Definitely this is the piece of art and ad that convinced a lot of fans on buying the Origins concept. It clearly bridged childhood and adulthood with technique mastery and nostalgic emotion. I hope Mattel sees this and provide you with plenty of opportunities in the future. Thanks for sharing a bit of that!

I don’t think you know how awesome and impactful your final stop animation short was. I always wanted a son. After 2 daughters we had a boy but miscarried about 21 weeks. Hit wife hard and never wanted to try again. My brother had a boy a year later. He’s the only boy out of 6 total kids. He is now 6 and my brother never had attachment to He-Man so he let me introduce it to him. Your stop motion short brought so much life to the brand & toys and he loved it! He has since started watching the old cartoons with me and is playing with the new Origins line all the time. I plan to have a new character for him every time I see him after they get introduced to him through the cartoon. Even preordered Castle Greyskull for him for Christmas. He may have gotten into it but your short really got him off his roblox and into the imaginative world of Eternia play! Specially with the added realism of the kids being on a device and watching you play then jointing in! Also seeing you play together then going into the battle scene. It is has been the next best thing to me having a boy. I’m thankful for you and your work and for my brother letting me have this with him! Thank you and please do more He-man!

Now it’s on to daddy daughter dates! I love being a daddy’s girl dad but yes it’s been so nice to share this with my nephew! Thank you again!

😂 That shoot at 9:15 is right out of the 80's toys comercials!! Only difference is the softness of 16 mm images transformed into old tv resolution, the 4:3 aspect ratio, and the beard on the kids face.

Justin & Family - Wow! So amazing! After attending UCLA film school (and specializing in animation), I spent a summer working at Mattel Toys on a project to test MOTU toys with low-level 2D animatics. The idea was to test new toy products with real kids without actually making the prototypes. $10/hour in 1985 to work as an artist at Mattel Toys was good money back then! (I might have had a crush on Evil Lyn. And I thought the skunk-like character called Stinkor, which actually smelled bad was a classic!)

Here's my question- how did you get past the inconsistent joint tension that you get on action figures? My biggest issue with toys is that sometimes the joints stick and pop too far to get the tiny increments I need. Either that, or they just don't support any weight.

From a time when we actually encouraged boys to aspire to be strong and heroic and virtuous men, rather than have "social" media and "news" media [and Gillette ads] paint all males in the world as the villains of the piece. Let's make a He-Man movie that takes us all back to those times, especially for all the young lads out there right now who need larger than life but good and honest and pure and iconic figures to aspire to like He-Man and Superman. It's okay for us big boys and grown men to let all the other boys and men out there know that we are actually good and kind and gentlemen and worthy, and maybe more necessary than ever. Someone, somewhere, make a feature-length version of this stop-motion movie happen, and I mean based on this classic original He-Man, this '80s version of He-Man when he was at his very best (both in terms of the character design and the sentiment and moral and message). Please....
