Justin is a gifted ,and tremendously underated actor. Mulholland drive is my favorite film, and the leftover one of the best TV show ever written.

David Lynch is a prophet who foresaw the rise of JJ Abbrams which is Justin's character in this flick.

This movie is mostly prescient in conveying the dark sexual underbelly of casting couch culture that didn't really get brought to light until the "me too" movement much later.

It is a dream of Betty for like 100 minutes until she wakes up. The mood switches from surreal to real. Dreams show our fears, desires, and our mental state in symbols. Betty was in a state of unfulfilled longings and disappointment which explains the suicide at the end.

@@Pamelina1111 partially it's because that was a 127 min open ended TV pilot initially, shot in 1999, then canceled, and additional ~20 minutes or so were shot later. We could potentially have legendary TV show, but alas, thanks to idiots on ABC :(

Mulholland Drive is about dreams
@mwhite6522
@mwhite6522 7 күн бұрын
I think he's wrong on both points, and the real answer to what Mullholland Drive is about is very simple. It becomes apparent if you watch it with this simple explanation in mind: If you see Mullholland Drive, you are watching the dream of a down-and-out failed actress who is feeling guilt and anxiety over having paid money to have a rival actress killed. That's it, and that's all. Watch the movie with that in mind, and you'll see how obvious it is. There is no symbolism; there is no plot to decipher. Lynch knows that our dreams often go off on tangents that have no explanation - this happens a handful of times in all our dream experiences. He also knows that emotions we experience in dreams are often intense but have no rational explanation, such as the women crying when Roy Orbison's "Crying" is sung onstage in a "tangent" sequence. I think people read far too much into this movie, looking for unnecessarily complex explanations for what we are seeing. The movie is much simpler, and much more enjoyable, and easier to understand, if you watch it with the uncomplicated explanation above in mind.

0:30 I totally disagree with David Lynch on this. If you don't know what is happening, and you're not jaded or have a ton of high bias, then, it'd be very natural to not make assumptions. So for someone who doesn't make assumptions or make snap judgments, then no, we won't be thinking and feeling through it. We'll just take it at face value. Sorry David Lynch

Yep, it eventually felt like a puzzle to difficult to solve, perhaps because the viewers miss some necessary pieces.
@MisterBrimm
@MisterBrimm Жыл бұрын
@@VictorPanteleimon @riobrasilsambashowssambist1453 Its not difficult to solve. In the beginning of the movie, you see a POV shot of Dianne falling asleep on her pillow, this is her passing out after finding out that the hit she put out on Camille was done and she was dead. Her mind is already broken, so when she's asleep, she escapes into a dream where she relives her relationship with Camille, her mind wants it to play out perfectly, like a Hollywood fairy tale, but her subconscious keeps intruding with the truth of the horrible thing she's done. All of the characters in the dream are people she knew or met recently at that party which is where she lost her mind, having found out that Camille was not only marrying Adam, the director, she also kisses another new "side-girl" who is actually the girl in her dream that is supposed to be Camille. IN the dream, Diane disassociates with herself and is actually three characters. Betty, Rita, and Adam (who represents her rage and victimhood). As the dream goes on, there are dark revelations leading up to when she wakes from the dream and then kills herself.

@@VictorPanteleimon It wasn't rly hard tough to solve and iam not even a native american speaker i would say it was even more fun trying to figure out the mysteries of the film , maybe it's just not ur cup of tea that's it .

@VictorPanteleimon Жыл бұрын
@RamziBergling oh no, it definitely was my cup of tea. I enjoy very much movies that keeps the viewer thinking and is abstract. Ofcourse I had my speculations on what the movie is about. But it's not "clear" especially what seems to be like going back and forth between the dream and the real world.
@MisterBrimm
@MisterBrimm Жыл бұрын
@@VictorPanteleimon No back and forth. In the beginning of the movie, right after the jitterbug montage, you see a POV shot of Dianne laying down to sleep after finding out her lover was killed. That's when the dream starts. Everything up until the cowboy wakes her up was the dream and everything after that was real.

Nah. Lynch is saying ambiguous things. But really he’s telling you how it is. There are men I suits who will tell you to do whatever in all places in life if you have a captive audience. The producer gripping her waist he just met like Weinstein. The actor in on the scene, the ladies after talking about how it’s competitive. All of these things have come more blatantly true. Sleeping your way up and abuse all of it. Justin seems suspect now sadly. Or more naive than Betty.

IF IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO BE AN ACTOR, WHY THERE'S TONS OF ACTORS AROUND STILL & MOVIES BEING MADE EVERY DAMN YEAR ????!!!!
@alicez1597
@alicez1597 2 жыл бұрын
Because it's always the same people who get the roles. It is impossible to be an actor in Hollywood. You either need a ton of money (but still nobody can guarantee you will be a famous actor, maybe a producer because you have the money) or you gotta have really strong ties, like a parent or a really close relative that is able to land you a role in a significant movie. Still tough as hell...cause even if they land you the role, the movie might not be a success and you will remain anonymous... From what I've heard & read Hollywood must be hell, especially for people with dreams to become a star!
