Late Sunday, Aug. 23, the music world got word that it had lost singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle, a distinct voice in Americana music and the son of Steve Earle, at the age of 38. We had had the pleasure of welcoming Justin Townes Earle into The Current studio on several occasions. As we remember Justin Townes Earle's life and music, here are three performances from his studio sessions at The Current through the years.

I got to meet him at Ardovinos Desert Crossing in Sunland Park NM. I was a star struck chef working my shift and got to talk to him between cigarettes and was just a cool humble dude. Good times. RIP Justin 😔

I'm a cleaner at a mental wellness clinic. A guy came in and I dubbed him "Steve Earle" This guy left the facility 3x, kept coming back. Whats goin on with Steve Earle anyway? And it was then I learned about Justin Townes Earle. Shit. In my journal for our guy at the clinic I wrote" Steve Earle has left the building." And so, and thus, I think in age and history his story is going to end as Justins' did. god damn it.Thanks for this real picture of a guy who just KNEW the ins and outs of his fate.

I realize this is unlikely that The Current could do this, but seeing as how Justin isn't able to I thought I'd ask anyway: is there any way you guys would be able to get these songs added to Spotify? Maybe you'd be able to contact the record company he worked with or something? I love this version of Harlem River Blues SOOOOO much and I'd love to be able to listen to easier.
