it really feels like “UX and best practices” is the theme of this release. Huge!!

10:00 Wen using a service that asks for the view key it’s exactly the same as using a custodial wallet or a Binance account. Once you withdraw they lose the track of it. So I don’t see a problem to the general network privacy there. It’s similar if not the same issue present today. I also would like to hear all wallet developers about this scheme

What will happen to the old addresses? Will it be possible to receive funds to old XMR addresses, or will they become useless once this Jamtis is implemented?

as far as I understood, they will become useless. As said in the video, funds you received in the past to those old addresses will of course be kept, but any new transaction has to go to the new jamtis address

@@fordprefect8235 That is clearly an advantage of Bitcoin. Imagine if you bury a time capsule with your XMR address, and then when it is dug up no one will be able to send an at least symbolic amount of money to person who interred in. The esotericism surrounding a cryptocurrency would disappear a bit if the addresses become invalid. I will however still continue to support Monero anyway.

@@norwegianpoliceofficer5393 Yep, I can definitely see how that is problematic as it is a drastic change. Im glad there are smart people out there discussing pros and cons of this and I am sure they will decide whats best for monero
