor, just like the Justice League show does, in this movie Flash is Barry Allen, not Wally West like in JL's show. It's still unclear WHY Wally West is just Barry's replacement in JL, since his name and personality are literally the only things different, Wally's life being Barry's in JL with no mention of Barry ever. Reverse Flash is also absent from the series, the only true reference to him being a nanobot enemy taking on RF's colours in a fight with Flash, him not even acknowledging the appearance at all
