So I am a black disabled woman so the odds are stacked against me. I want to respond to what Jamie said. if a person who is able-bodied says something that is offensive to me or the disability community then I will gladly educate the person. if the person has more questions then again I will happily answer their questions. but I expect that person to have an open mind and heart. if they don't then we can't have a conversation. Additionally to that if that person keeps saying the offensive word or phrase even after I explained my feelings and the history behind it then I will retreat and become quiet because I don't know what to do with that person. I don't believe in cancel culture because I believe the person needs to be educated. so I probably would think of other people to do so. by the way I really love this podcast and the conversations you guys have. it makes me think so keep up the good work.

So I’ve thought about writing this comment since I first listened to this episode when it first came out. It’s a lengthy response and one that could honestly be a full TedTalk if I were to fully flesh it all out. (Maybe it will be someday, who knows?) As someone who has been officially canceled - to me, I simply feel that I faced the consequences of my actions - I see this topic from a different perspective, so I wanted to share a response as someone who was fundamentally changed by the experience. And it inexorably led me to ME’s work which has been life changing not just for me but for others in my immediate orbit. I struggle for the words to explain what the first few days, weeks, and months felt like for me being a ghost in my own life. Jamey put it best when he spoke of blowing his life up and then sleeping under his bed for a year. While I didn't do that, I did lock myself in my room for weeks at a time, suffering from the worst season of binge eating disorder in my life. . It was a way of punishing myself for my wrong doings since I couldn't -- wouldn't -- do it the way I'd done for nearly 20 years with substance abuse, since I wanted to stop hurting others in my life that I cared about. For me, the answers to healing came from a number of avenues, in no particular order: The Man Enough Brand, Men’s Work Groups (ManKind Project,) A Call To Men’s Training Institute, Therapy and mental illness diagnoses, and SMART Recovery The most interesting part of it, again to Jamey’s point, is the people that have reached out to me since - some that stayed close to me and others that disconnected from me at first. People that shared their own fears of losing everything, that something from their past would come back to haunt them, something they were too afraid to talk about with others. Often, something that they’d not felt comfortable even talking about to someone else. It’s allowed me to be a safe space for people that didn’t know how to handle the fear and worry they had. And I couldn’t be more honored by how I get to show up for people and share my experience so that they may find a better way to healing. And MUCH of that comes from the work that Man Enough does every single day. So thank you, team!

27:10 Yes! I have been in a wheelchair my whole life because I was born with Spina Bifida. I totally agree, I am not bound to my wheelchair, my wheelchair is what gives me my freedom. If I didn't have my wheelchair I wouldn't be able to do all the things I am able to.

I think Blake will get canceled but Justin and Ryan will probably be fine. Even if her harassment claims were true (hard to swallow with so many contradictions, who would want to work with her knowing how she railroaded the film? Now, if she and Ryan make their own movie and her supporters go watch (I won't watch anything with her again after seeing her trying to destroy this man with no proof and being way too sensitive to innocuous stuff, the signed 17-point list, then outright making things up on that fake 30-point list) she might have a very limited career moving forward. Four months postpartum (probably made her more emotional than usual), known to be overly sensitive (we've all seen the videos of her taking everything too personally), and not have the chops for a DV role (so the acting and even discussing it was tough for her), she never should have been hired. And if rumors that Ryan took over Deadpool the way Blake took over It Ends With Us are true, I think he will still be okay. Everyone is more forgiving of pushy men and Ryan was already on the A-List before the drama. Blake wasn't quite there.

Blake and Ryan got to her. It’s alluded to in the newest lawsuit. Plank started pulling away from Baldoni around the time of Lively’s pathetic attempt at a movie promo, unfollowing Justin, then joined Blake on the red carpet in August. They must have approached Plank ahead of their smear campaign against him and promised her their so-called dragon protection in exchange for colluding with them to take down Baldoni come December. Why would she quit without a word the moment the NYT article came out? Don’t be surprised if Plank turns up later on with some bigger gig the Reynolds’ recommended her for as payment for her services to their corruption. Plank is a disgrace and sorely misjudged her allegiances. They will turn round and throw her under the bus too in a heartbeat.

WRT Liz overall: (I was so torn if I should drafted it and post the comment or not… it’s personal to me.) I find it highly sexist between Justin and Jamey’s bromance to a woman who appears they are the bros she hasn’t had. You admire her *way too* much. She is *not* a journalist! Her ideals are dangerous to men. Her passion is feminism not telling stories of said cause fair and accurate. Her writing is horrible (not to be so personal because) I loooovvee to write good copy, tight, and on the point, ensuring I have yin to yang when I write facts (Liz like to write “X” *without* “Y” data points) and on competing podcasts in the spring would say about her personally “encoding thoughts” but leaves out anything on “decoding”). Can you see how an audience can be confused so quickly? I *hoard* hundreds of non fiction books (biz/finance, politics, technical, etc.) I hate fiction. For The Love of Men was one of the first books that scared the hell out of me that a Millennial could write a book like a diary and get it published without much legal or editorial control. I’m still traumatized. With Liz’s book published, it legitimizes professional diaries to be published as books. The book backfired and I h8 men even more (yes you too Man Enough; you ruined my respect to my own people.) Given her March appearance of her being the subject, as I remember commenting, the book should’ve been pulled and re-written from scratch because it’s apparent she had severe abuse in her younger life (esp during the writing of the book.) 19:55 Justin uses Liz to be canceled to advanced someone else? If the person is a better, and responsible journalist that’s an American - hell yeah - don’t say it’s wrong! If someone like her writes in paranoia that she’s worried about her reputation as a “journalist” then the next breath compare [self-pleasure] to mass murder on a personal Substack - that wasn’t even opinion - it’s creative writing!!! And it’s backwards-sexist. Liz is right to be in fear of being canceled because for one she’s not a U.S. Citizen and from my legal folks, if you are not a resident/immigrant - you have no Constitutional rights. Imagine me overstaying a prolonged visit in Canada and lecture Canadians how guys should be when freedom of speech is not protected speech in said country? If you don’t vote, you can’t express opinions is the unwritten rule for so many years in American norms, same applies if you are not attempting to become a citizen. ***Jordan Peterson should be banned from the States just like Liz!*** *The only thing I have seriously agreed with Jamey at **26:00**, was on the blind-spot, and people like Liz who believes ID-politics is maliciously* making people falsely “ableist”. The NYT hiring a disabled reporter, that’s just checking the box, why should people like me be proud an entity is hiring a person for the sake of an identity? Box-checking is a pat-my-self-on-the-back bordering on selfishness by an institution. I find it more offensive when “journalists” do not ask entitle the disabled individual the right-to-respond-for-a-comment than spending time in meetings using the phrase “blind spot” that wasn’t intended to be “ableist” 99% probability! That’s so common sense, Liz lacks it, heard ZIPPO on *that* basic journalistic standard to practice! Isn’t a request for comment much more effective than harassing say the Associated Press to change words in their style guide? I will go so far to call out Liz _herself_ as an ablest by focusing just on people in wheelchairs (sorry if that was over-generalized) but people who have brain injury or developmentally delayed (notice I emphasize “delayed” because) I also find it highly ableist that she uses the phrase “disabilities” or a “disability” because I thought it was not PC a few years ago. Maybe its a Canadian thing. I find that word to be slur, because the actions are intentional write-offs much like how when a car is “totaled” means it’s no longer able to run. I get those undertones when I have seen some of her work on this beat. All three of you are guilty for help mucking the waters for blatant biases and prejudices of men. My personal view of approaching masculinity should be a bit more hawkish than alpha males (why did Liz not mention alpha male vs beta male in the book BTW?), instead turning them into borderline feminizing dudes. It will backfire, whether you like it or not. I prefer men to be more empathic (as well as women, I know too many Millennials - FEMALES to be specific that are sociopathic.) It’s better to be slanted than tilted, and I see the tilt on both Justin and Liz. My sentiment on such personal undertones is probably because Liz reminds me of a bunch of overt feminists who worked in my SPED classrooms openly hating men and boys in the 00s, except for the ones they would go home on a nightly basis. That hatred has scarred me for life. I think that’s why Liz is so offensive to my group (because she only likes people that agree to her political prejudice and apparently people in wheelchairs - sorry if that came off offensive.) I give up trying to be fair and constructive and professional I give up - I’m one of many Mac users that doesn’t like to be PC (that is politically correct.) I know I am not the only one...

Hi All, I am commenting here because I am sickened by this content that gets posted with regards to your hosts and some of your guests. I only know about this podcast vis a vis Liz Plank (more about her in a following comment.) I need to tell why I am so alarmed by the context in your content; and each day in 2022 as a male, it’s more and more scarier to the point one should live under baseplate like a lego figurine. I’ve had limited tolerance of men for many years as I was born out of wedlock more than 3 decades ago, by a biological father as of early 2019 denied my existence, also against two half siblings who didn’t know who I am and likewise. I swear to gawd if I was born a female he’d treat me differently. I was also in a *VERY* abusive environment by a macho-man individual, as well as a female who was very athletic in nature. I am an “invisibly-disabled” male with a condition according to the CDC that impacts “1 in 44” individuals, good luck trying to find wire copy on that story back in the spring, very disappointed to our media. I’m not going to specify in the fear of being canceled-out because the moment you say the unnamed condition, it gets immediate prejudice, so I force myself to not say the-word I am going to mention the competition by name because I feel it’s important to know the enemies on KZbin as well as the other platforms. I was occupied during COVID but in 2021, I was researching what was causing my toxic relationships concurrently seeing alarming content from Jordan Peterson, Fresh & Fit, The Roommates, Courtney Ryan, etc. Near the end of 2021, I came across Liz Plank on one of the NBC News streaming shows, and was skeptically interested in her thoughts (but that went in a 180°, again more at this in a following comment.) I was like if-there-is-a-god… but I was let down yet again as this podcast is on the extreme ends against said competitors. You content rates (with deep sadness) much lower in audience, while the competition are beating you in multiples. You fail to recognize that "enemy” ("the patriarchy" is not that entirely) but the competitors implicitly; as it’s smart to acknowledge the other side instead of trashing them. There’s too much joy in trashing the other side. Justin can come off extremely condescending by forcing the listener/viewer into being “uncomfortable”, and almost preach to the converted (a radio no-no though OK for podcasts.) This is like the “PBS Kids” block of the 1990s, non consenting children to be indoctrinated, instructed, program with bland, boring and other ways to torture to learn subjects to an audience (in this case men) to be male feminists. It’s very mob like. If you worked at a radio station, the accountability by the FCC would force you talk differently. Sadly the FCC regulates part of the Internet as of this writing. Jamey can come off toxic too, by interrogating, oh sorry “challenging” guests and trying to convert them to his prejudices. All three of you lack media literacy (and the female works in the industry) and overgeneralize that industry, of which if you can’t tell from my platform and the stuff I educate and inform, it’s disgusting, because if you refuse to accept there is more to media than just cable news, our country will be burning. I’ve listened (or watched) up to nearly 10 episodes and a bunch of short clips - basically you are pouring kerosene to the fire that is toxic masculinity. The only difference is you’re just as extreme as the Fresh & Fit, The Roommates, Jordan, Courtney and a zillion others, but on the polar opposite. The idea you refuse to understand Americans are 80% traditional (with a slant to right or left ideas) cancels you all out from the other 20% that are tilted to the extreme left. I am not happy we are living in a post First Amendment world where everything must be checked for “feelings” over facts (a well known agreement of facts by many). If it’s not nefarious (of which the media most often tried to decades ago) then sorry, it’s the First Amendment. I am deeply offended because you are talking in a post First Amendment world. It’s dangerous to democracy. Even the previous President would agree with this view (and worse actually embrace it!) If we are “[effing] angry” at 30:20, maybe look at yourselves in the mirror. I am effing angry that I can't be informed and take it being lectured! I don’t want to be hated, _I want to be heard_ - not just seen. Sadly that voice as 2022 continues, will probably be gone after the Elections. Will you take the heat if an event the politics gets worse because you have instigated it nearly overtly? The idea that Liz is self described “progressive” alienates the vast majority of classical liberals, that to her must be bad people because progressives do not like light-duty-liberals.
