If I remember correctly, this movie was originally proposed as a movie to connect the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoon series, but instead became a stand alone movie. Explains how the League grows between the two series, how wonder woman gets the invisible jet, the core League members, ect.
@thedefinitionisthis Жыл бұрын
Yup, it was designed to take place within the DCAU, before it became its own thing. It’s definitely clear, given the introductions to stuff like Wonder Woman’s invisible jet & teleporters, and the ending that has the JL deciding to expand their ranks; all things that became the norm in JLU.
@cis22 Жыл бұрын
Hal being there could also be attributed to John Stewart needing to take a break after the end of Justice League. (Though Hal hasn't been properly introduced in the DCAU by then so who knows what the original script of this movie actually looked like.)

@@marcodabatman actually, I think it's been explained that Hal Jordan never became a Green Lantern in the DCAU. He did exist, but not as a Green Lantern. I think they switched to Hal for the movie to try and remove it from the DCAU continuity and make it a stand alone.
@AtomikaBlerd Жыл бұрын
This was written by the incomparable Dwayne McDuffie (who also was the writing genius behind Justice League, JLU, The Milestone Universe and so many other comics). It was originally to be the interstitial between the end of Justice League Star Crossed and the beginning of Justice League Unlimited. But, it was held back and converted into a direct to video. The reason why it has so much fleshed is because it has the weight of the Timmverse behind it. It's such a great film and the cast is top notch.

McDuffie was a brilliant writer, but I can't let the Earth 2 diss pass. This was a very broad adaptation, missing several cool points I really liked, like revealing more about the Crime Syndicators, like Ultraman's backwards origin- Astronaut Clark Kent altered by aliens into a super and driven mad by the experience - or how Johnny Quick and Power Ring differ from their Earth 1 counterparts. That said, McDuffie making Superwoman a Mary Marvel counterpart instead of a WW was a stroke of genius.
@Jason5818UI Жыл бұрын

Fun fact: this movie was supposed to be a bridge between the original run of the Justice League show and Justice League Unlimited, as in the latter show there's a sudden influx of numerous superheroes. The construction of the Watchtower in this movie is further proof of this as in the finale of the original show, the first Watchtower gets destroyed during the Thanagarian invasion. The character designs too look a bit like the DCAU. I guess because of budget reasons or something this movie got pushed back and by the time they got round to making it, the DCAU had already ended. That's why we have a brand new voice cast and altered plot and designs to sever ties with the old shows. Even the people involved aren't the same as the ones who worked on the shows.

Fave Justice League movie. The way they show their teamwork AND their individual strengths was great. I felt like all of that was portrayed properly. Batman doesn't have plot-armor, actually loses and still gets his moment, Superman is actually the leader and is a proper combination of strength and power, Wonder woman is portrayed as an actual strong woman and not as a b*tch (I actually like her fights the best) and the rest of the league shines on their own fights. I think having Crime Syndicate as an enemy instead of a faceless army w/c we've seen so many times before was also brilliant.

Whether he let's the bomb blow up or not he will die regardless. If you really think about it earth prime would of already been destroyed by one of the infinite other people like him but either due to some cosmic force stopping it or the multiverse being reformed after being destroyed it all starts over anyway only proving his point that nothing matters. If nothing matters though then anything CAN matter. It's your choice to give meaning to everything. Not because it has to be, but because you choose it to be.

This movie proposes a great question ,could Owlman work in live action ? And as always Coy and John great reaction

Also keep in mind that Batman was at a huge disadvantage to owl man in their matchup. Owl man was cybernetically enhanced (that’s how he could fist fight Wonder Woman), and Batman also had a broken rib.

I think that the made-men are this universe is version of the Shazam Family . Since if you go by the Comics, Super-Woman is actually Mary Batson (or as we know her in the main continuity: Mary Marvel. Shazam’s foster sister.)

Superwoman with the Crime Syndicate takes the alias of Lois Lane in the comics while being an Amazon so she is an amalgam of Lois and Wonder Woman post-Crisis. The movie changed it up to make her a version of Mary Marvel. It was an original idea.

Love this film. Will you be going back over the older films before starting the new rebooted animated universe?

I was first introduced to Owl Man in the Lego DC Supervillains game. This is one of the many DCAU movies I missed.

Hey, Coy. I hope you watch the rest of the films in the Christopher Reeve Superman franchise, because those films are just so damn nostalgic, and absolutely worth your time. All of those movies, yep, even the bad ones, hold a special place in my heart, and I couldn't get enough of your reaction to the original Richard Donner classic from '78, which is also still my favorite DC movie, if not overall superhero film! I really thought you'd mention watching Superman II in the James Gunn announcement video, but I'm just stuck asking for you to watch them. There's also been quite a lot of comparisons to Superman II (1980), and Justice League (2017), with both having inferior theatrical versions, and superior in every way director's cuts. Absolutely worth your time! Feel free to skip that terrible Supergirl spinoff movie.

Love this movie. You should check out Superman/Batman: Apocalypse introducing Supergirl and Justice League: New Frontier which was based in the 1940s.

This was originally supposed to be set in the DCAU. It was meant to be between Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. You can still see parts of that in the movie, like how they're rebuilding the Watchtower and how they have other heroes on call. But they weren't given the budget to make this foe the show so when they had the chance, they made it into a straight to DVD movie.

Justice League: A New Frontier is a good one to watch for classic heroes. I need to read the book.
