Justin's death had to be the most emotional scene in the whole show and I'm not joking. My eyes were filled with tears and that's the first time of such. I had always had a soft spot for justin, his whole life was a big mess. And Lorn Huron's "The night we met" had a lot of influence on the atmosphere when justin died. I felt Justin was always caught in the web of events all through the show, now he didn't get a second chance when he needed it.
@miaobrien79774 жыл бұрын
I write books and I’ll try to explain it a bit better to you to soften the blow. Justin’s death, although tragic, was going to happen. Justin has been through so much in the last few years of his life which had potentially wore away his love for himself. You’ll see in plenty of scenes that people who loved him tried to reach out to him but he didn’t accept it. He didn’t think he deserved it. You’ll see in plenty of other scenes, after he got out of rehab, that he was starting to believe he deserved to get better. Sadly, everyone else, all the people who cared about him, were going through shit of their own, so he didn’t get the praise and support he needed to hold onto that piece of self-worth he had gained from rehab. He *was* getting better, but everyone around him was getting worse, and they weren’t in the right headspace to recognize his happiness. Slowly, he lost his self worth again, and didn’t think he deserved anything. He didn’t think he deserved Jessica, he didn’t think he deserved a family, he didn’t think he deserved to go to college. So when he started to get sick, he decided to not get it checked out, he thought, “if anything, I deserve to suffer”. Which is so wrong, because he deserved to be happy almost more than anyone else. He was feeling everything he needed to have a bright future, and to be happy, but it was the wrong time. To fully get better you need love and validation from others and from yourself. Sure, he did get it, but not enough to feel he deserved it. And when you think about it, maybe he never would’ve believed he deserved love, no matter what time of his life it was. The sad part (and the message they really wanted to get across) was that right before he fell and was rushed into ICU, he had finally listened to Clay. Clay told Justin that he deserved to go to the dance, and for once, he listened. Sadly, it was too late for him to start listening. And the disease had advanced too far, in the past few months, for him to survive. But atleast he died with some self worth. The message is that speak up about things, even if you think you don’t deserve it, because by the time you *do*, it might be too late.

I completely agree yes Hanna's Jeff's and Monty's was tragic and sad and Bryce got what he deserved but Justin's was just devestating especially after turning his life around for the better he had a heart of gold all he wanted was for someone to love him and care about him his mum neglected him and his dad abused him he would probably of been better in care he had so much to live for he deserved so much and he didn't have any role models to look up to no one ever taught him anything he went from your typical teenage 14/15 year old boy to a scared 18 year old boy I cried my eyes out for days after he died and now watching the show for the 7 time I cry at every Justin scene just because of how sad his life is

since season 1 Justin was my favorite, he went from being homeless, to a drug addict, to being adopted by a loving family, to staying on drugs, to asking for help, to getting the help he needs, then relapsing, and getting help again. He had a loving girlfriend that he went through so much with. He had loving adoptive parents, who treated Justin like he was their own son, and a loving brother who even though he didn’t act like it loved Justin more than anything. Justin deserved better. This was so creative and well done, a masterpiece of parallels and splitting up his story into relevant sections. I have so many feelings and enjoyed the entire 31 minutes immensely. Thank you for reminding me the "whatever is a piece of shit word" originally came from his coach because I know he says it to Clay at the party in season 4 so that's another parallel in my head. I've seen so so many videos but it still feels like i never fully get reminded of every little moment and it was nice to see some of these moments I'd forgotten about. I'm hoping to make a Bryce & Justin angst filled tribute and your vidding will really help me not forget important scenes related to their stuff... Etc etc. Just thank you for all of what this video ultimately is. I can see how extremely hard you worked on it. Justin was my favorite character and i related to him in a fair number of ways but also felt drawn to him in ways where I just wished he could be saved. It's so sad how his story ended.

So I've been avoiding this video as much as I could, because I didn't think I was ready to watch it, but now I found the courage to do so. Needless to say that I couldn't stop crying. I cried and I also smiled a lot, because Justin's life was a mess, but a beautiful one. He was special and his heart was pure. A character I'll always cherish, beacause it made me experience so many emotions: from the anger I felt for the mistakes he made and for thinking that he didn't deserve good things and love; the pride to see him fighting for the ones he loved and always protecting Jess after everything they've been through; the happiness of seeing him with a family that he so much deserved, but mostly: the hope that I felt seeing that even a broken soul like him could have a chance. Justin was🖤 Words are too poor. Thank you so much for this piece of art, all your work is so worth it🙏🏼

Honestly, growing up I had a similar life to Justin's. My birth mom was a junkie and her hookups/boyfriends were straight-up bad people who've abused me before. When the show first came out, I lived with my dad and his wife to have a better life. I sympathized with Justin because I knew exactly how he felt at home and in season 2 when he was living on the streets I knew what that was like too. I slept in a park once to avoid going back to my birth mom's apartment. I related to Justin in so many ways and was happy when Clay's family brought him in. Now knowing after watching season 4, he's gone, I'm heartbroken. It was like watching a part of myself die with him because I've never related so much to a character in my life. I have a better life now and so did he but he deserved to go on and live his life just as I do now.

What an amazing tribute!! I hate that season 3 ended that they deserve better than just surviving, they deserve some fucking happiness too, kinda like that Clarke/Lexa quote from The 100 where life should be about more than just surviving. Indeed I feel thriving isn't too much to wish for, aim for, want and ultimately expect to have. But this show decided to end season 4 going back to a weird message of even just surviving isn't always achievable no matter how hard you try, except it kinda would've been achievable in this case except Justin internalized too much self-hate to care for himself enough to get treatment soon enough was the idea, and then the final message for Clay is that he might not be happy for a while but he'll survive and that ending moment of season 3 is just. Despite what they deserve they're not going to get it and it really sucks. They did in a very amatonormative way have Clay and Jessica both have hints of a future in a few months dating and maybe finding happiness again that way but like. It's hard for me to even decide how I feel about all this. The biggest thing is if what happened to Justin is even possible, or if it's impossible for HIV which usually took like 8 years to progress to AIDS really could've killed him while he's still in high school. Also they should not have blamed his HIV on his sex work when drugs alone would've been plenty of reason he could've gotten infected, or maybe they could've blamed it on being abused when he was 5 but idk just the writing is so frustrating. If they wanted to write a story about the tragedy of not thinking you're worth being saved they could've at least fact checked what's realistic and possible and picked a different illness like cancer where if you ignore the symptoms too long you're still dead. Idk. Sorry I'm rambling...I'll leave an actual comment about this brilliant half hour video now!!

I can't stop crying after watching the show, i know I was a bit late to watch it but I am glad that I did. I want to know more about Justin, I can relate to him. I am a survivor.

It's so sad that nobody noticed that he had lesions that took forever to heal from season 2 on. He was showing signs that he was sick almost the entire time. It broke my heart. I love Justin ❤️
