I married at 17 and he was 19. Jan 1 will be 45 years. We grew up together. Raised 3 children, nurse practitioner and two woh have their own businesses. 5 grands. Age is just a number. It is about commitment.

I DO agree that Justin and Claire look like a prom couple, but Justin is 18 and Claire is 19, which makes them legal adults! Besides commitment, marriage also requires emotional maturity, and some people mature earlier than others! Michelle was 17 and Jim Bob was 19 when they got married, so Michelle's parents had to consent to their marriage! HALF of the Duggar kids have known their spouses since childhood, so they weren't total strangers to each other when they got married! You can sometimes meet the right person at the wrong time, and have to wait! Young marriage is NOT always a mistake!

My mum and dad were married at 18 and 20, it was a different world then, and in a way, it is a different world that the Duggars et al live in. My parents are now 85 and 87, and still hold hands when they go out walking. To each his own, wishing them a happy, healthy life together.

So many comments about their age like they are the exception. 18 and up are adults. I married at her age and have been with my husband for 22 yrs. Plenty of people do it. Its their life to live and it doesnt affect anyone else if they married now or in their 30s. Focus on your own choices & learn to be happy for people instead of constant judgement from a fallable high horse.
