Justin Herbert dilemma: Are the Chargers using the QB properly? | Bye Week Assessment

The Chargers' offensive issues keep growing after they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. Is Justin Herbert the problem? Does he get a pass for the ankle injury? Or does Herbert simply need more help? On the positive side, the Chargers have found success on the defensive side with Jesse Minter. A close look at the Los Angeles Chargers during their Week 5 bye week.

Two injured tackles, Justin with a twisted ankle added up to no time and no mobility.😮

Receivers aren’t the problem. They need to figure out how to get the receivers the ball more. QJ had 2 receptions on 5 targets

In all honesty, it just seems like the chargers couldnt keep their foot on the gas ever after halftime and Kansas City’s punter won that game for Kansas City Chiefs from my opinion. He pinned us behind the 15 yard line or less all four punts. Also just the one big play we gave up. Hope they get healthy and stop the offensive penalties. Go Chargers!!!

Keep their foot on the gas? Seriously? The Chargers are averaging 17 points a game this season.

Really thought the back up QB should have played. Herbert wasn't mobile enough to scramble away from pass rush and pass from rolling out. That's how he threw a majority of his TD passes in his rookie year. Allowing him to run and pass makes the offense more dangerous and unpredictable. Right now, the defense knows how to defend him in the 4th quarter. OC needs to change things up now...

Two injured tackles, already bad IOL, injured ankle, and a bottom tier WR room. Not exactly set up to succeed.

Once upon a time, Brandon Staley won four of his first five games as Chargers head coach, including a win over the Chiefs. Meanwhile, at 2-2, the Chargers are exactly where they were last year, except last year the lost in weeks 1 and 2 and won in weeks 3 and 4. They were also 2-2 in 2022. Hmmm. . .

Why is this a suprise.we all new our TE and receiving group is the worse in the NFL,and now RB and OL suck. It's a broken record.

Roman SUX as an OC! I hated the idea of him being hired. His play calling is Fuckn TERRIBLE. True we didn't have our 2 tackles, but instead of changing up the game plan he stuck with it like we had them. I didn't see any 2 TE plays at all. That's what they signed those 2 for, to come in and block and he never drew up any plays with them blocking on either on running or passing plays!! WTF!!

If you’re talking about offensive struggles, I would appreciate it if you took down Herbert’s picture in the thumbnail and replace it with Roman.

The offense is terrible. Herbert looks lost out there. Can’t read defense. I’m kind of over the whole situation of who’s fault it is

You do realize Herbert still has a high ankle strain and we have no receivers who can separate except for Ladd , Plus No Alt or Slater. It's literally a recipe for disaster.

@@robertsm8285herbert could’ve hit palmer, QJ multiple times for touchdowns. I understand he doesn’t have time, but his injuries in the past and lack of offensive line has fucked him. He misses reads all the time nowadays, holds onto the ball, and doesn’t throw his receivers open because of the lack of trust in his receivers.

@@andrecastillo2612 I don't blame him for not trusting his WR's. Palmer was barely moving around. he only got open because of blown coverage...go back & watch the tape...you'll see what I mean
